Gaga was never a critics darling though. She's always polarizing in their eyes, even at her creative peak (The Fame Monster/Born This Way), they never gave her the contemporary universal acclaim that she and the record deserve. Artpop wasn't appreciate by critics until recently, so not making these YE list is not the end-all of critical acclaim, it just means that critics got the art and appreciated them from the get go
