I did this pretty quick because damn I have a lot of other stuff to do rn and I didn't want to start something I wouldn't have motivation to finish later. Hope u got some sweet new tunes though! That song is cute! I think BENEE's song is good. It's very like, modern radio pop sh!t but Lily Allen and Flo really make it a huge bop. The chorus is nice and catchy. I didn't actually like her 2016 release much, but this is a definite improvement. Oh yeah, her 2019 droplets were nice, except Vibe. Wtf was Vibe?! I got a system For my finnish girlies, radio helps and checking the recent local releases from the biggest physical music distributor. Also find some stuff in the '' newest finnish music '' playlist that gets updated every Friday. For japanese stuff I check this one youtuber that compiles all recent big releases and some smaller ones weekly. Also is good the check the newest anime and their openings endings as well. For US/other stuff, I check illegal music download sites and their recent releases. Last.fm's '' related artists '' and '' recommended artists '' can also bring some good stuff. And regarding Replay, do you want me to cry? Do you want me to cry right here, right now? Because I'll do it. Don't mock Replay, it's my favorite Gaga song ever right now Rain On Me is great, but Replay is magnificent. I truly do not understand ppl who dislike it or think it's average like no, this is magic in audio form! YES I truly cannot be friends with anyone who hates on my favorite Gaga song (jk, kinda) Replay definitely needed to be a single. But too late now when miss FadGa is in bed eating oreos and preparing to be a movie star again ugh. Absolutely, glad we agree on that!

10. King Gnu - 三文小説 (Youtube | Spotify) King Gnu has blown up in Japan big time, and I don't question why for a minute. When you do talent, that is what happens, yup. The DRAMA in this song, oh wow, oh WOW. Now that is magnificent. Satoru's vocals make me want to melt into ground. They bring me a tear into my eyes, and the combination of Satoru and Daiki and their vocals is insane in this song particular. If you didn't believe Japan is the GOD of rock ballads, this song should change your mind for sure. I can't get enough of this song. The chorus, the verses, the layers, the instruments, THE VOCALS. Ah, perfection. The modern dance routine in the music video is breathtaking as well. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this one, is a perfect rock ballad. 9. M - En koskaan (Youtube | Spotify) This song is like straight out of a psychological horror film, and it definitely has AHS intro vibes in the best ways. M always delivers extremely offputting, uncomfortable, anxiety inducing '' you are being followed by something demonic or a serial killer or a stalker '' kind of music in their album, and it's always so good. M is one of those artists that manages to paint very vivid pictures with their music. The music video is kind of perfect, extremely low budget (barely any budget at all), but manages to really capture the perfect kind of atmosphere and imagery for the song. The instrumental is HOT, and the vocals are very eerie. Halloween is already passed, but if you want something slightly spooky for the start of December, this song is the one for you! 8. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande - Rain On Me (Youtube | Spotify) An iconic, timeless classic in the making. I loved the song the minute I pressed play, and boy, you bet Rain On Me was on repeat the entire day. The release of ROM was probably the best thing about the entire Chromatica era: Gaga and Ariana going back and forth with each other, posting memes and being excited. It was the best of times, and afterwards everything fell apart. Regardless of my opinion on the era, Rain On Me is a flawless song that hasn't aged a day. On the contrary, it keeps getting better and better. Let's not act as if this isn't one of the greatest female popstar duets of all time, come on now. From the horns at the start to the final RAIN. ON. ME. It's amazing, and easily one of, if not the best Gaga single ever. She did that, she did, that! And the music video plus the look from the cover are some of Gaga's best ever. 7. M - Se tuli mua vastaan (Youtube | Spotify) More M, of course. While En koskaan is more experimental (though barely) and kind of further away from regular mainstream pop music, Se tuli mua vastaan is definitely