Some of y'all wanting the docu part of the film cut when we get a glimpse of her personality literally once every five years. Just go watch clips of the concert on YouTube :giraffe:

Artistic disaster for a film called RENAISSANCE to cut inconsequential songs from the setlist that are sprinkled in, not integral in any way to the message? I duno about that.

I Care is objectively one of her most intricate song to sing, while 1+1 showcased the beauty of her improvisation. Love On Top was hands down the most organic part of the show.

Those moments were integral to the show just like any other song off the setlist, don't be misleaded by such a short-sighted reasoning. They might not be flashy or Renaissance'd-coded, but are extremely representative of Beyoncé's inner Artistic side.

That was the best one too since it’s the performance she went the hardest. Well I can’t be too mad, the film is almost here

the way she did 4 dirty like that, yet declared it to be her own fav album at the opening night in Stockholm before singing RDY :rip: obsessed with her shenanigans

No shade but I already saw the tour live

It being a full length doc like life is but a dream would have been more new content compared to recordings of performances tbh

This just cut my excitement level in half tbh

shameful decision

Those have become B live performance staples and are not as fast-paced for a movie theatre setting, so I understand their omission (but hope they are included in a complete live album edition).

However, the only aspect I'm sad about is that the "1+1/Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" medley for Tia Mowry (LA on B's birthday, I think) is not included in the film with actual, professional footage of Tia geeking out to the sudden song change. Putting on an "Oscars Documentary" cap, it would have tied in very well to a 5-minute vignette with the Girl's Tyme footage of them practicing that exact song, a brief glimpse of Tia & Tamera performing it with their group "Voices" in the music video, and narrated knowledge that many young, talented Black girls were trying to make it big at that same DC moment via girls groups ran by producers who created production companies. You would then cut to the Birthday speech shouting out the 4 other principal members, and then their hug / appearances in Houston.

I'm not saying none of them are great moments or don't represent who she is as an artist, just that thematically and artistically this is the RENAISSANCE film. All of those songs have been performed at least in three other documented and released concerts. There's really no artistic need for them to be present when there are others that better fit the vibe and speak to the tour's theme, speak to her artistry just as well, or simply are more upbeat/fun (like the album is), and have more interesting setups than her being at the microphone stand, sitting on a piano, or asking the audience to sing.

And I LOVED LOT but part of why it was so great was because it surprised me. Having seen it done many times on film before, it never actually felt the way it feels to do it in person with Beyoncé, seeing her genuine reaction to what YOU are singing, etc. It's a nice moment to have in the film, but it could never capture the actual feeling, and since she's included it in films already many times, is it really a necessary component?

Maybe there’ll be a directors cut when the DVD comes out? :giraffe:

Why cut all those ballads but NOT flaws and yawns?

It's the damn tank section that should've gone but because Blue was part of it she had to keep it in

Beyoncé served additional vocals even on songs that do not require vocals like COZYDiva and AHAP...what do you mean "what's left?" there's plenty.

Objectively great moments, but still scraps.

You're deluding yourself if you expect such a secretive person like her to open up. She doesn't communicate with her fanbase, what makes you think that she'll confide in the GP?

If you need the film to be convinced that Bey is a top tier vocalist, then you will never be convinced.

I agree that Partition/Savage could’ve been cut too but Megan came and saved that little section :hippo:

She coulda cut those, honestly

OTHER THAN 1+1, that was the vocal highlight of the show with IGD

She shoulda dropped F+A instead

In the trailer she very clearly talks about letting go of perfection. This song exemplifies that right off the bat.

She definitely let go of perfection when she decided to add that snooze to the setlist, for sure

Not one day in this base goes by where people are satisfied or even accepting of things as they are. Very intriguing.
