People Saying Christina when her debut is nearly diamond with multiple #1s :toofunny3:

They're saying Pink when she was totally dominating with Missundaztood which was huge everywhere....

Lana when she was literally blacklisted by radios and BTD is still charting after a decade :rip:

Do some of you even think before writing ? :ace:

The obvious answers are the Demi's,Selena's,Camila's.

Oh and how come nobody mentioned Kesha? :skull: she's like the best example. She was the least successful during the Pop girls craze, especially in Europe.

True also Gaga sold 440K, 99 cents copies in US otherwise the number of sales in US would be around 2M for BTW and 1.85M for Loud barely a massive difference for Rihanna was a single's artists  and the gap in singles was huge.

Meanwhile Rihanna outsold Gaga internationally in albums sales without including singles at all.

If it was easy selling this much then why Rihanna couldnt sell 2% of that when she did the same thing with Rated R? :skull: A huge loss since it was not even backed by Amazon who was paying Interscope full money difference....Like please :toofunny2:

Certified Loud sales - 6.95M (13 years)

Midnights official US + UK + Canada sales - +7M (13 months)

I don't know what those dated certifications supposed to prove but Midnights, second biggest album of 2022 is bigger than Loud which was not even top 3 in its own year with Doo-Wops, Teenage Dream, My Worlds and Recovery all stomping on it.

All aside, people don't call 2022-2023 Taylor's peak for Midnights only but also things like its tour outgrossing Rihanna's career total or her other album's total spending more weeks inside BB200 in a year than Rihanna's catalogue did in 17 years etc. so things don't seem really comparable i am afraid

Not the apples vs oranges comparison :deadbanana:

Loud is eligible for 5xP in the US lmao

Is certifications being dated really the hill you wanna die on after you claimed that Lover actually sold only 3M in the US because that was what its certification says

I agree but who peak was bigger Koda or Kana's?

Good point -- so true! Totally forgot about Kana's reign lol. "Motto..." was a cute girl, lemme go stream

I miss j-queens so much! I feel like the rise of AKB48 and then k-pop kind of killed the concept. No we only have singer-songwriters like Aimer and lovable flops like Chanmina and Airi Suzuki.

Yeah but this is not the narrative that works in this specific instance so who cares about consistency.

Omg who is strl trying to fool talking about Rihanna not being a big celebrity or being the #1 ever lmao  2007-08 she was the #1 artist around the world. Maybe not for the Gays' but women around the world were copying her hairstyles, looks from each and every era. Also she was the most subscribed female artist on YouTube until some point. Was and is the most Googled female singer till date beating the likes of britney and Beyonce. I'm thinking either y'all are too young or just dumb on purpose.

For me it's Kesha.

She only got one "successful" album, from there she went downhill.

This is an interesting question.  Maybe Selena, Demi, or Lana.

Demi was never an MPG and Lana is an alt girl.

P!nk is the correct answer . M!ss and  TTAL, her biggest eras, were big but never dominant .

P!nk

Doja Cat..

Is Ice Spice considered a MPG? If so, then her peak was very small.

Objectively speaking, in terms of MPG’s to debut in the last 10-15 years:

Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez & Dua Lipa.

That said it’s mostly a product of the era in which they peaked in.

The middle-to-late 2010’s, unfortunately, didn’t have the same consumer heights as the 2000’s to early 2010’s and the industry had vastly changed by that point.

Nonetheless, Ariana Grande was able to obtain a massive streaming high, even scoring the title of ‘Most Streamed Female’ for a time so she excelled either way.

I would argue that Jennifer Lopez and, possibly, Christina Aguilera didn’t have a peak as big as Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne in terms of MPG’s from the very early 2000’s followed by Beyonce, Alicia Keys. Pink, Kelly Clarkson sit somewhere in the middle aa do Rihanna and Taylor Swift depending on how you view their numbers statistically.

Jennifer lopez? She was absolutely Massive in her peak Few have yet to come close to!

