crf13 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Britney’s global reach is insane. I’m vacationing in Mexico right now. One of the activates we did was a zip-lining course, and they also had a small animal sanctuary. There was an albino python and I asked the woman working there if the python was a boy or a girl. She said the python is a girl, and then, I asked what her name is. I was gagged when she said “Britney Spears.” 5 1

Gelato Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 I know half the vocals are probably Myah's but Perfume is actually quite a pretty song 1

Rev8 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 This video had me thinking The way Britney was really such an inspiration for the good girl gone bad eras Rihanna's GGGB's lead single is literally a Britney reject Miley and Selena has cited her for it - altho not a specific era, but Britney has never been a One-era-change-of-image of that image.. her change to a "bad girl" can be seen throughout the whole Britney-ITZ-Blackout (something like how Miley did her -Cant Be Tamed-Bangerz) and to mention Xtina, who deffo felt pressured to go deeper into the bad image, because of Britney's 3rd era (critics literally being "hmm, that's familiar") Tbh even Taylor's Reputation ..obvious Blackout influence, especially when they were so similar in terms of GP's perception (along with other similarities) I feel ITZ, is not as much about a change of image - from "good" to "bad" but more about experimenting, doing it yourself and tbh even going against the grain in some type of way - Weeknd, Bebe Rexha,Rina S, Lorde (who also got a bit of Blackout)

