Wait until you find out the "civics" wings of the military-industrial complex like AmeriCorps and PeaceCorps contribute to American imperialism. Pete's plan literally was to fold in existing programs under other branches of government regarding healthcare, the environment, and more into the scope of three programs to increase youth enrollment: the US military, PeaceCorps, and AmeriCorps. Pete Buttigieg is not concerned with people recycling or volunteering with senior citizens - he's a Western chauvinist trying to re-normalize US nationalism and militancy and is literally on record as saying that the world is better off when America shapes it in its values and image. Quote That’s because I believe in the American model. I believe in American values, including American values as spread in the world — not necessarily at gunpoint, but through different means that we have. And I think that matters more than ever, because the Chinese model is being held up as a viable or even preferred alternative to some, and it includes far less room for freedom and rights that we believe are universal. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/3/28/18283925/pete-buttigieg-mayor-pete-interview-capitalism Though of course someone who defends Israel killing 30,000 Palestinians is fine with Buttigieg trying to bring back blood-and-soil American adventurism. 3 1

Ewan Chaos Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The Selina sneak Actually she unironically would have the best chance at winning given her intense drive to win means nothing could stop her from her one-term presidency I guess if I had to pick Gretchen would seem like a decent ENOUGH pick... I guess. I wouldn't have much faith though.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted February 13 ATRL Moderator Posted February 13 Warren would make the most sense other than her age. Not too deviant from the centrist policies the Democrats are currently comfortable with but also won’t completely alienate leftist voters. 1
Vermillion Posted February 13 Posted February 13 This thread is…disheartening. If not reading as parody - I suppose we need the laughs? I covered my thoughts on all this in the Election thread already. Thanks to a combo of the best options being better in their current positions, and the Electoral College, and timing, no one mentioned here would work for 2024. 1

I included a fictional character in the options It’s a mixture of much-needed levity and an analysis of the dire state of the party.

I dunno, there’s a lot of bad blood with Warren being a backstabber in 2020. I don’t see it for her in any scenario, hypothetical or otherwise. Her appeal never broadened beyond the suburban white base that she was fighting tooth and nail with Pete and Kamala for either.

Eat The Acid Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Michelle and Gretchen are the only ones that would beat Trump in November. The rest of those choices except joke choice, Taylor, would lose horribly to Trump
Eat The Acid Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Oh I would also like to see Warren V Trump Warren needs to Mike Bloomberg Trump I’ve never seen someone be so swiftly handed his ass and his race so quickly due to a lashing at a debate.
