This Is My Now August 6, 2007: One Step at a Time Jordin releases the lead single in early August, a feel good inspirational song. She goes on a radio tour across the country to promote the song. The following week, she performs on Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The song debuts at #76 and appears to be off to a good start. A few weeks later, on September 9, 2007, with the song still climbing the charts, Jordin performs the song on the Pre-show of the Video Music Awards. While the song doesn’t get a huge boost, it helps the song increase from #36 to #27 that week. Thanks to continued radio support and healthy digital sales, the song peaks at #5 on Radio Songs and #8 Hot 100 at the end of October. The song has sold 1.75 million copies in the US and 2.5 million worldwide. November 5, 2007: No Air f/ Chris Brown No Air is released next, and is an instant success thanks in part to the Chris Brown feature. It debuts at #28, selling 123,000 copies in its first week. On November 18, 2007, Jordin and Chris Brown perform No Air on the American Music Awards and receive a standing ovation. Their performance, along with the album release week, causes the song to have another week of great digital sales and strong radio gains, and pushes the song into the top 10 at #5. The song continues to gain on radio, and hits #2 on the Hot 100 at the beginning of the new year, blocked by T-Pain's Low. The song is also a worldwide hit, peaking in the top 10 in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The song goes on to sell 4 million copies in the US and 5.5 million worldwide, and becomes a signature hit for Jordin. March 3, 2008: Next to You Hoping to capitalize off the success of No Air, Jordin’s label decides to release another slower mid-tempo as the follow-up single. The song is sent to Pop, AC, and HAC radio, and receives great radio updates throughout its run. Jordin performs the song on the Season 7 finale of American Idol on May 21, 2008. Jordin also travels to the UK to perform the song on Live Lounge. She performs the song as part of her setlist as the opening act of the European leg of Alicia Keys’ As I Am Tour. While the song isn’t the smash hit that her label expected, it still manages to peak at #13 on the Hot 100 at the end of May, mainly due to a #6, #4, and #5 peak on the aforementioned radio formats, respectively. In the UK, it peaks at #24. To date, the song has sold 1 million copies in the US and 1.75 million worldwide. June 16, 2008: Tattoo Tattoo is released as the final song from the album. It receives little promotion aside from performances on tour. Like the three previous singles, radio is a big supporter and helps the song to peak at #34 on the Hot 100. Worldwide the song is slightly more successful, peaking in the top 20 in the UK and Ireland. It goes on to sell 600,000 copies in the US and 1.1 million worldwide. To promote the album, Jordin goes on a TV promotion tour during the release week. Following her AMAs performance, Jordin performs No Air Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Tuesday, she performs it once again on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She flies to New York and performs her personal favorite, Worth the Wait, on Live with Regis and Kelly. On Friday, Jordin performs One Step at a Time on Today and the next night, No Air on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The albums debut at #6, selling 165,000 copies. Various performances throughout the era such as No Air on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and constant radio support help sell the album. Jordin is the opening act for the European leg of Alicia Keys’ As I Am Tour, from February to March 2008. In the summer, she embarks on her debut theatre tour, Jordin Sparks Live, across the US and Canada. A European leg follows in the fall. Thanks to continued radio support throughout the era, and great reception from her tour, the album’s lifetime sales stand at 1.8 million copies in the US and 2.7 million worldwide. The album is certified 2x Platinum in the US, Platinum in Canada, and certified Gold in the UK, Austria, Australia, and New Zealand. Single Release Plan - 2/3 - I like this for the most part but I do find One Step At A Time and Tattoo to be kind of confusing in the sequence. I definitely think Tattoo would peak higher than #34 for example, as it already did in reality. No Air was a smart choice to use during the album’s release period tbh. I was a bit shocked Tattoo was relegated to fourth single as it’s definitely one of the stronger tracks on there. One Step At A Time was the least successful single that era so I have no idea why you would make that her debut. Definitely could’ve done more with No Air as that was the only mega-hit from the era. The album sales plan seemed realistic enough. Then on February 15 she promoted the album on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon H&M: Carrie Underwood was featured in a H&M song, with her song Good Girl playing in the background, the commercial played a lot on Television, and gave both the song and album a big boost TOUR: The Blown Away Tour was a big succes, and started on September 23. 