Lemme ask the other way around. When was the last time one of her albums sold 700,000 copies in a calender year? (Mariah, 2023). This narrative of let's make Mariah seem like the biggest flop ever.. is so worn-out and as Rocky would say: "Bowing" 1

Hiatus
- Taylor is close to passing her in stats but has no where near the social-consciousness of Madonna. We will talk about Madonna, Janet, Beyonce forever for their social impact but even just 10 years from now, all Taylor has is her sales and chart runs unless she completely reinvents her state of mind. Think what a movie about Madonna, Janet, Beyonce would be like vs a movie about Taylor. There is far, far more than sales when it comes to legend status. - Kylie simply doesn't have the stats to compete with Madonna, she's more of a modern Cher in terms of her ability to have comebacks. - Mariah has AIWFCIS which is a cultural staple of Christmas but rest of her discography is about 100m units behind Madonna. Taylor is in her 30s and come back when she gets to 60 to see. What about taylors forgettable and quick produced disposable songs? No one knows and remembers her forggetable songs except for her swifties. Even Most people around the world still don't know her name. I think with Mariah and Taylor they command respect from GP as women in pop that Madonna doesn’t. Also AIWFCIY and Shake it Off are objectively more remembered than any Madonna song looking at the stats.

I dunno....Ever since NippleGate, Janet's legacy has sorta gotten pushed to the wayside. Even her own protege, Britney Spears, has overshadowed her impact despite being heavily influenced by her. Taylor's no doubt going to have a bigger legacy than Janet Jackson in the grand scheme of things. It may sound blasphemous and Janet deserves her props for her influence but, realistically, there's just no way Taylor won't overshadow her in due time, assuming that hasn't already happened. If you ask the average Joe what Janet Jackson's social impact is, they largely won't be able to tell you. This is especially true overseas. But Taylor Swift is already riling up Republicans rn by encouraging her young fans to vote. And she sparked a major conservation of musicians owning their own masters with the Scooter fallout and Taylor's Version series. Just because Taylor doesn't wear extravagant costumes or act like a sex symbol doesn't mean she has no social impact.

readytowind
In my country, especially people over 50 don't know who they are. Many never heard of their names. But everyone knows the queen of pop. She unites the different generations between old and young as acquaintances. Like someone else said, she's on another level. That's how it is. Your favorites will never. Edited December 30, 2023 by readytowind

Even Michael Jackson's last projects didn't have the impact that he once had in the 90s or 80s, and he's still the biggest musician act ever. https://trends.google.es/trends/explore?date=all&q=%2Fm%2F01vs_v8,%2Fm%2F04xrx&hl=es Here, this is a comparison between Madonna and Mariah's search trends over the past decade. It is not even close, Madonna's fame is global, Mariah only wins in a few countries. And this chart starts in 2004, so we are not having into account Madonna's biggest peak eras. This is the reason why she's still a big touring force, even today. She is on another level. Edited December 30, 2023 by Sebastián Muñoz
Dante Silva
Madonna’s influence on society transcends the music scene, she is responsible for guiding society in to an enlightened age of increased sexual freedom, liberation, the lifting of shame from having sexual taboos, being gay and doing much to reduce bigotry and racism. The other two did none of those things and have not transcended the medium of entertainment. They have no legacy on human behavior or modifying social and cultural norms. Taylor is bigger in the present purely as an entertainer due to the reach of broadband and how her metrical data from different platforms can be seen, reviewed, measured, processed and stratified by her marketing team as she lives through her imperial phase in real time during the digital age. 1
