Reap what you sow indeed. if only people (mostly the bootlickers and her own team) listened to us when we said that's how it'd end and that the resentment.mp3 would do major damage but oh well not my career, not my problem 1

I personally don't consider Cowboy Carter to be that great and pretty much no one remembers it came out this year. Edited June 19 by Draper. 1

Lose My Breath Posted June 19 Posted June 19 The problem with really genre bending, and in a slight way alienating your fanbase is that you will have to promote, you need performances. The only taste the majority of people got with the album was Texas Hold 'Em, which is one of the weakest tracks. Most people have no idea what they're missing, and it's really sad, because the album is really great. She isn't giving it the attention it deserves. 6
Rafael Posted June 19 Posted June 19 It's soooo sad seeing Lemonade back to being in the pits of streaming like that. It could be heading towards Homecoming/The Gift territory really soon while 4 takes its spot as the classic in the 400K-600K region. Tip tip tip on Spotify floors... 0s 0s 0s across the board... Still love her though 1

Burn Posted June 19 Posted June 19 It's interesting how on Drake's 'For All The Dogs' released half a year before CC he has these radio station type of interludes performed by Snoop Dogg, like the Willie Nelson ones on CC. It's similar to how because of writing Heated he had insight into the direction Bey was going in for Renaissance, and he used it to his advantage to do the same thing but to release his album before she did. Although he didn't work on CC I don't doubt that he knew from the grapevine what Bey was working on. Or it could just be that both of them took inspiration from 'Dawn FM'.
king_queen Posted June 19 Posted June 19 We don't talk about it much but Just For Fun is yet another potential HIT on this album that got away BEYONCÉ DO SOMETHING PLEASE!!!! And while I'm complaining, EIL is the WORST thing Beyoncé has even done to her career. Who tf just RUINS media reverence she had right after Beychella by releasing some ghetto **** like this GURL BYE Take me back to the days where Jay Z was giving interviews saying they would never drop a collab album bc "what they have is real". Can somebody find that interview? I bet TG would've performed way better commercially if EIL never came out 1 1 1 4

Frank Ocean did it in 2012, Janelle did it in 2013, Vince Staples did it in 2018, Dua Lipa did it in 2020. Snoop Dogg did it too. It's been extensively used by rock bands and indie artists too. No big single push = CC is a flop panned album that nobody likes and the material is horrendous. Yet if she had pushed a second single (Bodyguard) and had success everyone would say it's better than Renaissance This is exactly how I imagined it playing out too lol. I remember a similar narrative being pushed about the Rena era until 'Cuff It' blew up. Some of the fonts here were calling 'Break My Soul' a fluke #1 and that Rena would be divisive among the hive because it's dance music. I think I even heard the "it's too long" rhetoric a few times too now, all of the sudden all of ATRL loves the album and some would say it's her best/their favorite album of hers. They legit only recorded it over the course of a couple of weeks to push the flopping tour that she only did to help Jay fulfill his Live Nation contract. When you're frantically recording an album in a makeshift studio in a stadium in the midst of your tour you know you ****** up 2
