America was (and still is) very Islamophobic after 9/11. And part of that felt like it was due to not seeing the Middle East denounce ISIS and denounce the actions of 9/11.  After a tragedy, if there’s no clear distinction between a terrorists group and a population, the victim of the tragedy (whether the bigger opponent or not) just views the entire population as the enemy.

America didn’t view ISIS as the sole enemy but Islam and believed their beliefs towards America as a whole is what lead to ISIS. And to America, Middle East = Islam due to majority of their population practicing it.

Today I learned ISIS did 9/11 :deadbanana2:

Looks like IDF will be implementing a ground offensive imminently. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Israeli troops inside Gaza by the time this weekend rolls around. A mess

But that’s what Israel isn’t doing. They warn the innocent so they won’t kill them. They do directly kill and bomb Hamas terrorists which aren’t innocent at all.

*require 24 hours for 1 million invididuals to uproot their lives and evacuate... to a place that disallows them to return, or else they will be MURDERED*

*also cuts off water, electricity, food, gas access so people are unable to evacuate, again in 24 hours notice, or else they will be MURDERED*

*also lets forget about al of the elderly, disabled, and children who are not able to evacuate as easily*

*Israel proceeds to indiscriminately bomb Palestinian citizens*

"Well They were WarNeD!1!"

Y'all have actually lost your minds.

Israel has given them 24 hour notice, How isn't that giving them opportunity to evacuate, Responsibility would've been if it was a sneak attack - But this latest bombing was tactile to hemorrhage Hamas in a way that would make it near impossible for them to smuggle the kidnapped Israeli's to nearing shores or that of Libya.  Israel holds no responsibility to those who decided to listen to a jihadist group and stay - They can only do so much and send out warning signals to the point where one will make their own decision in the end.

I find it also interesting how the masses (Especially arab who were having parades) held no responsibility on Hamas and used the '75 year occupation' cop out excuse to justify the atrocities.  The Lebanese raped, slaughtered & ethnic cleansed my people and stole land of my people - Does that mean I'm equally justified to do such things on them? No.

It's like giving a thirsty person contaminated water and expecting to be praised for it. All indications point to the fact that even with this magnanimous 24-hr notice, there isn't anywhere viable for the Palestinians to evacuate, and surely you can see the folly in trying to evacuate 1m+ people in peacetime, much less wartime? Let's not be disingenuous please.

As an American, some of the comments about this situation really grinding my gears.

The US is not some multi-ethnic paradise with peace and harmony, I live in NYC, in fact, conflicts from outside the country going back centuries exist here in these concentrated areas.

The holier than thou bent some US citizens are bringing to this conflict in general is truly mind boggling, idk if it's the liberalism, exceptionalism or both.

Anyways, at least some folks like @Scarsand @Communionare making good posts.

This. I don’t wanna hop in my political bag and add to the fire but some poor takes here are just insane. :rip:

Why is that one side is in-sighting such vile acts en masse, yet everyone is condemning Israel for retaliating?

Peace treaty's will never be on the table again after this provoked attack, It won't be the 93' with the short lived arab-israeli peace treaty.

So... you agree the Hamas attack was provoked, and therefore classifying Israel bombing Palestinians as just "retaliatory" in nature, is in fact a deliberate misrepresentation of the history of apartheid against the Palestinian people?

It's blissful thinking to expect no casualties when a well backed country is infiltrated by terrorist representatives the people pushed into power.

You just described Israel.

These are the same people who would preach 'Queers for Palestine' (An Actual sign from a Sydney Australia protest)..... The logic is.... not there and when faced with facts they'll downvote you lol.

What is it with the gay community and aligning themselves with people/movements/organizations that wouldn't think twice on... you know? It's weird -  trying to justify or excuse what Hamas has done is... wild.

Palestinians (including the queer ones!) deserve to be slaughtered because you don't agree 100% with their beliefs?

Pure censorship. And Israel is supposed to be the democratic example in the Middle West? This is hilarious.

The Hamas attack took two years of planing. Tell me how two years of planning is provoked  and not a declaration for war.

Israel has had Palestinians under apartheid for only the last 2 years? You are such a deeply unserious poster in here.

Right so in that time Hamas has never attacked Israel. They peacefully coexisted.