2012 and ended on August 4 2013, it had 102 dates mostly in the US and Canada, and the tour was keeping the sales up. FINAL: The album had 4 single, 2 that was top 10 all 4 went top 40. It also had a very successful tour, and one of the songs were featured in the album. It was also promoted a lot. The album was also very critical acclaimed. First week sales was a success, with 325k in US, and 380k WW Blown Away would end up at around 2.1 in the US, and 2.5 WW, where most of the remaining 400k that’s not from the US, will comes from Canada where Carrie has established a big following, she also has a loyal fan base in Australia and UK ————————————————— MY OPINION: ★★★☆☆ I actually really liked the album more than i thought i would, i have never listened to a Carrie Underwood album, so i didn’t really know much about what to expect, but it was really good. My top 3 was Blown Away, Good In Goodbye, and Good Girl AKA the first 3 singles, I also really liked Forever Changed. But country really isn’t my thing, so the tracks where she went full on country wasn’t my faves. But a solid album overall Element Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 3/3 Single Release Plan - 2.5/3 - I LOVE the lead single promotion plan! A great song with a really exciting release here - doing Beyonce TWO YEARS EARLY? Carrieconic. GIG seemed a little bit overdone for what it is. Good Girl in the summer makes great sense and has good promo. See You Again is a great wrap up… because she’ll see you again next era! ;) Album Sale Plan - 1.5/2 - Pretty realistic numbers, but the promo could have used a little more explanation, justification, and polish than just a quick list. It felt a bit rushed. Total - 9/10 - CARRIECONIC!!!!!!!! Also love the addition of the opinion section. rl231 Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 3 Single Release Plan - 2.5 - I would’ve put Two Black Cadillacs as a single like it was originally, over Good in Goodbyes, but I do like your plan, except for leaving See You Again in the lurch like that (AKA ONE OF HER BEST SONGS). Album Sale Plan - 1.5 - I just wanted more depth from the description because it was a ton of hyperbole. Total - 9 T-Swizz Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 2.5/3 Single Release Plan - 3/3 Album Sale Plan - 1.5/2 Total - 9/10 Critique: The single strategy was creative but also realistic. Surprise releasing her debut single at the CMA’s had me cackling but it’s definitely something I could imagine Mrs. Underwood doing! Good In Goodbye seems like perfect Grammy-bait so releasing it right before was a brilliant move. Reserving Good Girl for the Spring/Summer, featuring it on an H&M commercial, AND paying See You Again dust?? You already sound smarter than 90% of Carrie’s team. Great release strategy and most of it seemed very realistic. Fruity - The Original High - Adam Lambert Spoiler On 11/25/2017 at 0:18 PM, Fruity said: The Original High by Adam Lambert Reorganised by Fruity Revised Tracklist 1. The Original High 2. Rumors (ft. Tove Lo)3. Things I Didn’t Say 4. After Hours 5. Ghost Town 6. The Light 7. Heavy Fire8. Lucy (ft. Brian May) 9. Evil in the Night 10. Underground 11. Another Lonely Night We don't like to beat around the bush, so the album opens with the title track, an ear worm that immediately plunges into the recurrent themes of drugs, sex, rock and roll which Adam explores throughout the album. The first third of the album includes more pop ear worms, accessible to the new listeners, where thematically Adam is fantasising about all his vices. Next, he attacks the experimental, darker, dance vibes in the middle of the album which begin on Ghost Town, through to Heavy Fire, which represent the full on party section. The final 4 tracks represent the 'comedown', which slows down the pace, and includes Adam's more serious, reflective side - which all explore the negative sides of a fast paced, drug and sex fuelled lifestyle. Cut tracks: There I Said It - sounds like Underground part 2 Shame (bonus track) - because it sounds quite similar to some other tracks, and quite generic. These Boys (bonus track) - easily the weakest song on the album, quite cheesy, very deluxey. Single-Release Plan Single 1 – Rumours (ft. Tove Lo) Single 2 – Things I Didn’t Say Single 3 – Ghost Town Single 4 – The Light [Duke Dumont remix] 1. Rumours (ft. Tove Lo) Tove Lo in 2015 was FULL of hype on the alternative pop scene. Fresh off the release of her debut studio album Queen Of The Clouds in late 2014, with a moderate WW hit in 'Talking Body' on the cards, the combination of Tove/Adam makes for a sultry and sonically relevant pop gem in 