k4rmabutterfly Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Which of these retired queens has the biggest musical career? Discuss
ZacXCX Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Can't wait for that one Xtina fan to come here and say that Britney hasn't had a hit since 1999. OT: Both very different? It's kinda hard to say. Britney has had more big pop culture moments and staples, but Rihanna was more consistent with her hits. That being said, Rih has been pissing me off ever since she started releasing panties and movie soundtrack lullabies so I'm voting for Britney. The Avon Lady will be back in my good graces when she releases an album in 2047. 2 2
cyberraga Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Britney had a bigger peak, Rihanna lasted longer and her success was more consistent. 3 6

deardesperado Posted September 1 Posted September 1 britney's peak was massive and bigger than rihanna's, but rihanna's lasted longer. overall i'd say Rih is more successful, her consistency and catalog of hits is greater than britney's 3 3
burninredhot Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Who are the Britney stans in this thread kidding? Yes BOMT is like one of the biggest hits of all time but how does that beat the insane consistency Rihanna had throughout the years she was active
ChooseyLover Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Only one is recognized as pop royalty so... Her. We all know who. Buth both super iconic girlies. Edited September 1 by ChooseyLover
Trent W Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I think Britney wins this one Rihanna has more hits, but Britney has way bigger albums, impact and influence in music Also in the long run Rihanna is being more associated with business than music
Pikachoo Posted September 1 Posted September 1 musical career? Rihanna. around 2003, Britney transitioned from musical artist to paparazzi celebrity. it was about britney, not the music. whereas Rihanna's music has always been at the centre of her career. it was her music making waves, not her personal life 3 2 1 1
A-V-XYZ Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Rihanna. She had a recent Hot 100 Year End top 10 hit while Britney hasn't had that in about 25 years lmao haha hehe. 1

TipToe Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Rihanna, her catalogue is better, the success is consistent spreading all eras and the music is aging well, her streaming stats don't lie. Britney had a fair amount of cute quick lil singels after the 'comeback' in 2008 but it's evident the core of her relevant material comprehends what she did until Toxic - a 5 years span. Blackout is a cult classic, it don't counts.

I think they both have lasted the same. Britney 99 - 11 Rih 05 - 16 Obviously Rihanna kinda chose herself to end her career while Britney just flopped but still…

Starshine Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Britney's reign lasted from '98-'12 and was frontloaded, but she had one of the biggest peaks of all time. Rihanna lasted from 2005 to the present day despite not having an album for 8 years, classics that has penetrated the GP's playlists for almost 20 years, is the biggest selling digital artist ever, won more Grammys, had bigger tours, etc. Her discography will better fare the test of time. Musically, I think she has it. Celebrity entity/pop culture wise, Britney has that. 4

She's been on hiatus for 8 years but still gets 23-25 million daily on Spotify

WEEKND Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Obviously Rihanna more #1s more top 10 hits more hits in general more Grammys more acclaim More versatile more record sales bigger in streaming bigger in digital sales her catalogue is far more valuable than that of Britney Britney wins in album sales and perhaps iconography. 1 1