Rihanna and PCD were pushed. to pop when Britney was ona break. BOMT - lolita innocence OIDA - tease, good girl. with a wink Britney - teen angst/precocious transitory ITZ - college party girl gone wild There's not another female teen star to successfully go multiplatinum as a teen star and successfully transition into an adult pop star as a multiplatinum artist: We won't go into the 50s/60s/70s but none exist 80s - Debbie Gibson/Tiffany both had multiplatinum albums as teen stars. As soon as they became adults, they stopped selling. mid 90s - Brandy, Monica, Lee ann times, and Aaliyah had multiplatinum albums as teen stars. Stopped going multiplatinum as adult stars. Britney breaks the mold and doesn't play it safe and instead of going for the kid/pre-teen/square teens market she expanded her target audience to the max with one song and one visual: kids (4-10) pre-teens (11-12) teens (13-17) college kids 18/early 20s soccer moms perverted dads perverted non dads LGBT Black and Hispanic community. She served edge, rhythm, and broke the mold while packing herself as a southern charm charismatic girl. Her vision for BOMT showed influence from MJ (iconic unique visual and audio which both stood out and fit in with the times), JJ (major dance moves and presence and non threatening), and Madonna (controversy, envelope pushing) She was an innocent naughty girl/naughty innocent girl This allowed her peers from other labels to take a page from her. This also set the blueprint so that the likes of Taylor, Rihanna, Miley, Selena and others wouldn't have the same fate at Debbie/Tiffany/Brandy/Monica/Leean Rimes etc. unfortunately the likes of Hillary Duff, Avril Lavigne and others did follow the same fate as typical teen pop stars who can't keep multiplatinum status as adults. Love both of em still. Rihanna went from being pushed as the Bajan Beyonce (that was the industry's terminology not mine) to Good girl gone bad which was a direct reference from Britney's image at the time...except Britney was going through it so they gave it to Rihanna. Jay Z is a business genius. He saw Rihanna was not working to be the Bajan Beyonce and saw an opening in Britney's position in pop. while PCD took the sex kitten aspect they were never designed for longevity. GGGB was Rihanna's leap into impact in top 40 outside of a single or so. Umbrella was written for Britney and then given to Mary J Blige and Rihanna ended up getting it and many songs from GGGB would have been songs Britney would have received had she gotten her act together. It's all good as Rihanna praised Britney many times and this decision added more to Britney's influence and impact on blueprints. Miley's was more obvious from teen queen to Can't be tamed (her Stronger) and then Bangerz was her In the zone. Selena had her moment as well benefiting from the BritPrint. Ariana was technically and adult as a popstar but she's given Britney credit. The best example is Taylor, though. She is America's sweetheart and she too has been criticized for being mega successful easily more than her peers yet not based on her vocals. She overcompensated with her pen game and business savvy the way Britney did with her sex appeal and iconic visuals/performances. GGGB is the best example of an era/album and Taylor Swift is the best example of playing up the innocent role but also getting flack for shortcomings and being slt shamed in a different way. It's not a coincidence that Madonna, Britney, Taylor are blonde legends who get flack for their vocals yet overcompensated and outsold their peers. andare embedded in pop culture way more than their peers. I truly hope someone does a documentary on showing the different elements of the business model built off of her vision to make BOMT not only appeal to Diseny and Nickelodeon but internationally modernizing and reinventing the blueprint for teen pop stars to successfully transition into multiplatinum adult stars. Phenomenon: Instead of going with I will be there, BOMT was chosen and instead of the corny animated power ranger concept she went with her own which brought the 1M budget down to 300k ($25 an outfit at Kmart). Label/Nigel D,ick's concept was projected for a top 10 hit and 3-5M selling US album and likely 10M WW. Britney's idea launched an 15x platinum eligible debut 30M+ WW, #1 in 25+ countries, matches Stevie wonder as youngest female (to his male) artist to have #1 album and single, matches Whitney Houston and Carole King's 14x platinum debut album stat and both ladies update their certs within the last year or two...BOMT has not been updated in 20 years (2004) and doesn't include digital sales pre. and post comeback as well as streaming units. Youngest artist to have a diamond certified album. Brand: Revamped teen blueprint let's liken it to soda pop (catch the triple entendre). Britney was Cherry Vanilla flavored Pepsi. another franchises needed their Cherry Vanilla flavor (Sprite - Xtina, Sierra Mist-Jessica Simpson, fanta - Willa Ford, 7up-Mandy moore, off brand - Hoku, Root beer - Nivea) Anti-brand: Labels then find the anti pop pop stars to piggyback off of the pop star success capturing the audience that hates the manufactured, pretty, perfect image: P!nk, Avril, Vanessac Carlton, Michelle Branch and others. Answer: Something less manufactured and seemingly more organic with pop appeal (Alicia Keys whos album was pushed back from a 1999 release because Clive and. hisgenius waited for the right time to usher in a singer songwriter pianist who could blend pop eno soul and R&B into mainstream in a less manufactured way (although ironically it. wasvery manufactured)...also had the uprising of Joss Stone, India Arie, Jill Scott, and others Relationship: timberlake, eyerool Beneficiaries of revamped blueprint: Taylor, Rihanna, Miley, Selena, Xtina, Jessica, Mandy etc. Punk pop era: Blackout - exploded the myth that everyone pushed that she was only successful for being young, sexy, manufactured. and with a carefully crafted image. Well, all of that was thrown out the window and we have a double platinum album with multiplatinum hits and honors and accolades to boot. Comeback: restoring most. of the brand (the tarnish didn't go away but it was a refurbished brand a bit (Circus era) Sustainability: (Femme fatale, Not you Britney Jean, and Vegas impact on a top 40 target audience) and legacy awards. Resilience: Free Britney and the Woman in Me TREE Full circle closeout: The branches off of the Woman in Me TREE - NYT best selling book both the first version and volume 2 - future Emmy winning docuseries - future Tony Award winning play. A play that is actually about her life not some wack azz reimagined fairytale characters using her songs to push a feminist agenda. - future Oscar winning movie/biopic - Signature apparel line - Headlining. the summer Olympics (I don't see her wanting to perform at the Superbowl again) - Grammy winning B10 (and other accolades) -Cher style "final" farewell tour (which means she'll have 2 or 3). - Other legacy awards All on her own terms as Matt Rosengart stated and Cade is going ot make sure of it. She controls the narrative and ends on a high note. So I just went on a rant again and forgot the whole reason I replied but year after year I stand by this: I don't care how delusional I appear I am in my onyx hotel bag and will keep putting it out to the universe until 65% of it comes true With the Holy Spearit and in Godney we trust. ASpears.
