Smallest MPG peaks?

Recommended Posts

Which girls (I guess you can include the new ones too) had the smallest / least impressive “peak” in their career?

This doesn’t necessarily mean their career is not impressive, it could just be spread out and not as “spiky” in terms of popularity.

Mmmmmaybe Meghan? Title era was the biggest debut MPG era the last decade but I feel because of the way she declined and that her touring power was almost abysmal that that would weigh her down.

This is an interesting question.  Maybe Selena, Demi, or Lana.

I've seen people point out that Rihanna has remained quite consistent in popularity - she never quite reached the level of Gaga or Bieber but always was popular. That probably benefitted her in the long run.

Yeah Demi scored a moderate hit every era but never had a huge album with a bunch of big singles.

I would have to say Camila Caballo.

She went from being one of the members of arguably the biggest girl group of all time to the biggest pop star in the world for a few years.

When Señorita was released, she and Shawn felt like Justin and Selena. They were the moment. On top of the world.

But then the downfall, and now she is working at walmart.

Ariana. Even at her peak she was being overshadowed by others (notably Billie), and most of her accomplishments were subsequently surpassed.

another lie that's always repeated. in 2019 her and billie were 1A and 1B and it wasn't until the long run that TU,N got overshadowed by Lover and billie's album

not to mention Sweetener went from flopping to stable on the charts because of her success at the time

You can argue globally that Love The Way You Lie to We Found Love was her peak.

No they are right.  Part of Rihanna’s success is in part to the fact that she did not really have mega peaks like The Fame, 21, 1989 etc.  Even in 2010, she was a bit overshadowed by Gaga, Taylor, Bieber, Bruno, Eminem and even Katy to a degree.  And then only a few months after Loud’s debut, Adele came around and overshadowed everyone.

i always hate when people say Rihanna never had a huge peak as if she wasn't stomping on everyone hits wise from 2007-2013. and people are still streaming those songs :deadbanana:

Demi isn't a MPG and never has been.

Selena is a decent answer here. She was popular at her peak but nowhere near the level as others.

I’m sorry but she never felt like the biggest pop star in the world in any sense. She is probably one of the only artists mentioned this far who never really had solo hits. (NBTS was pushed into the top 10 with help from a feature). People never seemed interested in her as an icon / figure.

Christina Aguilera, her peak was "beautiful" chart run.

Gaga was flopping by 2012, Kesha and Nicki aren't even in the conversation, Bey was underperformed with 4 and Adele didn't breakthrough until 2011.

so ya, from 2007-2013 Rihanna had the hits, albums, iconic looks and videos, and even fairly successful tours.

She had 4 #1 hits and sold close to 20M albums in the span of like 2 years.

and after that she fade away, that's what a small peak means.