more radio ready pop, and even then it manages to be completely unique and wonderfully eclectic. I enjoy how the song progresses into this explosive chorus full of layers, and the vocals really are beautiful in this song. The distroted electric guitar kind of instrument is so good, and adds a lot to the otherwise quite plain but pretty instrumental. I just really adore this song, and to this day the final chorus kind of blows my mind. 6. Milla Rumi - Lilith (Youtube | Spotify) Lilith is a nasty, dark, sexy song, the instrumental, vocals, lyrics, all follow suit. '' I come like a God inside of you, you want more, you get more baby, I come like a God '' Milla sings in the chorus, need I say more? If I ever wanted to summon Satan through sex rituals, this would be the song to do it with. This song just makes me feel so dark, so powerful, so nasty and sexual, and songs that can make me feel that way are a 666/10 in my book. I think the kind of dark but sexy songs full of blasphemy have gone missing from the current landscape of music, which is a shame, but Milla Rumi delivers just what I needed. 5. CLYPSO - Storm (Youtube | Spotify) I wasn't expecting CLYPSO to go off this much. I was mostly just a casual listener of CLYPSO, some songs are nice, but Storm is kind of the direction I'm hoping she goes for in her next full length project. The song has kind of a PC music feel, like PS1 era music actually. It's an extremely fun, dancey, summertime bop, and I can kind of hear Elliphant and Santigold vibes in it. The chorus is pop pErFeCtIoN and the bridge sounds super nostalgic for some reason, it definitely resembles that PS1 era of music like I've mentioned before, which is immensely nostalgic for me. Kind of like Spyro music, maybe? Anyway, huge banger, deserves more recognition, listen to it now now NOW. 4. Clare Maguire - Tokyo With You (Youtube | Spotify) Tokyo With You such a simple acoustic song, but for some reason I love it so much. It's the best acoustic song I've heard in a long time. Clare's deep voice is sultry and beautiful, and the chorus is stunning. The lyrical content is very strong too. The song feels very appropriate for every single season. I wouldn't mind if Clare went and released a whole ass acoustic album, she could pull it off amazingly. Dream Big from one of her older EPs, which is also an acoustic type of song, was also really good, but Tokyo With You is even better. In a EP full of very strong songs, it's funny how the sole acoustic song is the one that beats 'em all. Sometimes less is more, and Clare does amazingly with less. 3. FLETCHER & Kito - Bitter (Youtube | Spotify) Such a shame this didn't end up being one of the biggest songs of 2020 globally. It has all the ingredients. The lyrics, the hip-hop influenced pop beat, the massive chorus, the relateability.. but regardless, it's easily one of my favorite songs of the year. There's nothing I would change about the song. The final chorus is absolute ear candy, the song has definite replay value and I never, ever, ever skip it when it comes on shuffle. I'm starting to lose new ways I can describe a song and how perfect it is but bruh, just listen to it. It's an excellent pop song and should've blown up in 2020. That's it. 2. Milla Rumi - Vortex (Youtube | Spotify) Do you hate wub-wub dubstep drops? Then this is not for you. But I happen to still love dubstep when it's done in moderation. And this song includes the genre PERFECTLY. What a rush of a song. If Lilith was nasty, this is even more so! '' Look me in the eyes, look me in the eyes when you give me head '' '' and then we'll see, how much time it takes, until you have to breath '' like damn, okay, these lyrics are wild, and I love them. This song really blew me away when I first heard it, and I still am at complete awe. Love love love it, other girlies should take notes. 3. M - Punainen Ovi (Spotify | Apple Music) Punainen ovi is M's third studio album, and it manages to do exactly what M is best at doing: eclectic, atmospheric electronic, sometimes experimental pop music with lyrics that are often weird and abstract, which adds to the already hectic sound of the album. M doesn't change much of their formula in this third album, Punainen ovi has everything one would want and expect from an M album, which is why it's obviously great, but there's a piece of me that wants M to transcend into something a bit more different next time. If this is the final part of the trilogy of albums M, then it's a good way the end the journey. There are songs that go off from first listen, and others need a bit more time to chew true, and that's no different from the rest of M's discography. Still, a very good album and an excellent addition to M's discography, despite not being as excellent as the second one. If you're interested in M, I would definitely suggest listening to Näytän missä asun for first time listeners. 