'Rumours'. Everything about this song is on trend. It has an undeniable dark pop vibe. My master plan for this song is for Adam+Tove to land a spot on the much coveted Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack, which already spawned major hits by acclaimed/legendary artists The Weeknd (with Earned It) and Ellie Goulding (Love Me Like You Do). The song fits perfectly with the vibe of the film - a dark, sexy duet between a man and a woman about secrets. This will bring Adam's comeback song majorly into the spotlight, and since the film was released on Valentines Day 2015, it is perfectly timed for his lead single to become an organic, consistent hit. The film was a major commercial success; the entire soundtrack received worldwide attention. This would help the song to a #4 peak on the Hot 100, lasting 8 weeks in the top 10. 2. Things I Didn't Say My plan for Adam this era is for him to stay true to his dark/mysterious/grungy edge on the album, but as far as the singles go, I am going to need him to appeal to the MASS MARKET at first. Adam is therefore going to follow the Joe Jonas route (who was all over radio in 2015) and capitalise on his successful lead by releasing a catchy, inoffensive, risk-free pop radio ear worm. Nobody is expecting TIDS to smash WFL style, but it is an undeniable song that is bound to score highly on radio call outs. I'm going to need him to go on a nationwide US radio tour, doing interviews, showcasing his personality and earning spins the hard way. Adam would use his American Idol connections to secure a spot on the AI final in May, propelling the song into the top 15, allowing pop to truly latch onto the song. This will help TIDS to become an organic, slow growing hit in the style of all the other generic pop boys, earning a #2 peak on pop radio and #6 on the Hot 100. This will reintroduce Adam to pop listeners, becoming somewhat restablished as a pop radio staple with 2 consecutive hits! The song will be top 10 album release week. 3. Ghost Town was a song with a lot of potential, and not an awful lead single choice (180 million plays on Spotify proves this). However it was potentially too much, too soon, given that Adam was not an established act on radio. The song alternates between a soft rock vibe in the verses to an extremely housey beat in the chorus, making it quite experimental and not exactly a safe choice. However, it absolutely had potential, and we saw this by the fact it managed to peak at #2 in Australia, following a performance on The Voice Australia. The Australian, British and American markets are closely linked, often with UK and Australia catching onto hits before America, which proves that Ghost Town could've been big with the right promotion. What Adam needs is exposure, which is exactly what I'm going to give him in the autumn, with a spot on the BBC1 Radio Teen Awards in the UK, and The Voice USA. This would help the song to respectable top 10 peaks in all the anglophone markets. 4. Finally Adam will release a Duke Dumont remix of his already extremely dancey 'The Light' which will not see huge commercial success but will establish his name in clubs and on the gay scene as it becomes a staple with ravers. The UK as well as most of Europe eats up this sound, and it goes top 20 across Europe, as well as #1 on the US Dance Club chart (dethroning Rihanna). Album-Sale Plan Adam's album campaign with The Original High is going to be focused on his newfound, cleaner image. Everyone knows Adam has talent but he has never ticked the appropriate image boxes, unfortunately. It's okay for artists to be gay so long as they aren't TOO gay and shove it in straight people's faces, that's not okay! So of course we gotta reign in all that gothic femme mess and become a daddy. He is going to trim down, do some topless photoshoots, and cater to the gay media, fuelling the thirsty gays and even some teenage girls who will finally support him this era now that his image is less embarrassing and more conventional in their opinion (eye roll). His lead single video with Tove Lo will be a risque and sexy but also intelligent reverse play on gender roles which will inspire many think pieces for intelligent people to read but also he will be seen as a low key emerging heartthrob by those who just want some eye candy (97% of the population). This, with the support of his amazing vocals performing his second single on talent shows worldwide, and also plenty of Spotify payola, will trigger interest in Adam again, helping him open to healthy first week sales of 130k pure/150k SPS in the US, 200K WW. The album will continue to sell healthily throughout the year with the help of his singles and sell 1 million WW when all is said and done. An acclaimed performance of 'Lucy' at the AMAs with Brian May making a guest appearance will be the cherry on top of a successful era, with many fans of rock checking out his