Florence getting an actual verse and not being demoted to bg vocals :clap3:

Her background vocals were my favorite contribution to that song I fear.

Does anything sound like a smash?

(Not the best question since anything Taylor releases smashes, but still)

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is giving TikTok viral.

Boring. Everything is a reharsh of either Midnights or folklore/evermore. There're hints of some interesting directions here (London, Down Bad) but Antonoff's one-trick pony production and her vocal limitation kinda hinder it all. "Florida" is the only exciting track and Florence stole the spotlight. And Blondie doesn't know how to write hooks anymore :deadbanana2: She used to be so good at it (take 1989 or Cruel Summer for example)

Sad but I feel the same. There are no production risks or creativity at all aside from her typical storytelling poems. The melody is very lazy and one note. I miss 1989. Maybe it will grow on me with better quality hm

I agree this is way more alt-pop than anything she's ever released

You swore that you loved me but where were the clues
I died on the altar waiting for the proof
You sacrificed us to the god of your bluest days

And I'm just getting color back into my face
I'm just mad as hell 'cause I loved this place
For so long, London

Dr. Alexander

Honestly, I wonder how this album would've turned out if Max Martin executive produced. His work with Ariana on Eternal Sunshine was immaculate.

what is that, miss Taylor?

So Long, London is cute, she's no Tolerate It though. Not even a Delicate.

At least it's already better than The Archer! Still a major W!

For anyone curious about what each track sounds like. 1 - 5 so far, might update for the other if I don't decide to go to bed.

Spoiler

1. Fortnight - Slow paced nostalgia-tinted prom dancefloor ballad - Sl-t! x Mastermind

2. The Tortured Poets Department - Basically a slightly more upbeat Labyrinth from Midnights dipped into that 80's pseudo-Breakfast Club-esque formula that Bleachers do all the time.

3. My Boy Only Breaks His Favoruite Toys - Lorde-esque booming synthesizer. An amalgam of every single 1989 Vault track.

4. Down Bad - There's this little weirdly amusing toy-like production bit tickling throughout that makes it fun. The chorus sounds exactly like Sl-t with a little hint of Call It What You Want.

5. If this played in a movie scene, someone would be running in traffic. Urgent production, sad raspy singing. VERY good.

I assumed Smallest was about Matty?  Who is it about?

I got dragged so much when I said this is a Matty song when the titles were released. Look at us now.

I am most anticipating The Albatross. Since I claimed that as my favorite track on name and cover alone.

If it's not, I'm going to keep listening to it until it is.

:ryan3:

She announced that variant at my show so I’d love to see it

Nothing stands out on first listen. And to be clear - I don't want that. I know I have a Beycentric name but I love Taylor and Folklore and Evermore are among by top albums ever. This one just isn't doing it for me...yet?