2. Lady Gaga - Chromatica (Spotify | Apple Music) An album that seems to be on everyone's '' biggest disappointments of the year '' list. And I do not agree at all. Before Chromatica's release, I was so sure that Lady Gaga can't pull of pop music anymore, and she doesn't need pop music, she should just switch to soul and stadium rock. But then came Chromatica and I was just like yeah no, I don't want dead aunt music, I don't want more ASIB, Gaga better keep on releasing pop music forever. Just like that I switched. While the album isn't perfect at all, rarely albums by pop stars are, there's always something that could be added or removed, Chromatica remains the best mainstream pop artist album of 2020. The mix of different types of 80s and 90s inspired house music combined with Gaga's powerful vocals and the nerve to do something different than what's popular on radio, that's the recipe for my adoration. People say the album is dated, bad, loud, not subversive enough, and I just don't see it or hear it. I think it's an excellent addition to Gaga's discography, and it's resparked my love for dance music Gaga. This is going to be the Gaga album that'll be stuck in my MP3 player for forever while the rest of her discography remain dusty in my computer's music folders. What's that? You're asking me if Chromatica is my favorite Gaga album? Why yes, yes it is! And I think if people stopped expecting the absolute most from Gaga and got rid of their '' Gaga is white gay music and I am above that '' mentality, they'd enjoy it more.

23. Teischa - Doubt (Youtube | Spotify) Very trendy, modern white girl R&B-inspired pop, but it hits the spot for me. The chorus is lovely, and I think the kind of mundane atmosphere of the music video helps creating a certain type of atmosphere and tone for the song that makes it more enjoyable. It's a very calming, soothing song without skipping out on being very groovy and danceable. Teischa's EP would probably be in the top 10 best albums of the year if it DIDN'T HAVE USELESS INTROS, ****. But nevertheless, such a great song. Love it. 22. Alaina Castillo - ¡párate! (Youtube | Spotify) The chorus in this goes off hard. How can you not love it? It's infectious and makes you want to headbang and spass out. That's my idea of dancing to this song anyway. The best thing is is that the chorus totally comes out of nowhere and you don't expect it at all. This is another one of those songs where the verses are just fine, but the chorus is so big that it elevates the song to another stratosphere. Really hard to skip this track, and for once I think the short length is just enough. 21. CXLOE - 12 Steps (Youtube | Spotify) That instrumental really hits you hard in the chorus. The entire song is just a pop gem really. The lyrics aren't the best, but everything, including the lyrics, works in this song wonderfully in unison. Skipping this song is haaaaard. Sadly it's one of the only good CXLOE songs, but thankfully she was able to at least deliver this bop this year. The EP was not really it, but I think she has a lot of potential. 12 Steps is a major bop and I'd be surprised if the pop-loving crowd of ATRL didn't endorse it as well. 20. XYLØ - Chlorine (Youtube | Spotify) XYLØ been throwing EPs at us, trying to see if something sticks. The EPs are often just fine, nothing special, but there is almost always one song that really sticks out. From the pretty sad EP, it was Blue Light, from the yes & no EP, it was the title track yes & no, from the The Ganglands Of My Heart EP, it was Neon Crucifix and from their newest EP, OUTSIDERS CLUB, the best song is Chlorine, and boy does it go off. The vocal delivery is great, I especially love the wanna dive in the POOL part, and the beat is amazing amazing AMAZING. XYLØ needs to get a grip and release a full length album full of Chlorine's, thank you very much. 19. F - Mä en pysy aina itteni kyydis II (feat. Mariska) (Youtube | Spotify) The best part about the song is the beat, lyrics and Mariska. F's verses kind of suck and her '' rapping '' is average at best, thankfully Mariska, the best female rapper in Finland, manages to completely outshine her in every single way, as she should. Should've had her singing along the chorus as well, because Mariska is a multitalented genius. Should've just given this song solely to Mariska. Still, the song goes off and I love it, despite F kinda being meh on the verses. At least she does the chorus fine and the beat and lyrics help elevate this to such an amazing song. The first version of the song is trash compared to this lmao. 18. Sad Money & Kaskade - Come Away (feat. Sabrina Claudio) (Youtube | Spotify) If you were wondering what Billie Eilish would sound like in a Deep House track, well this is it. The Billie kind of vocals sound amazing here though, Sabrina Claudio really pulled it off. Maybe it's the lower register where she sings in, it's a great mix with the deep house beat. There's nothing I don't love about this song. Huge banger, major vibes. I have nothing else to say. Listen to it now. 17. Sini Sabotage - Maria Magdalena (Youtube | Spotify) I wasn't expecting Sini to go off this hard. She hasn't delivered ANY good material since the song that made her popular in the first place, and even that song is more of a meme song than anything else, I doubt people were listening to it like, for real, because they genuinely enjoy it. That's harsh to say, but that's how I've always felt lol. Easily the best rap/hip-hop song released in Finland this year, the verse are good, the chorus is major and the lyrics and wordplay are great. Sadly she isn't getting the praise and views she deserves from this track, though can't blame people, the songs she decided to release from her newest album that included Maria Magdalena are all trash, and the album in general outside of Maria Magdalena are pretty meh. Thankfully she managed to convince me that yeah, she can bring it when she wants to. Maria Magdalena is a testament to that. 16. Nina Chuba - Jungle (Youtube | Spotify) The best part of this song are easily the lyrics. One of the only songs this year that I was drawn to purely because of the lyrics. Am I brave enough to say these are probably the best pop lyrics of 2020? I don't know if I want to make that announcement but they are definitely top tier, without a doubt. The song otherwise is great, no doubt about that, but the lyrics just hit you with how relevant they are to today's society. I'm unsure whether the lyrics are a reference to the music industry or society in general, but it works either way. Nina Chuba spilled the piping hot tea regardless. 15. Ninajirachi & Kota Banks - Vice Versa (Youtube | Spotify) Ninajirachi and Kota Banks really are a dream duo, huh? First Opus, now Vice Versa.. they definitely need to work together more often. This song in particular is such a happy, positive sounding pop song with lyrics that don't reflect the sound at all, which makes the song that much more fascinating and interesting. While the rest of their EP remained a bit of a miss for me, this song is definitely a big, big hit in my books. The whole song is just very unique, definitely not the kind of pop that is played in radio, but it could be. Love it. 14. OZworld - Vivide (feat. Satomi Shigemori) (Youtube | Spotify) We've announced the best Finnish rap/hip-hop song of the year, and this would be the best Japanese rap/hip-hop song of the year. Surprised this hasn't gone viral in Tiktok or anything yet. It's so gooooood. It's a very effortlessly cool and fun song, whatever that means and Satomi kind of kills it with her quirkiness and wackiness. Always enjoy hip-hop music that is more unexpected than not, and Vivide kind of is just that. The music video is very fitting as well. OZworld is a beautiful man and I really like his rapping voice, it's kinda cute. 13. Clare Maguire - Cold Water (Youtube | Spotify) This whole EP is just absolutely fantastic. Cold Water's chorus, especially the last chorus, is delicious, so modern, so chic and stunning. Kind of mad the song is only 2:30, it's too short! But boy is it worth every second. It's really hard to describe the song, it's kind of minimalistic and laidback, but the addition of a chorus chanting '' cold cold water '' is such delicious contrast to the otherwise very minimalistic instrumental. The