Shapiro would be the smartest choice, securing PA would be huge

If she's bright she will peaks Shapiro, she can't pass the chance to at least try to gain points in Pennsylvania because if she loose that state it's over

Spoiler

In all seriousness, she should stay away from Pete - she's already polarizing and he's not as likable as people think

Agreed, Shapiro is the strongest choice considering PA and the neighboring states. If she chooses Andy Beshear, I am not sure how beneficial that would be compared to Shapiro (aside from both being white guys). PA should be like the most important state for them right now to focus on.

I started to see some potential backlash now with Shapiro because of this ^. Kamala has already signaled that she would be better on the Israel/Gaza situation, as she isn't ideologically locked in like Biden is. Putting someone like Shapiro with her, might signal badly to the younger base that she is working on getting back on board with her campaign.

Thinking about it, it might be enough to just have Shapiro stumping for her day in and day out in PA while maybe she picks someone like Andy instead, who can go toe to toe with Vance? It's so complex and many moving parts, I can't imagine how they feel. They have all this momentum, and her team is handling this launch very well (so far).

Shapiro is a double edged sword. If he is as pro Israel as he is, we'll be at the same position as are in now in 2028 with younger voters

Mayor Pete.

no need for a bland white guy, that strategy did not work for Hillary. Get someone exciting.

Only atrl would suggest picking Pete. Yall really don't know anything about politics.

It has to be Josh Shapiro because of Pennsylvania although his Israel views are going to be a problem.

A lot of older voters just won't go for this.

Still hoping for Beshear... He's the most harmless one in the grand scheme of things

Is the exciting, not bland white guy in the room with us?

Beshear is a good pick for independents and more conservative D's a two-time democratic Govenor from a red state like Kentucky is a diamond in the rough

I'm so here for Andy Beshear

I truly want Andy Beshear to be the VP pick so bad. He's pro labor and socially progressive as well, especially for someone in the deep red state like Kentucky

There is no real reason why someone should want Shapiro besides that he by magic polled well in his governor race against a diehard MAGA and that he has PA next to his name. That kind of motivation - perceived electability that's not really articulated - feels eerily like why Biden was pushed to the front in 2020.

Like sure if you personally like his personality more but it is odd that people seem to think there's some huge cultural chasm between Beshear as a Kentuckian and Western PA. Ohio, Kentucky, and Western PA all have overlapping cultural touchstones (why someone like Sherrod Brown would have been even golden if his seat wasn't so important).

It feels like people are oddly coding him as like inherently southern and this somehow distinct from being able to appeal to the PA voters when his brand seems to recognize his cultural heart in Appalachia.

Beshear or Kelly are the best choices IMO

It needs to be Shapiro for strategic purposes. Then they would probably win Pennsylvania and only need Michigan and Wisconsin which they are closer to doing than in Pennsylvania.

I know the popular pick is Shapiro/Kelly/Beshear, but Tim Walz is such a better campaign speaker. His audition on cable news for the role as a surrogate this week has been much better than all of the leading candidates. What hurts him is that he is really old looking even though he is only months older than Kamala.
