Graves Posted August 19 Posted August 19 It's a shame about Ro turning out to be... you know. A Kylie / Jessie / RM sequel rate would've been cute otherwise. Maybe RAYE or, god forbid, Ava could fill a slot with the two ladies.
Graves Posted August 19 Posted August 19 (edited) Also, we could wait a little bit for Sabrina to release her album and then throw her, Chappell, and Tinashe (stay with me now!) in for a TikTok Girl Summer rate. or or or Take Off: The Rising Stars of '24 - Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx and the sequel rate Failure to Launch: The Underdog Girls - Tate McRae, Tinashe, ...Kim Petras? I think these for sure will generate buzz again. Maybe we just do 1-2 blockbusters for the remaining summer into fall, then crank out some minors/indies to get back into regularly schedule?
Suilen Posted August 20 Posted August 20 The winner of the first part of The Kumi Koda Singles Rate is TABOO. The demand for the second part is here, so it'll probably happen later this year in November.

No, I like this direction! Shorter (3-4 album) rates to get us back on board! Okay, some ideas THIS WAS POP 2023 Part 1 Miley Cyrus/Kylie Minogue/Jessie Ware/Troye Sivan THIS WAS POP 2023 PART 2 Chappell Roan/Tate McRae/PinkPantheress/RAYE @supaspaz still wants to do the BIG girls for THIS WAS 2024... but a part two (Charli, Tinashe, Sabrina, maybe Kacey?) could be started soon!

And the big girls is Taylor vs. Beyoncé vs. Dua vs. Billie vs. Charli? Or did Ms. Peep get demoted?
ATRL Moderator supaspaz Posted August 21 ATRL Moderator Posted August 21 Oh right, Ariana, not Charli. Truly forgot she released an album!
Graves Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I would be willing to step up for one of those in a co-hosting role if somebody wants to share the load with me!
prézli Posted August 31 Posted August 31 4 weeks left until the deadline of the Ashlee Simpson Discography Rate! Come and ragdoll!
jacklovesyou1 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Honestly to get rates going again i think we just need to bring back iconic albums in rates and stop that weird rule that we can't use them once they are used or at least put a shorter cap on once used can't used within say 4 years or w/e

Saddy Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) @Ace Reject I got this interesting idea. What do you think about me hosting a rate between Mariah, Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Celine (and I'm thinking about adding Cher too) debut albums? I don't know if someone already hosted this in the past tbh Edited September 10 by Saddy
jacklovesyou1 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I still think it would be interesting to host a ex act rate in different rounds like Ari vs demi vs miley vs selena and one era at a time 1st album etc etc then each winning album will go to the finals where we would rate the winning albums combined together like for example bangerz vs when the sun goes down vs yours truly vs unbroken or whatever ... although the issue with this would most likely be if someone like ari wins every round it'll just turn into a discography rate so idk if not i think we should try a main pop girl discography rate again soon the recent taylor one hosted by forever winter just reached 400 pages so people are still here for them .. who's the next most popular pop girl on this forum idek anymore but yeah looking forward to the future of the rates @Ace Reject

Saddy Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Here's The Holy Quinternity (Mimi, Madonna, Janet, Whitney and Celine) debut album rate
Into The Void Posted September 16 Posted September 16 (edited) On 8/19/2024 at 10:57 AM, Ace Reject said: Thank you for the response! I totally get it - it can become untenable for some, and so many people don't want to try anything new! And yet... just a glimpse of the 2023 albums that have not been rated: Madison Beer Chloe Miley Cyrus Ava Max Tate McRae Kylie Minogue Roisin Murphy Kim Petras Pink PinkPantheress Renee Rapp RAYE Chappell Roan Tinashe Troye Sivan Jessie Ware You can understand my frustration - that's an ASTOUNDING number of albums to go unrated! Some fall on the wrong side of transphobia (hi Roisin) or the wrong side of quality (Ava, Kim) - but, come on people! And yes you can do your Ayumi rate! Ill gladly host a rate with some of these albums I think Tate McRae- Think Later Troye Sivan -STGEO Madison Beer- Silence Between Songs then 2 more maybe Kylie / Ava Miley ?? That to me does not sound like a winner of a lineup! I'm so... confused on how to handle 2023 and 2024 albums! Calling all angels! What I'm thinking is this: This Was Pop 2023 Part 1: Kylie/Jessie/Troye/Chappell/Miley TWP 23 Part 2: Tate/Madison/PinkPantheress... fill in the blank for the other one (or two). As for 2024? @supaspaz would you be doing both TTPD and that anthology or whatever? 31 tracks plus all of Cowboy Carter... that's an ask in today's world!
Graves Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Chappell belongs in a tier above the other folks in that rate. She's an it-girl and the others are has-been / niche fave. Beloved has-been, don't get me wrong, but still.
Ewan Chaos Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Big artists like Miley & Chappell with those other artists in part 1 feels weird to me too imo. Feel like it should be Jessie-Kylie-Troye-Ava... if you HAVE to include her maybe Roisin but I just cannot with her TERF ass. Then Miley-Chappell-Pink.... idk those are the only real "big" artists left from that list that make a decent listing. I guess Tate too, she had a smash and mini hit from her album. Maybe PP since she had a hit too. 2023 was just tough since it's hard to pair off all the albums in a way that makes sense since TW2023 was kinda a weird mix. Sounds like TW2024 will be weird too with the Taylor inclusion since I thought TW was meant to just be based on critic scores (not sales) but idk.
Graves Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Miley can stay, she's definitely more of a Kylie tier act than a Chappell one Honestly, call it unorthodox, but I still think Chappell belongs in a rate with the 2024 it girls. Chronology be damned, nobody was playing that album until this year anyway.