song is stunning, let's leave it at that. 12. Becky And The Birds - Wondering (Youtube | Spotify) Speaking of stunning, here's Wondering by Becky And The Birds! There are definitely resemblances to Ariana's voice, which is great, but I definitely enjoy Becky's more smooth old school hip-hop/r&b beats as opposed to Ariana's more modern take on r&b. Becky is doing the things I've wanted Ariana to do, honestly. This song is so good, so smooth and elegant, I absolutely adore it. So excited for Becky's future, this is the kind of music I've been looking for for a long time, and now I have an artist in my library that fills the niche I've been looking for the be filled. This song is heaven. 11. Tierra Whack - Peppers and Onions (Youtube | Spotify) We've had plenty of hip-hop and rap from #20 onwards, and I will now declare Peppers and Onions the BEST rap song of 2020, period. Tierra Whack is basically a genius, isn't she? She never lets me down and to me, she is the greatest female rapper currently. She is unique, from her aesthetic to her sound. She always exceeds your expectations in every way possible. Dora was a great track as well, but Peppers and Onions is a whole ass banger. It's so fun, it's so wacky, it's so fresh. When is this girl going to blow up finally? Hopefully a full length album is coming soon, because I'm getting real impatient waiting for the AOTY of 2021. 4. Clare Maguire - Isolation EP 2020 (Spotify | Apple Music) Now you might be thinking, how does an EP with 3 freaking songs make it this far into your top 10 albums of 2020 list? Easy, it's because every song on the EP is like 10/10. Am I kind of bothered it's only three tracks, sure, but each track is amazing. I'm surprised myself that Clare freaking Maguire, whose debut album was great but then released several projects that were miss for me, came back in 2020 which such a strong showcase of TALENT, with three songs that easily destroy most other pop releases this year. I am beyond thrilled for whatever is to come next for Clare, I hope she continues to surprise with this kind of a serve in 2021.

Agree. I think Uterus was pretty nice, but Lick Me is obviously the best one, reminds me of her debut album sound a bit. We will not talk of the second droplet though nn. Final Fantasy remains superior but it's basically neck and neck.

No, I am definitely disrespecting I think the album was pretty boring, with Plain and Snail being the only highlights for me. And BENEE's singing reminds me of this Liz Gillies video a bit it is better than Snail but I like Snail as well! And yeah, it's the best song on the album that's otherwise a miss for me.

I was surprised how well Lily worked on the track, she really made it hers. Actually it's a very Lily Allenish song to begin with in terms of lyrics. Flo's verse worked really well as well. BENEE kinda got overshadowed lol.

33. Naaz - Mute Love (Youtube | Spotify) The vocals here are really wonderful. Naaz is another hit-or-miss artist for me, Mute Love is thankfully a big hit. A very good song from start to finish. Aside from the versatile vocal abilities, I also really love the lyrics. '' I could be paralyzed and still feel every day, You touch me in places only knives could embrace '' um yes, that's beautiful. Hopefully her next album will be more consistently good, instead of having a great song here and there. 32. Pihlaja - Kirjoitettu tähtiin (Youtube | Spotify) One of the best songs from Pihlaja's debut album. The chorus is really pretty and for the most part, it's a really clean, wonderful pop song. There's nothing much to say about it otherwise, I'm just always very happy to hear some good, modern pop music that sounds like it could work globally, coming from our little country of Finland. Pihlaja is definitely on the forefront of that kind of pop music. 