Lots of albums I like a lot but couldn't include in a top 20. Glad to have 3 albums made it at least! Don't know that there will be any more for me lol.

In a list littered with Taylor Swift, be a Rhythm Nation 1814, everyone!

I wonder does Thriller being the "Highest Solo Male Entry" mean there is another male entry but it's a band?

Posted

Thriller being so high is interesting given the overall nature of the list. It's a good album, but I'm surprised to see it so high. That said, it is mercilessly weighed down by "The Girl Is Mine", so I think there are better MJ albums.

If ATRL can't let a solo male in the top 25 then rest assured they're not gonna let a whole boy band make it that far

I don't know why everyone is so angry 'evermore' is on the list, ignoring that Selena has two albums on this chart, Ariana has 3, Stripped is on here, Gaga's two worst albums are on this, etc. Like y'all really be showing you just hate Taylor for the sake of hating Taylor (when 'evermore' is probably here best album overall).

Back to Black out already. Pretty sure I voted Frank highly so I'm perched for its top 25 appearance.

I was getting worried Robyn might not appear at all. Glad to see Body Talk. I better see Robyn (self-titled) and Honey in the top 25.

Daydream and Emancipation's appearances gives me hope Butterfly and Emotions coming for top 25. :duca:

Yet to see Destiny's Child though. Not even The Writing's on the Wall :biblio: and no Michelle Williams Unexpected :shakeno: @RajibDavid we need to payola the next vote!

How do you know Unexpected was on my list ? Lol

If I don't see Linkin Park in top 30 I'm laughing at this entire list and site

I'm not going to quote all these posts, but I made a couple of notes.

P46 blond #48
- above Plastic Hearts, so things could be worse I guess.
P48 evermore #43
- decent album, tainted by Jack Antonoff who had entered his copy and paste phase.
P49 Blue #41
- should have been much higher, but I'll take Top 50.
P50 desire I want to turn into you #40
- should have been much higher
P51 Artpop #38
- mods please hide this list after the rate is finished.
P53 The highest scoring male was the one that slept with kids
- mods please hide this list after the rate is finished.
- at least ATRL put Janet higher.
P56 The Hounds of Love. #28
- great album, should have been Top 10.

There are males in Fleetwood Mac, so I think we might be safe from seeing a male band in the top 25.

Among the albums revealed so far, I've heard 41 in full enough times to assign a rating, and there's only one disaster in the list! That's pretty good.

These are also in my top 120:

Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814: 10
Madonna - Like a Prayer: 10
Kylie Minogue - Fever: 9.9
Prince - Sign o' the Times: 9.8
Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life: 9.7
Bjork - Post: 9.7
Prince - Purple Rain: 9.7
Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid: 9.6
Kylie Minogue - Impossible Princess: 9.5
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars: 9.3
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions: 9
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead: 9

These are great albums (in my top 300) and I'm happy they made the list:

Donna Summer - Bad Girls: 8.9
Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor: 8.8
Madonna - Erotica: 8.7
Aaliyah - Aaliyah: 8.6
Sade - Love Deluxe: 8.5
Kylie Minogue - X: 8.3
Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You: 8.3
Charli XCX - Brat: 8.3
Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time: 8.2
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love: 8.2

These are good albums (top 700) and I don't mind them being here:

Kate Bush - The Dreaming: 7.9
Aaliyah - One In A Million: 7.9
Robyn - Body Talk: 7.9
Michael Jackson - Thriller: 7.7
FKA Twigs - LP1: 7.7
Madonna - American Life: 7.7
Radiohead - OK Computer: 7.7
Gwen Stefani - Love. Angel. Music. Baby.: 7.4
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade: 7.2
Billie Eilish - hit me hard and soft: 7
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell: 7

These aren't bad by any means:

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours: 6.9
Frank Ocean - Blond: 6.5
Radiohead - Kid A: 6.1
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly: 6
Marina & The Diamonds - The Family Jewels: 5.4
Joni Mitchell - Blue: 5.3
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill: 4.8

And then there's this:

The Beatles - Abbey Road: 2.4

I'm intrigued by several others that I haven't heard in full. I've heard some songs from each and should really check them out:

Azealia Banks - Broke With Expensive Taste
Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever
Charli XCX - Pop 2
Fiona Apple - When the Pawn
FKA Twigs - Magdalene
Florence + The Machine - Ceremonials
Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
Kelela - Take Me Apart
Rina Sawayama - Sawayama
Rosalia - Motomami
SZA - SOS
SZA - CTRL
Tame Impala - Currents

And then there are these by disaster artists that I'll gleefully avoid despite being hammered by several of their songs due to their unfortunate ubiquity:

Adele - 21
Avril Lavigne - Let Go
Beyonce - B'Day
Hillary Duff - Dignity
Katy Perry - Prism
Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway
Nelly Furtado - Loose
Shania Twain - Come On Over
Taylor Swift - Lover
Taylor Swift - Reputation
Taylor Swift - Evermore

Haven't heard anything by these artists so might give them a spin:

Natalia Hills - Trouble
Utada Hikaru - Deep River

Didn't get into listening to albums until a few years ago so my list is lowkey a choice and this list tells me I need to expand my tastes lol but if my #1 isn't in the top 25 I'm THROWING HANDS. Easily one of the best albums of the last 10 years

About today's list, well...

Put an asterisk next to Daydream in the official list and say it's really 34 but Suburban forgot

Well, he was so rude on a day when I was already feeling down due to work stuff, and it was totally uncalled for, like excuse me for daring to participate in a simple online rate. But whatever, the less I am here the better anyway.

This rate has been fun!
