Like others said, no one does this with male artists. Madonna is factually at the top of the pop pantheon as the female blueprint, setting the model of pop stardom for female pop artists. Numbers are there, the influence is there, the longevity is there. People with knowledge of pop culture and the history of popular music are able to effectively recognise Madonna at the top, with the history of pop music being split between before Madonna and after Madonna. There are entire video documentaries about that. look it up. *sips tea* speaking of demand... she just sold out 2 shows at the Hollywood Bowl (17k each) and 2 shows at the Madison Square Garden. She even had to add more dates as both venues were only 1 concert initially. But what do I know. Billboard reported $11,8 million from the first 6 shows in November - with said Casino being one of them. 10 more shows to report. Madonna is doing so well. Mariah outsold Madonna by 2:1 in Japan. would anyone say that Japan is a weak market for her? Madonna has still sold 10m albums there. While Madonna was infinitely bigger than Mariah in South America... Mariah sold pretty well there too. Mariah sold over 2 million albums on Brazil alone. Mariah made one mistake tho... She never toured the continent. A decade ago she wanted to perform in Brazil, but something fishy went down with the promoters and the tour was cancelled. Mariah never got close.
