The way I jumped onto her website sign up for WhatsApp the moment I saw everyone give this muffled snippet critical acclaim.  I haven’t been sent anything yet, I’m desperate

It sounds like a FN Song. Not mad about it but i was expecting something new

I feel like she’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t lol. Like she clearly makes pop music with a GROOVE so almost anything can be compared to FN for those reasons… I think it’s gonna come down to vocals & her nuances on the song

Nothing will convince me that Sacrifice’s bass line and Houdini’s don’t sound very inspired by the same sound, and Sacrifice is an amazing song so that’s not a bad thing

Also didn’t insiders say this album is synthpop too then people started having meltdowns in the base? :rip:

Not trying to be shady because I enjoy that album but DawnFM is extremely Max Martin'd and kinda safe in the way it's presented. Dua has Kevin and Dany on board with this one so we're getting something much less subdued.

I know she dragged Danny and Kevin into the studio and drained every last bit of talent out of them to make these songs

The insiders were talking about this song being electro/synth pop. I don’t think anyone’s heard/ spilled yet on the album itself.

That’s not even remotely similar to Future Nostalgia based on snippet. Even if it was on that album, it would feel out of place. People really be hating just for the sake of it…

No like it’s getting annoying, especially because it seems like it comes from this music snob POV

I don't get why she has to have a whole different sound whenever MOST artists stick to the same ****, album after album.

Well that happened with FN and FN still stands far and away on top when it comes to mainstream albums with that sound

this is so funny cause if anything she herself hopped on the 80s revival trend. saying that anyone copied her in particular is laughable lol

same goes for the sound/aesthetic of this new project but go off i guess

Blinding Lights and Don’t Start Now were basically the songs that really ushered in that sound, what do you mean? :rip:

Yet she's the one constantly noted by people and major publications as the main influence of that sound in the mainstream this decade lol

Can you show me the 80s/disco revival that was going on when Don’t Start Now dropped? :celestial5:

BJTCH THOSE CHORDS OH WE LOVE YOU KEVIN PARKSUS AND DANNY L HARLE!!!!!!!

also not the blinding lights and DSN discourse when they both are very different sounds. blinding lights hopped on an existing 80s trend but from a different approach/genre whereas DSN fused disco elements from the late 70s and ushered in the disco resurgence we saw for a bit. i cant at yall categorizing them together just bc they pull from pre 90s genres

The only way people wouldn't say "sounds like FN" is if she like....completely stepped away from making upbeat music.

And even if she did that, they'd probably say "ahhh damn, I liked Dua because she knew how to make a good fun bop :/"

The only reason people want to downplay Dua’s impact is because she is a woman lets be real.