1999  On the 6 (7.5 million)

#1 If you had my love (5 weeks)

#8 Waiting for Tonight

2001

#1 JLo (8.5 million)

# 3 Love don't cost a thing

#18 Play

#1 Im real remix (5 weeks)

2002

#1 J to the L o! The remixes (4 million)

#1 Aint it funny remix (6 weeks)

#10 Im gonna be alright)

2002

#2 This is me then (6.7 million)

#3 Jenny From the block

#1 All i have (4 weeks)

2004

#2 Control myself

2005

#2 Rebirth (3 million)

#11 Get right (Global number #1)

Between 1999-2003 JLo has sold over 25 million albums world wide, had 4 number #1 singles on the Hot 100, had several #1 singles around the world, her albums had gone multiple platinum around the world.

In 2001 She became the First & only Artist to have a Number #1 movie & album in the same week.

In 2002

She made Billboard chart history when her Remix album became them first #1 Remix album in America.

Jennifer became the First artist to have a number #1 on the Hot100, Hot200 and Airplay at the same time and a double feat as became the first to do so with remixes.

she's the First artist in Billboards history to have 2 back to back #1 singles with remixes!

she spent over 5 months at the number #1 position between 1999-2002 alone.

between 2001-2002 JLo had 8 consecutive top3 singles in the UK

Then between 2001/2 Her clothing line *JLo by Jennifer Lopez" ranked in $280 million  in retail sales in the US.

her Perfume Glow in 2002 broke perfume records at the time & became the #1 selling Fragrance in 9 countries.

1999- #1 If you had my love (single)

2000- #1 The Cell (movie)

2001-#1 The wedding Planner (movie)

2001- #1 JLo (Album)

2002-#1 All I have (single)

2002- #1 Maid in Manhattan (movie)

2005-#1 Monster in Law (movie)

#1 selling Perfume (Glow).

JLo by Jennifer Lopez ranked in $280 million in retail sales In the US in its first year.

FHM worlds sexiest women

2000-#1 Jennifer Lopez

2001- #1 Jennifer Lopez

Between 1999-2001 alone She was nominated for 4 grammies (2 Latin Grammies), 4 Brit Awards, was Billboards female of the year in 2001.

JLo was the 8th Biggest selling album of 2001 worldwide

This is me then was released on 26th November 2002 & was the 19th biggest selling album worldwide of 2002 despite only having 5 charting weeks.

In the US This is me then had Massive weekly sales for instance

Billboard Hot200

26th Nov 2002 -Feb 2003

#6 - This is me then 314,171 (NEW)

#7- This is me then 171,811 (wk 2)

#8 - This is me then 169,434 (wk 3)

#5 - This is me then 345,688 (wk 4)

#4- This is me then 233,201 (wk 5)

#2  This is me then 88,711 (wk 6)

#6 - This is me then 83,150 (wk 7)

#8- This is me then 81,728 (wk 8).

this was her 3rd album 3-4th year after her debut, and the same success with her albums & singles, movies & Fragrances was having similar success globally even Rebith was a decent hit and Get right was a global number #1 not bad considering it was her going into her 6th-7th year after her music debut.

I mean She was absolutely dominating everything.

In 2002 She was the biggest artist on The planet, not only was she The it girl she was Smashing with her music and movies.

Not many artist can compete with her 3rd album peak let alone her impact especially between 1999-2003.

According to ChartMasters:

Laundry Service (Shakira) - 18,054,000

Born To Die (Lana Del Rey) - 18,115,000

Breakaway (Kelly Clarkson) - 17,357,000

Dua Lipa (Dua Lipa) - 16,976,000

Songs In A Minor (Alicia Keys) - 15,328,000

My Everything (Ariana Grande) - 14,000,000

J. Lo (Jennifer Lopez) - 12,766,000

Bangerz (Miley Cyrus) - 7,696,000

Revival (Selena Gomez) - 5,514,000

Demi (Demi Lovato) - 4,800,000

Honestly, it’s Demi. I tried to put all of the MPGs with a peak under 20M units. Shakira, Kelly Clarkson, Dua Lipa and Ariana are the only ones with good recurrent stats.
