Prisoner Posted April 11 Posted April 11 ...and then a huge comeback. I've noticed that most of these pop stans only acknowledge someone as a legend by their 'comeback' ability to consider someone a legend. Eg. Beyonce with self titled, madonna with ROL and mariah with We belong together, among others. What do you guys think? 2
Sheep Posted April 11 Posted April 11 (edited) You named literally the only two pop girls who never fell off at any point. All 3 of those eras are classics because of the music not the career story. Edited April 11 by Sheep
Virgos Groove Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Not to sound like.... *gulp* ...a Swiftie, but 2016 was her downfall. Or 2019, on an artistic level. If you mean an actual downfall, Witness or Glitter-style, I don't see that hapenning. If it does happen, it'll be because of her directorial debut, not her music. 1 4 1
Klein Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Well she did what she could with evermore and then Fearless TV. She just came back real fast. 1
Popular Post ksmith Posted April 11 Popular Post Posted April 11 I promise you 2016 was her downfall. And maybe it didn't seem that significant to people who weren't directly involved in the fandom and dealing with it but it really was a significant turning point in her career and it really did feel like the full general public turned against her. Even the rhetoric surrounding the release of Rep and her tour was extremely negative and people were saying she was over. She was still successful but her real comeback and turning point felt like Folklore and the TVs. 26 5 1
Gladiator Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Don't worry - Swifties will be her downfall. Everyone is already tired of us. 1 2 2

Archetype Posted April 11 Posted April 11 People were trying to cancel her before Reputation era and her overall public image was in need of a major repair. It was technically a downfall, but not in terms of commercial performance or popularity. The fact that she came back even stronger with Reputation and immediately took control of the narrative is the main reason why her career has managed to grow even stronger.
velocity Posted April 11 Posted April 11 we have been in her comeback era for years now, where have you been?
burninredhot Posted April 11 Posted April 11 For a real downfall you don't only need haters booing you but also the public to become indifferent to you overtime. That's clearly never going to happen with Taylor tho
SeeingStars1515 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 I think she will have eras sooner than later that are less well received critically, mostly because I dont think she's really diversified her sound all that much, but i dont see her having a Witness/Glitter era (Btw MC fans love Glitter lol). She continues to make music that has allure for a large demographic of ages - so in that way, she keeps recouping audiences for her albums lol. I'm stil lwaiting for her to take a real sonic risk. She basically went from making country-pop to pop to synth-pop lol. Folklore/Evermore were perfect cause of the pandemic. I am curious if those albums were released today if theyd have the same success (even though they are good albums) "4" is considered a down-album for Bey cause no singles went top 10 even though its ranked by many as a fave. Reputation still had top 10 singles - I don't think she's experienced a true "down" album yet.
Aramis Posted April 11 Posted April 11 It's not going to fall unless she has a vitiligo reverse experience or something like that.

I think people find 2016 to be a downfall, but no lol. Honey, when AMERICA wants Tay to have a downfall it would be LOUD because theyve built her up to the moon. She is off of the ladder now that she has climbed so high, remember what happened to Elvis? Michael? Whitney? They try to tear you down hard and fast.
byzantium Posted April 11 Posted April 11 She already had a downfall and has comeback. She is just operating at a magnitude far greater than most artists.
mrpartyrocker Posted April 11 Posted April 11 But she has? She pretty much had her comeback with midnights. While I love reputation, she was just lacking that it factor during that era and lover. Midnights became her most successful era overall since 1989.

In her own terms and standards, she had her downfall. The gp wasn't there for her during 2016 and 2019, only her fans. She slowly rebranded herself during folklore and evermore but her true come back was midnights. She literally exploded and became the sensation of this decade
concubine Posted April 11 Posted April 11 (edited) I need a Witness / Glitter / Artpop / Queen / Lotus / Gag Order / Smile / Charli from her. Edited April 11 by concubine