31. SINI YASEMIN - PS. Mul on toinen (Youtube | Spotify) I really wasn't expecting something so sleek, modern and well-produced by SINI, because her music is generally more hectic and messy, in a good way and sometimes in a bad way as well. So this is an interesting direction, and I'm sad the albums direction wasn't as sleek as this song, sonically. I think a more clean production really lets SINIs nice voice shine a lot more. She is using her voice more like an instrument in this song, which I enjoy. The lyrics are also really good, they are very cheeky. ' 30. Terri - Aperol Spritz (Youtube | Spotify) I had no previous history with Terri, so this song kind of blew me away. It's just a very nice, kind of generic pop song but for some reason it really works for me. I think every piece just fits like a puzzle and I want nothing more. I rarely skip this song because it just makes me smile and dance around a bit. The lyrics are kind of cringy but they're also very true. 29. milet - Prover (Youtube | Spotify) I've been watching Milet since her song Runway was released, and I'm just really hype for her career. She doesn't always hit the mark with me but when she does, you are going to have a good, good time. Prover is a major song and a delight to listen to, it's so powerful, this kind of music is like nowhere else to be seen than in Japan. Who does it like Japan? No one. I feel like it's one of the only music markets left that really appreciates big power ballads, and I'm really thankful for that. This song is ballads in their prime. 28. BENEE - Plain (feat. Lily Allen & Flo Milli) (Youtube | Spotify) I don't know who BENEE is, and I don't really want to know her either because Lily Allen and Flo Milli kind of completely destroy her on this song. Should've just been Lily Allen feat. Flo Milli to be honest. The song is still very good, very hip and trendy, very US radio appropriate. Very smooth and groovy. But seriously, am I the only one who thinks Lily sounds AMAZING here? And Flo Millis rap verse is so appropriate. Ugh. If this was just Lily and Flo, would've probably went much further in the list. I can only hope Lily releases this type of music next. It sounds like I really dislike BENEE or something, no, I think she sounds fine and her verses are fine, but Lily and Flo just destroy her in her own song, and that's a fact. Still a wonderful song regardless of my bitching! 27. Laura Moisio - Huumaavaa (Youtube | Spotify) Summer may have passed but if this song doesn't get you in a breezy summer mood, then there's something wrong with you. It hasn't been long since I gave Laura Moisio a fair chance and listened through her discography, and I definitely found tons of nice songs. During summer, she released Huumaavaa, and I'm glad it's better than everything on her latest album she also released in 2020 that wasn't my cup of tea. This acoustic wonderfulness combined with Laura's sweet vocals is just, perfection. Taylor Swift who? And this time I'm not joking. Not one bit. This is like a summer stable for me now, and I hope her next project is going to follow on this song's footsteps. 26. Remi Wolf - Photo ID (Youtube | Spotify) One of the best songs on Remi's newest EP. So groovy and funky and in the sea of 80s inspired pop music, it really stands out. I especially love the '' ooh baby turn off the light '' part, sad it happens only one time in the song. I was debating whether I'd pick Hello Hello Hello or Photo ID from the EP for this list, but I went with Photo ID because it's much more groovy and funky, which I like. Remi Wolf's sound, aesthetic and image are all so on point, relatable but unqiue, and I'm so excited for her future! 25. Jules - Rain (Youtube | Spotify) This song really gives me early 2000s pop music vibes, like Corinne Bailey Rae or something. It's the kind of positivity and joy I'm really missing from pop music these days. Everything is so moody and depressing or sexy and cocky these days, there's barely any room for just fun and happiness. Jules' vocals are really nice, kind of reminds me of Duffy. The song is very simple from the lyrics to the instrumentals, so Jules vocals are doing a lot of work to bring it all together, and it works extremely well. Another song I almost never skip. It's so good. 24. Bea Miller & Aminé - FEEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT (Youtube | Spotify) There are some pop girlies who have been trying to imitate Billie's type of singing, and Bea Miller... well, it's getting pretty similar. But thankfully it's not distracting and it kind of works for the song. I also usually really dislike male rap features but there's something about Aminé that really, really works. I actually really enjoy ithe song more because of his rapping. I like his and Bea's vocals together in the chorus, it really adds an extra layer to it that was probably necessary. The song is so good, the chorus is mindblowingly catchy. Definitely a huge hit in the making, but probably not. It deserves to be a hit though.
