I was checking Kworb, and why is Time doing so well on Spotify?

Maybe bc people are just finding out about it now? Like me bc why was there no promo for this at all?

Also it seems like it's fitting as it's a holiday type of song (a reach ik but she says "it's a holiday" in the song)

I just checked Childish Gambino's stats on Kworb and Time isn't at the top, so maybe there is some glitch?

It's weird that an older song with 21M total streams is suddenly doing 4M streams daily.

That's what I thought too tbh.

The fact that I saw Dangerous Woman Tour live and I may never see her again in my country is sending me tbh :dies:

But who cares? I just hope she has truly found her peace this time. She will never stop giving us music though, she's too passionate for that to happen.

yeah that's what i'm thinking too. she went from deluxe album coming, filmed a trippy music video and teasing a potential "mini tour" to saying she's taking a break to focus on acting for the next few years which means she likely booked something and needs to be available.

i hope she does something original next, like not an already established character or IP. also would be interesting to see her in a movie without any music/singing involved since most of her acting gigs thus far have been musicals or have music involved in some aspect.

I think it's still possible for her to release

ES Dlx after awards season. when she will be filming  new project.

without promo tho.

I read her words again, and it feels like she was talking more about touring.

If there's no new music, that's okay too. I just don't think she would have reminded fans about the ES teasing from a year ago if nothing related to it was coming. She'd likely just stay quiet to avoid annoying fans while still reminding them that she's a singer too at this point.

It's very kind of her to change careers given that I don't currently have the disposable income to get front row seats!

I think ES deluxe (and that music video she teased; maybe it is for a new single from the deluxe) will be released on 1 year anniversary or around the summer

I want a new side project from her, a joint EP with Cynthia, which would consist of original songs and covers. :jonny5:

I know she will prob want to book acting roles in the comedy lane but I'd love to see her in a drama/thriller... a Black Swan-esque role would gag and I know she has it in her.

How are we feeling? I want to posit some shower thoughts somewhere because the recent developments have me thinking again, but I don't want to write a novel.

  • This is kind of feeling like the Pete era again. I'm tired of seeing her gift and her greatest artistic achievements being clouded by nonsense she has unfortunately brought onto herself.  I've been here long enough to know it comes with the territory, but I'd like to see the growth we keep talking about on the record actually enacted in real time. We're all getting older and this is getting boring. I felt unnerved by the beginning of this last year because of the way the information was disseminated. Her team was egregiously transparent in doctoring a spin nobody in their right mind would believe. I don't care who she dates or what happened. I can reckon with the only artist I truly love and have a parasocial attachment to doing not so great things. I care about the work being the central focus and it hasn't been since... 34+35.

  • I'm fine with her taking a break from pop music. She needs it. I would like to offboard some of the younger fans before she tours again. I love eternal sunshine sonically, but it doesn't fully accomplish what it's setting out to do lyrically and it's because she's not bold enough to really take it there. She's telling us to say that **** with our chest, yet hiding her hand and putting gag orders on people. Please BFFR. Monica singing the most important lyrics of the record on a remix nobody listened to shows me there's fatigue here we're not ready to reverse yet. The concept is there, execution is not, bar we can't be friends. I don't love this as her sendoff because there is so much sonically for her left to still explore, but it's clear she's not interested in deviating from the norm in this space yet and choreographed her 30s for getting into multi-hyphenate status. It's whatever.

  • It is woefully ironic that we're watching this era of her career coincide with her playing a character that is both charismatic and enchanting whilst also being cowardly and complicit. Nothing happening here is the end of the world (intro), but it's a really on-the-nose 1:1 that's kind of gagging me. With all that being said, I will be seated in the theatres for the sing-a-long version this month and giving opera down during NOMTW. We cheered as cinematic history was made.

The drama will pass. As much as it's exhausting that this story has to resurface, nothing new really has been said that we didn't already hear in July 2023 right?

I do agree though that this album probably did miss the mark from what it should have done, as much as I do like it. I almost feel like just putting out WCBF as a standalone single would've been the best way to address everything. Because it says "Say what you're gonna say, I know whether I speak or don't speak on it I may only make it worse, so I'll just wait it out until you all decide you like me again" without insulting its audience the way Yes, And? did attempting as some sort of kiss off anthem no one was wanting.

And let's be real, this album was practically a bathroom break project during Wicked filming. Ariana was thrown through a tornado between two movies and attempting to navigate a divorce and these homewrecking allegations. I think much more time to reflect more deeply on everything she's gone through would've resulted in a more focused and honest message. But I also understand that she knew this was her one chance to put out some music before she went back to being a full time actress and people were demanding answers from her, so she was walking a fine line trying to give them that while also recognizing the power imbalance between her and Ethan's ex wife who is not a public figure.

Totally agree with everything you said, but especially this. It's crazy that it's like blatantly fanservice and nothing else and yet is still so strong, imagine if she actually had passion for this **** still :deadbanana4:

I disagree with this a lot, the Pete drama was too much and too stupid, it was just so extremely annoying and her being chronically online made everything worse

people cared about the Ethan stuff last year but no one cares anymore, it may seem like that but it's only because we're stans and keep with everything that happens revolver her, but in reality no one cares, I have even seen many posts from locals talking about how little they care and that's it's such a stupid drama

also, now that she's in the acting/film industry people care even less, lots of actors have awful reputations for cheating (and even worse), I think that as long as they break up (which they will eventually lol) this wont hurt her

Also, I personally love ES, but I agree with this being something just to please the fans, but that's also a good move, over 4 years with no album would've damaged her music career even more :celestial5:

I agree with you about her fake growing as a person lol, she's mostly the same, I don't get how at her age and after so many relationships she still falls in love like a dumb teenager and acts stupid :rip:

Oh dw, I agree. I'm not saying it's as bad (there's NO way it could be), I'm just likening it to another time where it was frustrating following her. Truly nothing could compare to that period of time because of how over-the-top and sickening the things he was doing was. It pisses me off so much that it's legit like off the record now and the details were lost to time, because it explains a lot about why she moves the way that she does. But it's probably for the best. :deadbanana4:

I love to hear your opinions about her career/persona but I don't agree with most of it this time. I don't think ES was fan service to please her fanbase, in that case she would've hired a writing camp to write Dangerous Woman (album) type of songs, slapped her vocals on it and put it out with no effort, instead she did most of it by herself and gave us what is objectively her best and most cohesive album, plus also did a decent promo tour which is something we never got after Sweetener.

About the Ethan/personality mess, I do agree that she is dumb when it comes to relationships, she acts like a 15 years old, falls in love every year and then forgets about the person in question within minutes, I think Mac was probably the only one she will never forget because of how it started and ended, his passing was kind of a rude awakening as she had moved on with Pete and even got engaged, only to realize she didn't love him. Like how do you go that far without even being sure, and then got married to Dalton after a short lived relationship - during the pandemic, which is like the worst time to make decisions because it was kind of like a bubble.

I don't really care to be honest, I've never cared about her relationships and never will care like that, nor am I going to be moralistic and call her out for whatever happened with Ethan and their marriages, it's a pity that she puts herself in these controversial positions though, all her boyfriends are completely irrelevant and it's a shame that tabloid stuff has to overshadow her amazing career. Thank god she's been private about her relationships since 2019.

Anyways, I just hope she moves on to the next guy soon and it is someone unproblematic - who hasn't been in a relationship for the past two years - so that we can enjoy Wicked and whatever comes next peacefully.

This felt so innovative at the time, it's still very cool now actually. I hate that she never did more with these gloves.
