Chris Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Sorry is the MOST iconic thing about Lemonade >>> Sorry, I don't make the rules. You'll only want me when I'm not there. Call Becky with the good hair. 1
Chris Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 And while we are on the topic of Lemonade for the MILLIONTH time since there isn't s*it to discuss until the show tonight..... Show your appreciation for Hold Up and Pray You Catch Me. Go on.
Devin Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 My Top 5 from Lemonade remains the same. - 6 Inch - Love Drought - Sorry (Demo) - Freedom - DHY
simon Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 I watched her "Im That Girl" & "Cozy" performances in Boston! I was stunned! She is truly the greatest performer of all time.
kimberly Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 my Limoncello review: Pray You Catch Me - good intro, ok as a standalone song. Hold Up - bop, but it aged just a tad bit (the airhorns date it I think). Don't Hurt Yourself - talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it Sorry - demo is the superior version. 6 Inch - this really hits omg I kinda forgot about it for a bit there but was an early fave for me. Daddy Lessons - the CMA performance version is immaculate, but this is a little too yeehaw for my day to day listening. Love Drought - talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, showstopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it [2] Sandcastles - this used to make me cry omg. it holds up for me. Forward - never really appreciated this. it's fine as an interlude I guess? Freedom - an anthem. All Night - makes me want to sleep on the highway after taking a nice bubbly bath with my toaster. Formation - the gaggery! she had us bookmarking unlisted YouTube videos to listen to this. the live version eats. 5

Fleahive Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Sandcastles is a bit cringe. Too many runs, girl just sing straight without doing the most. “That I couldn’t STAaAaAaAaAaAaAay BAY BEH BUUUUHHHHH” also that forced fake vocal crack is giving wannabe Sia. I thought we left her in 2014. 1 2

The replacement card is coming on Wednesday and still got my merch. 6

swtamira Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Weighing in a little late maybe, but Adele's music mainly consisting of power ballads and her performance style being what it is makes a lot of people think she is an A+ vocalist, she is not. That and her being way less controversial than Bey (a black woman that is better at everything than the white girls doesn't sit right with them) add to it as well. 3 1
swtamira Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 (edited) Spoiler Freedom didn't have the most fortunate aging I'm scared to say what song on Lem aged the worst for me. I feel the downvote parade. Edited August 5, 2023 by swtamira 2

It sucks Beyoncé doesn’t have more ballads she set herself up to lose every time this conversation comes up. And when she does sing a powerhouse song she doesn’t give it her all. She’s half assing dangerously in love and hasn’t sang love in top ending in full since the lipped vma performance. Adele’s When We Were Young performance rehearsal on YouTube gonna eat her up every time until then. Edited August 5, 2023 by Fleahive 1 3 2

This is just as reductive as only bringing numbers when talking about success. Yeah, she may not have the best technique, but I’ve never seen anyone being able to do an accurate impersonation of her tone and style (tone is the “impact” of the comparison). Like, she’s more than good enough to be considered a great vocal performer. Technique isn’t everything when some “mistakes” in your technique are part of your vocal style.

I'm not talking about technique. Her performances always have all the attention on the vocals, there's nothing wrong with that but its just more highlighted than with someone like Bey. She's great but not the best.

Adele’s When We Were Young performance rehearsal on YouTube gonna eat her up every time until then. She's a perfectionist and too much of an overthinker, which causes her to be insicure from time to time. She rarely gives her all during a televised performance since she's afraid of messing up despite being aware of her God-given talent. A literal oxymoron. Now, virtually every single performance of hers has been outstanding since the DC days, they're exceptional indeed, but they're pretty average considering her standards. She tends not to show off, with some exceptions here and there (Stevie Wonder tribute, IIWAB @ Grammys, Chime For Change, Glastonbury, etc.). If it hadn't been for the amateur footage of her concerts during these years, now we all would be clueless about 90% of her real capabilities... As an introvert I kind of relate to her though. She feels comfortable to give her best only when she's singing for us at her concerts. 1
