It’s crazy how we came close to a Bruno collab not only once but twice before. Lift Off was the first opportunity but Bruno was taken off last minute, then what was the song she was supposed to be on from the Silk Sonic album? I feel like it was Skate but I can’t find anything on it now.

The Silk Sonic one was "Sweet Thing", some random title that kept appearing on tracklistings from Genius, PulseMusic and other sites via "insiders".

ugh i forgot their name but it was a beautiful article discussing her fashion for The Gift. mainly bc it spoke on each fit and piece she wore and how it correlated to Black culture and was perfect for the moment she wore it. im mad bc im still tryna find it.

:jonny5:

thanks for the tip! I'll google that subject matter and see what comes up!

Yes exactly! It's such an obvious non-gimmicky pairing that has a sense of earth-shaking magnificence given what kind of retro-referential artists they both are while being two of the most talented acts in their field with some near-collabs (Lift Off, Super Bowl) but nothing tangible...which would make their output (which would clearly be a hit) not feel desperate for either.

If they were to have a song, to make it a single like 2-3 weeks after release would be an amazing way to sustain the era.

also, I'm not convinced we are getting the visuals with the second act...so this could be a great concession for the public to focus on.

(all purely speculative lol)

i personally want this to be a shorter album, like Lemonade length of 12-13 tracks.

with them rich vocals i want longer songs bc ik we finna have some power ballads. :duca:

I feel like Bruno Mars would be a little disingenuous on a country album, but All I Ask by Adele has been compared to country so I guess it's not a reach.

I suppose I just expect Beyonce to dig deeper than that.

it's beyonce her albums are never just one genre.. are cuff it, church girl, plastic off the sofa, virgo's groove and all up in your mind house songs? either way, they could definitely make a SMASH pop country ballad

What is disingenuous about featuring him on a country album though? Bruno like Beyoncé is a student of music. It seems to make sense on paper except that he's not a country artist, but neither is Beyoncé and I don't think the point of the album is: only Beyoncé + country musicians, but actively carving her own lane through the genre, and in doing so opening it up to others, it might seem in her reclamation.

Also him being a modern R&B artist and Rhythm and Blues, and Blues basically being a Black version of country music, he does have some sonic connection to the genre and thus it would be interesting for him to play with the genre alongside Beyoncé.

I think on the album it would be nice to have a good balance between legitimate country acts and other contemporaries that simply can make great music with her.

I want 20 songs

I mean I'm not mad nor upset so I'm not interested in any back and forth (respectfully)

I'd personally just rather have more left field collabs much like on Renaissance.

Now if Bruno is just promoting a new Vegas residency and the B on his belt was chosen by his stylist to represent...Bruno, I can only be mad at myself for this delusion.

But could you imagine??? :jonny5:

I want to know if she

a) recorded so many songs during Covid without the idea of the acts yet planned, then decided that she could use all the material in 3 acts themed by genre, or

b) consciously decided that she wanted to record 3 albums with these genres, then recorded the music

i love the idea of the collab and it prob be a hit BUT i dont want it to come off like she tapping into a genre and (how critics would say) make a mockery or parody of it. idk if im wording it right.:deadbanana2:

I think its the former. I can imagine her at home in 2020 obsessively researching and piecing together archival songs then calling people up to flesh them out with the act concept in mind

How is she not promoting the pre order :rip:  Nothing on her socials, why not post the new promo vinyl vid on TikTok and insta stories

If the Bey x Bruno collab is real, I hope it's a new track and not a TH'E remix. That would be a total waste.

both can be true imo.

most A-list artists write 50+ songs when creating an album. then its between the artist, producer, and label on what makes the final cut.

after Lemonade i think she wanted to highlight her roots & push black talent more (i suspected this with The Gift, Beychella, BILG, Black Parade she kinda teased the transition i just didnt know when it would happen) but i think COVID gave her the opportunity to analyze how she like to execute this. the 3-act idea prob came during 2020 bc theres so many sides of her thats personal and the public doesn’t really know

We might just get a ukulele power ballad in part Hawaiian about reclaiming your home.
