Popular Post despy Posted May 4 Popular Post Posted May 4 (edited) ESV charting all of its songs on Spotify Global. Flowers' 7th day global streams outstreaming this entire album. River both outstreaming & outpeaking all of the RO album tracks on Spotify Global. (#11 - 3.6M) ESV doing 19M streams in its first day, excluding Flowers. hopefully this will be a lesson to certain Dula stans to keep their mouths shut when it comes to miss Mooley from now on! Dua fans spent days here unprovokedly trying to drag Miley only for RO initial numbers make ESV look like a smash first day. This is even funnier when you realize they thought RO, a 3rd album, was going to "end" the career of someone who has been in the game for nearly two decades. Miley was in a much more comfortable position with her 3rd release (The Time Of Our Lives). The girls never learn. 8

Arrows Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) Anyone noticed how these "positivity"-branded albums from pop girls usually underperform miserably? Solar Power, Smile, Younger Now, Eternal Summer Vacation, Radical Optimism, Happier Than Ever and Lover (to a much lesser extent). Seems like that narrative just rarely ever works out. We want our pop girls depressed for the music to hit properly 1

Scars Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) Pettiness aside, I hope Dua is able to come back from this. The numbers are very disappointing and shows that she doesn't have an established fanbase, she heavily relied on people getting to know her hits through media. Now that she doesn't any hit single, she's struggling to get the message out and people probably don't even know she has an album out, her streaming numbers were heavily supported by casual listeners from Europe and Latin America. RO doesn't really any potential left on it, but she can still do a cute soundtrack or stand-alone single and tacked it to the album as she always does. I don't see salvation for the era, but I don't think it's the end of her as some people are already saying. Edited May 4 by Scars 2

Saintlor Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Honestly I wouldn't know this album released if it wasn't for ATRL This is the case for a lot of albums for me

It lacked the edge and identity she promised listeners, too. She mentioned big interesting artists and served retail store pop. People checked in and mostly checked out by these numbers. It won't have legs, as everything else this era. Dua is smart and will be back to the drawing board for a DLX, a remix or even a whole new era past touring. Funny how the couple of her stans who were attacking every fanbase and calling them flops while pulling numbers 3 to 4 times bigger in their debut day are saving face and nowhere to be found. They will only show up when she has a hit again. Success stans, indeed. So much for all that global lipa talk. She NEEDED the US in it That's the thing thats most funny to me. Cockiness came back to bite…it always does. I think she'll be fine ultimately, and she'll bounce back…fans need to learn to just enjoy the success + stop weaponizing it …b/c it never turns out well in the end. 1
despy Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) just realized River also outpeaked/outstreamed the other tracks on Spotify Global (3.6M - #11) very inchresting results! too bad "those" Dula stans are nowhere to be found now.. Edited May 4 by despy

Aethereal Posted May 4 Posted May 4 This is the worst downfall ever of 2010s and 20s. Katy had at least three successful albums and she kinda ruined her image and made bad music on the fourth album. Lady Gaga was going off rails with her "art" content both during the BTW and especially during the Artpop era and after the first or second week the album BTW was kinda falling away compared to other MPG eras so could definitely see that Gaga had her days numbered in the figurative way. But THIS is completely unexpected, the music while not that good like the others album is still decent to get a hit but it's not working,
Rotunda Posted May 4 Posted May 4 58 minutes ago, Ampersand13 said: Admittedly I'm not very well-versed in numbers and whatnot so I won't speak to this debut, but what I find most bewildering about this era is the public's reaction. As a more casual fan (looking from the outside) it seemed like Dua was doing what she does best, releasing quality pop hits. In my mind she kind of did exactly what people expect/want from her and did it very very well. Houdini, TS, and Illusion don't show any drop in quality from the FN singles (I'd argue they are even better than a few.) I don't think they are sonically that different but it's not like some of my favorite pop artists haven't found repeated success sticking to a genre/style. But these singles felt different enough (at least to me) to not feel like a shameless rehash any way. Houdini and Training Season are good songs but they don't have the explosive choruses or bridges you expect out of a prototypical pop hit. I think this was intentional so the songs don't just sound like FN 2.0, but I don't think it necessarily paid off. Illusion…I feel like was obviously DOA. 1
Riot Posted May 4 Posted May 4 This is just a buzz album, a spring palate cleanser. Real summer trip-hop album coming in a few weeks. Y'all just don't see the vision. 1 1
