I think the reason it didn’t do that well was moreso because of the dated sound than the message

Streaming is still growing, the thing is Pop is coming back around. Just like how teen pop blew up in 1999 and electropop In 2009, a new wave of pop is taking over in 2019

It’s being overshadowed by SYL and now LYTLM. Once again Taylor just has the worst timing

Panini’s been lowkey enough to keep rising on radio months after its first wave of success on streaming. As crazy as it seems I think it could still have yet to peak

Post has a unique voice no one’s ever heard before. Adam’s voice is the most generic male pop voice there is. Circles has a mysterious & dark rock vibe to it. If M5 made it they would’ve used bland pop sound fonts. It’s not a fair comparison.

Maroon 5 is so lame. They had passion until V. Since then they just throw together some generic pop songs every few years and then Payola their way to the top because their songs are always as radio friendly as possible.

With the way Lizzo bringing back old songs I bet she could make Juice a hit after GAH

I noticed that too. Ever since the 90s music cycles between urban and pop. Rhythmic and melodic. The difference this time is even pop has become very rhythmic. Hip hop’s influenced almost every popular genre at this point.

There’s a lot of reasons Lizzo’s becoming huge. She’s sassy but not overbearing, body positive but not too preachy like Meghan was, radio friendly with a bit of edge, cross-genre appeal, etc. She’s a recipe for success