album. Element Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 3/3 Single Release Plan - 2.5/3 - Good choices, especially w releasing Rumors as the lead. I felt like your ideas, while really solid, would not have led to the results you stated. Things I Didn’t Say is catchy, but it doesn’t strike me as THAT big of a hit. I did like your inclusion of the fourth single as kind of a dessert to the era. Album Sale Plan - 1.5/2 - Not bad at all! I like the music video concept. It would have been great to get some more solid album promotion through interviews/appearances, instead of just placing those in the singles section. Total - 9/10 - A p strong era! rl231 Artist/Title - 0.5 Name - 0.5 Cover Art - 1 Tracklist - 3 Single Release Plan - 2 - I feel like a lot of the things you said are definitely doable, but their effect isn’t as realistic. An example is that when TIDS would’ve been released, American Idol did not have the same power to propel songs to the stratosphere like it used to. Album Sale Plan - 1.5 - Pretty good, but as Swizz said, there needed to be more on the promotion aspect. Total - 8.5 T-Swizz Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 3/3 Single Release Plan - 2/3 Album Sale Plan - 1.5/2 Total - 8.5/10 Critique: You focused a bit too much on trying to make the singles seem “organic” and didn’t delve into how you would market them as much as I’d like. A performance here and there isn’t going to cut it! However, your tracklist and single choices were great. Again, with the album sales plan, I wish you expanded a bit more on the promotion aspect but other than it was decent. Some things could have been better explained but it was solid. rl231 Artist/Title - 0.5 Name - 0.5 Cover Art - 1 Tracklist - 2.5 Single Release Plan - 2 - Not bad at all, but you just talked about one single and then gave two small explanations for the second and third ones lol. YOUR. RESEARCH. We won’t be providing examples like this time, so you’ll need to do your due diligence and look it up if you're confused...or just ask us. This is by far one of the best submissions you’ve had all season. Although the sales and reception can get a bit over-exaggerated at times, your promotion was on point. Wish you explained your promotion plan for second and third single in a bit more detail but I’ll take what I can get. Good luck booking all those stages you speak of. talent - Haley Reinhart - Listen Up! Spoiler On 11/26/2017 at 10:44 PM, talent said: Haley Reinhart - We Like To Party by talent 1. Oh My! (Ft. EL VIERNES TE OLVIDO YO THIS [ORIGINAL] ALBUM IS FILLED WITH TONS OF FILLERS, SO THE GOAL WAS TO GET RID OF AS MANY OF THEM POSSIBLE. IN DOING SO, WE CAN NOW SEE SOME VARIETY WITHIN THE TRACKS THOUGH THEY'RE MOSTLY IN THE VEIN OF POP-ROCK. BETWEEN FAST-PACED, MIDTEMPOS + A STANDOUT BALLAD TO CLOSE THINGS OUT, THIS IS REALLY THE BEST THAT COULD'VE BEEN SCULPTED FROM THE ORIGINAL. PLUS, WE LOVE A SPANISH VERSION OF A LEAD SINGLE TO MILK SALES, DON'T WE?! - THIS WOULD ESPECIALLY WORK IN TODAY'S CLIMATE. SINGLE #1 Reveal hidden contents Release Date: December 28th, 2009 I think we can all agree that "Friday I'll Be Over U" was the correct choice to be Allison's debut single. Allison would release her new single right when the year comes to a close. Her team would use her connections with Ryan Seacrest, as well as executive producers, so she could premiere the song on a smaller stage at Dick Clarke's Rockin' New Year's Eve, which attracts tens of millions viewers in the nation. Given that new songs don't tend to debut high during the Holiday Season, the song would have a rather lower debut on the charts (around the 80s), but the Dick Clarke performance would be enough to get it to chart. The great thing about releasing the song towards the end of the year is that it would be a great choice to service it out to Pop radio formally the following week, given that January would be starting. Allison would then make an appropriate run of radio promotion starting then, allowing the song to climb up organically. She would also perform at other shows such as Good Morning America and The View - however radio would be the primary focus. The music video would be released on the first week of February. The song would definitely take the approach of a sleeper-hit, hopefully peaking mid-March and in the Top20 of the Billboard Hot100. SINGLE #2 Reveal hidden contents [holiday]Release Date: April 5th, 2010"Holiday" is a good follow-up because it's another uptempo single. Being that Allison is a new artist, she couldn't just switch-up on radio by releasing a midtempo or ballad just yet. It would serve as the album launch single. Given that the song is even shorter and simpler than "Friday I'll Be Over U", Allison's new fans and the general public would be likely to eat it up. Once again, we would get Allison on the trail to promote this on radio. Only this time, we'd send her off into more