Are ppl starting to get tired of streaming songs or are ppl just more busy these days? Or was 2024 just a special year for music?

They're too busy streaming Die With A Smile, the biggest hit

the fate of ophelia and golden are being streamed just fine

Stans are busy fighting online instead of streaming their fave music

Ophelia is coming in 2 months

Streaming is slowly going into a recession, or Spotify is losing st®eam

iTunes is still absolutely dead without a doubt

Or maybe its the pop gals that are losing steam, or is it Pop in general

It's one of the worst years in music. Truly awful

Songs from 2024 were still on auto-play this year

They ran out of streams for 2025, they'll refill in 2026

I fear the streams are being held hostage

But I think people stream less during turbulent times & political turmoil

apk shut down had to do with it too

It's apparent something major changed with the Spotify algorithm between 24 and 25. The totals for most streamed songs of the year have huge gaps. However, I think 24 was more of the outlier and 25 was more of a reset.

With that said, The Smash of Ophelia is behaving like a 2024 song without the 2024 payola

Back To Friends which was released December 27th last year has over 1.2B streams.

2024 streams are heavily inflated. Also doesn't help that the only true smashes of 2025 so far are Ordinary, Golden and Ophelia

Yeah. 2025 just had no big hits

I honestly think Gaga fans are just about as out of touch as the Charli fans were. Gaga's album was good but it made no noise outside of the white gay men as is the same with Brat (except Brat was terrible). Most of the actual hits dropped at the end of the year but I am surprised Manchild isn't even close yet.

I also think this is a factor.

Spotify changed the algorithm. The entire top 50 basically decreased in half and they've been pushing older songs. I guess they were worried about the increase in songs hitting 1 billion

Spotify 2025 is not as BIG as Spotify 2024 (you can compare top10/top50/top100 and see the BIG difference)

Algorithm/Autoplay still heavily favored established 2024 Smashes
