Why is BB going backwards? Why increase sales influence and lower streaming....

Cause they dont want a Hot 100 that is 80% streaming. Understandable

So, in this radio issue.

How the hell do they know someone didn't change the station?

If they play, let's say, a Beyoncé song and I change stations real quick, how do they know I did it and they aren't counting my % of their supposed audience for their chart? What if 90% of their audience changed the station and went back to it 5 mins later when they realized "If U Seek Amy" was playing? How do they know they lost most of their audience while playing certain song? It's not like 99% of those who changed station will call the radio station and say "girl, don't play that thing again". And they won't call to suggest a song neither. I have friends working for radio stations and they just choose whatever they like, adding unfair weight to the songs they say it's popular.

I'd also like to this actually

Well, they calculate audience numbers using estimates of how many people are listening to a station at a given time of a day. Every station has to do some marketing research with their city or town and come up with quality estimates regarding those numbers. Say that for one city that approximately 0.6M people are listening to a pop station at 5pm on a Wednesday. Then, if a song gets played at that time, it's awarded 0.6M AI. They're not actually tracking every listener.

makes sense and seems fair, I guess the people switch out from a song is negated by people switching into a song

Rise LOTB rise :alexz:

So it Pandora streams are now included, does this mean newer songs are going to have a harder time debuting in the top 10/#1 because they take a while to be added to Pandora playlists?

I feel like Ed would've been blocked if it would've happened that week.

the premier of the movie is in 2 weeks, to me thats big opportunity for them to be number 1, that week can be huge for them in streaming and sales

Exactly my point. In Sales and Streaming you can guess who actually bother to search for a song, or click on them, or play a streaming list and don't skip songs. In Airplay you don't even know if someone was actually listening, what if everyone in the world was actually turning off their radio everytime Dark Horse was playing? Yet radio said millions were listening? Radio is NOT a factor to track the hottest songs out there. If they decide to play Million Reasons non-stop they will do it and increase its chart position when actually nobody checks for it.

That would stop Closer one week from tying UFs and HDILs 25 week Top 5 record, but Closer could easily slip back in, or stay. I don't want Closer to break UFs record though.

So that would become M5's 9th Top 5 hit.

The BuzzAngle/Hits Daily Double Streaming Songs chart doesn't help that much anymore since they still don't include SoundCloud & Pandora in their tabulations.

I'm sure BA & HDD will work on getting access to those numbers. They don't want to be left behind by BB.

Looking at predictions, LOTB top 10 should happen, right? Seeing that multiple songs above it are falling hard now.

With IDWLF at #5 we already know that sales influence was increased.

I think the jumps made by Country songs this week also shows BB boosted the strength of sales. As Simm said, BB doesn't want an 80% streaming chart. Having one metric that's too dominant skews the H 100's accuracy. Also, not every genre streams as well as Pop/Rhythmic/Urban. Neglecting to keep sales at a certain proportion of the H 100 means the formats, some of which are still "popular" but haven't embraced streaming as quickly, also keeps the H 100 from being too dominated by songs succeeding at just one component from taking over the chart. Considering some streaming songs receive neither airplay nor sales support, so adjusting the metrics to ensure the success of well-rounded singles over those that depend too much on just one component of popularity.
