is this a safe space? No barbz in here? Are we going to attempt to get our lick back or did Nicki end herself with that bad album? We can’t forget when the barbz leaked RENAISSANCE and said it was terrible. They hated us ever since we teamed up with Meg.

Nicki is so 2000 and late. Who cares? Literally.

it’s actually crazy to me that people would think beyoncé would go as far as to entirely scrap an entire visual album. go back and watch the self titled BTS videos - she LIVES for music videos and visuals of any kind. beyoncé is giving us an era ERA. the visuals overshadowed self-titled and lemonade and aside from the tour… that was it for album cycles - she said we’re taking our time with the music and that’s exactly what we’ve done. the visuals will come out to culminate and end the era as a last hurrah.

What would you guys say is her best tour: Formation vs Renaissance?

I know this is unpopular but Formation.

It's just flawless star to finish, whereas Renaissance is great on paper but too inconsistent at times.

There's no dull moment throughout the Formation show, it goes at 110% speed constantly, all the outfits were amazing, she was at the peak of her performing capabilities and contrary to what a lot of people here say there was quite the decent vocal showcase too. I agree the Renaissance show stomps in that department, but we still had moments like Me, Myself & I, Running, All Night, 1+1, Love on Top, The Beautiful Ones and Halo during Formation.

I love her carefree attitude & charisma during Renaissance, it's a very refreshing change of pace for her. The fact that her voice sounds better than ever is mind blowing and they also went the extra mile with the staging this time around. As cool as the monolith was they got more creative now, there's so many great sets throughout the show. That being said, among many great moment there's quite a few performances that felt undercooked, they didn't take advantage of the cool stage they built and once she started changing costumes it's been very hit or miss, with everything being subpar to the original opening night outfits bar the Opulence segment maybe.

I see the potential in the Renaissance show, but there's too many things I would change about it to consider it better than Formation. It would have to be the outfits and looks from the first part of the tour, with the energy and performing of the second half of the tour, and with revamped performances for Cuff It, Virgo's Groove, AHAP and Summer Renaissance at the very least.

Visually : RWT > FWT

Setlist : FWT > RWT

Staging : RWT = FWT

Vocally : RWT > FWT

Choreo : FWT > RWT

It bugs me a lot that Formation is her only tour to not be immortalized in one way or another. We had The Beyoncé Experience DVD, I Am...World Tour DVD, Revel which was extremely similar to MCSWT13, the X10 series for MCSWT14, HBO special for OTR, a cinematic release for Renaissance... well there's OTR II too but that's arguably the weakest so nobody cares, plus most of it was recycled Beychella so there's that

Does anyone think she'll acknowledge the 10th anniversary of ST next week?

Seeing how her debut's 20th anniversary went unnoticed I won't get my hopes up but it would be nice if she did one of those insta posts talking about what that whole thing meant for her in retrospective. It was such a monumental milestone in her career..

I mean it makes sense - French LOVE art and glamour + it has a quite big African community due to their colonist past

She's made it clear she's in a different place in her life, though. She's not going to put out something she's not happy with just because she's expected to. It's also quite telling the movie is called Renaissance: The Film and she left the line "You are the visuals" in the movie.

I'm not saying it's impossible they'll come out, but it's not crazy people think the visuals aren't coming. The signs are all there.

And it was only shown in selected theaters, most of them only had one showing (although Champs-Elysées for example had to add two others on each day) and only for two days. Not bad, not bad.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is not elegible for Best Documentary Feature:

https://variety.com/2023/film/awards/oscars-eligibility-animated-documentary-international-feature-2023-1235827670/amp/

According to Variety:

Quote

The Special Rules Section, Part B, states: “Works that are essentially promotional or instructional are not eligible, nor are works that are essentially unfiltered records of performances.”

Which is understandable and would be acceptable if not for the fact that Warners' 1970 film of Woodstock actually won Best Documentary and that is over three solid hours of music performances. So the Oscars can suck my ass

What's the reason?

I mean, in a way it's a just a 30-minute documentary in the middle of 2 hours of show. :toofunny2:

Maybe she just didn’t submit. We will know when they show the list of elegible songs. :michael:

I choose to keep clowning about the visuals. She cut a few moments like intros and interludes in the film, but she kept "you've asked for the visuals but a queen moves at her own pace." I think it was fun during the tour but keeping that in the movie is making me think she still plans on dropping them.
