We had hints on the previous album as well (Tucked, for example) ...and then she came back with that atrocious WW single, stuck on the same tired sound and completely annihilated any of my hopes and whatever was left of her starpower. I *think* the problem is that she has a lot of 20-something/30-something gays on her team that are obsessed with "serving" or whatever and she ran with that. Otherwise she would be absolutely do amazing with a pop-rock album. 3 hours ago, Kiss It Better said: unapologetic got 4.5 too that means it's gonna win a grammy Back when they gave every popular singer an automatic panning Unapologetic is great. 2 1
ChooseyLover Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Nah but they should change the score It doesn't go well with the writing piece at all. It reads like a 2 (at best) or a 0 (at worst).

Imagine being 20 yrs into your career and having to rely on a bunch of yes men to make your own career choices...sounds like a total lack of artistic integrity.

Critics are taking DAYS to review a 30-minute album and coming up with some bullshit critiques Pitchfork's score is the average of multiple critics, and only one of them writes a review on their opinion of it. 1
ImsoLOUD Posted September 24 Posted September 24 3 hours ago, JoeAg said: okay they better f*cking correct that EGREGIOUS Unapologetic score if they're for real about giving this the same score. that review is genuinely still one of the most disgusting and sexist things on that site to this date and I know the dingbat who reviewed it regrets it or whatever but it still deserves a rescore pronto. unbelievable. Tea! That score was based on Rihanna's personal life at the time much more than the album itself. 1
burninredhot Posted September 24 Posted September 24 The writer probably forgot that the rating is out of 10 and not 100 2

The minute I heard that "woman's world" snippet I knew it was over and entered delusional stan goggle mode. She got me back with the subsequent singles tho, I know everyone else hates them but I thought they were fun. 1
BlahBlahBlah Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Quote But Katy Perry is weird like Olive Garden is exotic: not really at all, and everything is suffocated in cheese. This is just straight up bullying lmao
MatiRod Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I think they're wrong about Katy not ever being geniunely weird. Just look at the entire Witness era, from the body horror to Witness World Wide. It was the most bizarre, divisive campaign of the decade maybe alongside Artpop.

While I don't exactly like Lifetimes, basically because it sounds extremely dated and brings anything new to the table not just on the musical 2024 cosmo, but also in her discography (it could fit liteally in any previous album sans OOTB), it still was a better choice for lead then WW. But if she really wanted to stick with feminism empowerment at all cost, IH,HM was really something lyrically more faithful to Katy style, while still musically doing something slightly original atleast in her own discography. WW should've stay in the 2011 rejection's folder it came from
