It doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just didn’t have many potential hits. People say making Alice or Replay the lead would have been better than SL, and maybe from a quality standpoint it would, but I genuinely don’t think they would have been much bigger if at all. Free Woman is a bit radio friendly I guess, but it wouldn’t have pulled numbers either. Other than ROM, the only other potential hit was Sour Candy. They could’ve pushed it as a single with a video, and it would probably have similar total streams to ROM. That means the album would have 3b on Spotify and 5-6m units by now. That’s the maximum the album was set out to do. I really don’t think having more performances would’ve helped much. The push would be for like two weeks max. Besides we already had one album medley at the VMAs so honestly between that and three music videos, and a tour, what we got from the era is perfectly fine for a veteran pop star in the streaming climate. She’s not supposed to be hustling like Dua, she did that in 2009-2013. Now she’s made a name for herself. Chromatica definitely had the best push of any Gaga album in the streaming era, but the difference between it and the push Future Nostalgia got for example is that unlike Interscope, Warner didn't give up at the first signs of underperformance, to the point that it felt like they were shoving Dua down people's throats all of 2020-2021 and to this day whenever she releases something. On the flip end, Interscope is notorious for pulling the plug on songs if they debut with low or mid radio callouts for example. Future Nostalgia was doing better and so deserved the harder push of course, but my point is Interscope definitely could persisted with the back end promo instead of just dropping it once a song started stalling or dropping slightly. 1
Archetype Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 23 minutes ago, Pop Art said: Yeah, I like Dua and all and Future Nostalgia was significantly bigger than Chromatica in every way other than the tour...but I have to wonder if Chromatica as a whole was comparably if not more profitable for the label than Future Nostalgia since the latter had so much more investment poured into it. Makes you wonder what a Gaga era in the 2020s would do with that level of investment and dedication from all parties involved. That’s what I’m saying. Gaga is a very… financially secure investment. She self-funds a lot of her own work, she doesn’t need to rent a studio, her friends are also her producers and co-writers, she always has at least one major hit with each album, a successful album rollout, and very profitable tours. She’s also just extremely famous, like it makes zero sense to say Dua Lipa (who I love) is a notably better financial investment than Lady Gaga at this point.
Vroom Vroom Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Joanne (piano version) is such a beautiful song. The way that it is just a simple piano arrangement and her vocals (she only did one take) is Incredible. No other mainstream artist does it like her. 3

These are the songs that needed to be reworked or scrapped : 1. Free Woman ( we all loved it at first but it's generic af and lost its magic real quick due to the horrible BloodPop's try- hard production. 2. Stupid Love ( no explanation needed) 3. Fun tonight ( cringe) 4. 1000 Doves ( cringe, the piano version is slightly better) 5. Sine From Above ( a mess, only enjoyable when drunk / high) These tracks drag the quality down a lot. CHROMATICA needed a perfect solo lead single. Tea. And as i said before, Stupid Bomb as the lead single cheapened the era as a whole. basic jojo siwa lyrics and low budget video 1 1

Si Hoo Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 We have to admit all of the studio releases after BTW aged badly. ASIB is the only surviver. 5

Pop Art Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I feel like a bad fan for wishing this, but if she's not gonna release any new original pop music soon, can something old that she's not gonna use leak (in full and HQ)? Out of Control maybe? Like c'mon, this drought is really starting to get to me.

Biggie Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Is the Sephora thing from today like a publicized conversation or just a random selfie
DeepEnd Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 The best thing that came from Chromatica was the Charli remix. I know the FAD Soundtrack will slap tho 1

Sadly, I don’t have the time to engage in discussions anymore, so I just like to react instead. Don’t take it personally, please. And as long as ya’ll will express your negative opinions aka talking in circles about this masterpiece of an album (in my humble opinion), I will also keep reacting to them. Also, notice how you said - doesn’t praise Chromatica - which is untrue, I’m downvoting the same old mistaken and tired drags about Chromatica that were repeated by the same people a million of times. nick4bty Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Chromatica Ball definitely would've been extended if she didn't have to start preparing for JFAD. The demand was there and the spacing of the dates and setup of the show were perfect for her health-wise. They really nailed Chromatica Ball in every way imo. 2 1

Pop Art Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I really think Gaga and her team should start trying to find ways to promote her albums beyond just the singles. I was just comparing her average album streams per track and the percentage of total album streams each album's most streamed track is with her peers, and...let's just say it didn't look the best for our girl. (It could be worse, but could definitely be better too.) It just got me thinking how they always seem to just focus on pushing the singles (and lately, just one single ) and expecting that will carry the entire album. That may have worked in the sales era, but it doesn't exactly have the same impact in the streaming era. Perhaps they could invest more of the marketing budget towards album tracks that are organically doing relatively well (for example, they could have lobbied for Alice and Replay to get playlisting), release music/lyric/etcetera videos for more non-singles (even if videos are dead compared to how they used to be, they still have a slow burn boost on streams), and if she's up for it, include album tracks along with the singles in promo performances like how she used to do with Hair, Speechless, and Brown Eyes for example. Idk, just some ideas. 2

Maybe they could have slapped plastic doll on it 1
