I wonder when we'll see the next 500k+ first week-selling song. It would obviously take a really catchy song with a huge bandwagon and a lot of media coverage and memes to get there, but who can do all that simultaneously?.

The only artist i can see pulling +500k or even 1M first week is and will always be Adele without any meme, media coverage or huge bandwagon. Only her comeback is enough.

Her comeback did so well BECAUSE of the media coverage and huge bandwagon, though. Plus, Hello is a great (and really catchy) song.

500k? :rip: lol

Even if Adele released this year, she wouldn't touch 400k.

Even Taylor's comeback did around 350k so i guess it's pretty safe to say that Adele can pull over 500k easily. Remember when everyone thought she would sell only 500-600k first week but she ended up selling 1,2M?

Yeah but she had tons of hype (coming after 21, one of the biggest ever) the song was amazing, sales fell a lot in the last 3 yeard etc.

But she's not even releasing this year so, iTunes could truly be closed by then

I don't think even ADELE can touch 500k sales in today climate. Sales are dead and have had a huge decline in the last few years (after Hello and 25) and also her hype won't be as huge as last time. The end of 25 era showed her decline.