markets around the world, such as Canada and the United Kingdom. Allison would be able to perform on shows such as Britain's Got Talent, Canada's Got Talent, Good Morning Birtain, Lorraine and such. Her credibility in the US from the first single would be enough to hold her over with radio only. The video would also be released earlier, on the first week of May, a week before the album release. In May Allison would then return to perform on The TODAY Show, and make a return to American Idol. The song isn't as anthemic as "Friday I'll Be Over U", but has enough to be another Top40 hit for Allison on the Billboard Hot100. The single campaign for this song would extend into the Summer as the song would be serviced to radio in other territories. SINGLE #3 Reveal hidden contents Release Date: August 23rd, 2010 This ballad is the obvious choice to close things out. The single would get serviced in late-August, just in time for the Fall to come through. Radio would eat the song up by now considering it's a ballad making gains in the Fall. This would be Allison's most-promoted single of the era in terms of performance, since she'd have a name by now. Performances would include X Factor UK, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, France's Got Talent, Sukkiri, Sunrise - we're getting Allison out all over the world promoting this anthem. A music video would be released mid-October with a very Winter-like concept, ensuring the song's longevity through imagery. In addition to Pop in which the first two singles were serviced out, this song could very well stand a chance on HAC+AC. We would also get her to perform at the American Music Awards by now. The song would probably peak within the Top10 of the Billboard Hot100 and would be able to crack the Top40 of many other markets. It'd be better to end things on a high note, then service another single that would have little potential. (There aren't many "hits" on this album) ALBUM-SALE PLAN Reveal hidden contents The album sale would take a much more global approach compared to other American Idol artists. This is because as opposed to needing Allison to smash straight out of the gate, this era is mainly to have her name get out there - it's supposed to be just the beginning! As discussed, the best way to make Allison have her debut post-American Idol would be on Dick Clarke's Rockin' New Year's Eve. There's simply no bigger platform for performing in the nation (aside from the Super Bowl). In addition to doing the typical promotion-run (as mentioned through all the singles), we would have Allison get into the realm of festivals worldwide. Being that she is a Pop-Rock artist, the festivals are where Allison will build her fan-base. As for the radio side of things, Allison can also perform at radio festivals. It'd be the best of both worlds in terms of festivals - festivals that would gain her new fans into the genre, and festivals that would have her appeal to the general public and build relationships with radio programmers. Also, being that the album would be released in May with "Holiday" powering it, it'd likely have a lower debut with Allison selling more in the longrun (ex: Ellie Goulding, SZA, Khalid) The goal with her is definitely longevity. Specifically on the album release week we'd have her cover Billboard Magazine as well as some other music-related magazines (Dazed, Paper, etc.) and as for worldwide, we'd promote the album through the internet. Advertisements on sites like YouTube, Facebook, MSN, AOL, Yahoo could be very effective during this time period. Performances would include as we stated, the American Idol performance, a TODAY Show performance and we'll through in Saturday Night Live. The album would already have some hype on a global scale due to performances that would take place from previous dates. In the end though, "Scars" will make sure the album gets milked throughout the Holiday Season, with some cute discounts. When all is said and done, the album could probably sell 550k-650k in the US, with it selling about 850k-1.05m worldwide. Not bad for an American Idol alumni. Element Artist/Title - 0.5/0.5 Name - 0.5/0.5 Cover Art - 1/1 Tracklist - 3/3 Single Release Plan - 3/3 Album Sale Plan - 2/2 Total - 10 - Well-written, reasonable, and creative...you basically hit all the marks! The global promotion for the second single was a nice touch on what was an otherwise already jampacked schedule. Closing out the era with a ballad was the perfect choice and if longevity is what you’re seeking with the album, a ballad would be a great way to achieve that. Your performance commentary was pertinent to this genre of music so placing an emphasis on performing at festivals is definitely the right move. Wish you expanded a bit more on sales but this was a great entry nonetheless. Aciid - Daughtry - Baptized Spoiler On 11/26/2017 at 5:13 PM, Aciid said: BAPTIZED daughtry B Y : A C I I D - 1.
