The mute :bibliahh:

Oh wow the mess that I come back to after one night out :dies:

I finally got to watch the movie last night. It was literally the last showing they had in the Hamburg area, the cinema gods were kind to me, I really thought I was gonna miss it.

I remember when it first came out one of you in here described it like something along the lines of 'her playing the role of a superstar in a movie rather than an actual concert' and I very much agree with that sentiment. I see the vision and what she was going for, and it makes sense given the type of release it had for the big screens. The footage is indeed very nice and flashy and filmed in a more 'cinematic' way if that makes sense, and I can see how it would leave an impression on casual fans and regular movie goers.

Sadly I am just not a fan of the format. Never have, never will be. I found the entire thing extremely distracting. The sound and image were not matching in a lot of instances due to her using footage from various shows in one and with the constant outfit changes it all just made for a very immersion-breaking experience. I liked bits and pieces from each performance but there is honestly not one that I loved from start to finish or felt that it captured the feel of the performance as I experienced it in person. Two things I was particularly disappointed with were cutting the first half of the POTS performance and Miss Honey outro. The POTS segment intro was divine and I was so caught up in it and then it just cuts to somewhere in the middle of the original performance. Virgo's Groove was also one of the moments where they needed to pull all the editing stunts to elevate an underwhelming performance but it somehow made it even worse. It's actually rather funny how the fanbase hails it an an opus for her yet she doesn't seem to give a single **** about the song.

I liked the bts pieces more than I thought I would. I really appreciated the first parts where she put the focus on the army of people that it takes to put on a show of this magnitude. And the uncle Johnny and Tina moments felt very emotional for me. That being said, I did feel like they interrupted the flow of the show and with the huge amount of concert footage on top it overall made for a tedious watch, even as somebody that is a big fan of hers. I'm just the old school type, for me this should have been a 2 disc DVD with one being the documentary and the other the concert footage.

Finally, beggers can't be choosers and I'm glad that this movie exists and it immortalized this amazing tour which is a very rare achivement for somebody at this stage in their career. But honestly I'm not sure I will go back to it as much as I would've liked to. Same reason I don't go back to the MCSWTx10 all that often and watch YT videos of the performances instead, and the Renaissance film is that on steroids.

Her best concert film will always remain her Coachella performance to me. No, not Homecoming, but the raw, unedited live-streamed footage of her first weekend there. 2 hours of pure performance bliss that is a real and accurate testament to how spectacular of a performer this woman is, and one that I watch religiously to this day.

She did not troll you, you trolled yourselves. There was no reason to expect anything and yet you thought she was gonna release the visuals or the live album or whatever. There's no reason for her to do that during an event in Brazil. She did a nice thing for her fans, she clearly cared for them and she felt guilty because she didn't bring the tour there, so she decided to pop up and surprise them. She did nothing bad, except the air pollution... She did not promise or announce anything, but you all got hyped. You overhype some small signs and you get all mad when she does nothing.  Stop doing that to yourselves.

Brazil dates have been rumored left and right, then Beyonce shows up in Brazil after a 10 year hiatus for the premier of the tour movie where she keep insisting that the Renaissance is not over.

These are not small signs and Brazilian fans have every right to be mad right now.

But she explicitly said that the Kansas show was the last one and she did the film which means that the tour is over. She might be in negotiations for another tour, but she's not announcing that before act ii, and act ii isn't coming soon since the film is still showing. If anything comes, it would be a streaming release for the film and the live album and the visuals. I do believe she will release them. And even if she doesn't, it's still not time for the new tour. She cant plan it that fast. Everyone just continues to be delusional only to have meltdowns when nothing happens, and nothing was happening in the first place.

i get the point and agree but flying over there to say hi and leave is utterly pointless

sure it’s cute for the brazilian fans and they really deserved it yada yada but if she cared that much about them she would simply perform there

even just yesterday, she could’ve sang a song or two, sing DIL with a pianist and a guitarist idk something super lowkey but at least something (which the old beyonce would’ve done btw)

it’s a super cute thing to do but some hive painting it as this otherworldly, selfless and loving gesture when it’s clearly not is

BR fans don’t want crumbs, we want the whole meal. Performing a song yday wouldn’t change the situation. Give us the datessssss. And this is coming from someone who traveled to watch her in concert.

ofc it wouldn’t but at least it would’ve been a useful crumb… this one was cute but utterly useless in the end :biblio:

I think it’s nice she went. She could’ve easily just released a video message. She will definitely go next time.

The media have been trolling Brazilians saying dates were still coming, be mad at them.

What’s the difference in her flying to London for the premiere? It’s good press, she is selling a movie and it shows she cares.

It really is one of her best albums, and OFTEN slept on, and lumped with her albums pre 4, when it should be included with the masterpieces, BEYONCE, Lemonade, and Rennie

So on January 4th, is she going to release a press release saying the Renaissance IS over?  Cause I'm going to need her to announce it when it is

for me it has always been the stepping stone and turning point in her career where she went from "pop star" to auteur and creative force. it's actually maybe the most important record of her career because without it we would've never gotten the holy trinity that is Beyoncé-Lemonade-Renaissance. but yeah, its generally very slept on and underrated. also, the bonus tracks>>>

People are the complete oposite of mad over here :skull:.  She's being praised to high heavens, specially because she did this in Bahia instead of the usual São Paulo/Rio. That was quite a move from her part. It meant a lot for the black community in Brazil and for that region in the country which is often overlooked when it comes to big events where people often neglect it and focus only on São Paulo/Rio.

yeah everyone thought it was super sweet of her part fr

we don't know what happened behind the scenes after all those months of speculations we would have a brazilian leg of her tour. it's been three tours that we're skipped. my two cents are in logistics or dates. logistics because the rena stage and props are massive in comparison to her mrs. carter tour. dates because brazil was packed with soccer tournaments and international concerts this year. I have a feeling the dates she wanted weren't available and she would have to rethink the whole european and north american dates (which would have been even harder to do tbh). Bey has performed in way worse brazilian logistics in the late-2000s, so unless she secretely doesn't like performing here that's my bet on the reasoning why were skipped and yesterday she did a cute mea culpa recognizing the brazilian hive. if she cares that much for a two minute appearance, hopefully this will translate in a priority for her next tour (whenever that happens)

I'm sure she likes performing in Brazil, but I think the cost is just really high probably for transport and travel, and maybe it wouldn't make financial sense, and I don't think it would be fair to give them a lesser show for the same cost.
