blackoutbaby Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Taylor Swift continues to outsell all the other current pop girls, and men as well. She hasn't had a single flop era either, with Lover being her least successful, but still managing to do better than most of our faves. Considering she debuted even before Katy and Gaga, and has still maintained massive success, is it safe to say that Taylor is a legend? EDIT: Lover is not her least successful era, Evermore is. Regardless, both were very successful, but still my bad. Edited October 21, 2023 by blackoutbaby
Armani? Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 No, maybe in like 5 years would seem more fitting to be labeled that 1 1
Klein Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Um. Lover is actually not her least successful as it is her 4th biggest album. Her least successful would be evermore. Still 3X Platinum eligible so the point still stands. To answer the question, I don't know if she's there already, but she is 100% going to be one. She's "only" been in the game for 17 years after all. 1
Kh-Loud Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) Despite being a bad singer, she is one or on a guarantee path to become one Edited October 20, 2023 by Kh-Loud 1 1 1
shookspeare Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 She's not relevant in the Czech Republic so no 2 6
Bosque Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Yes, there is no objective way to deny it ("She doesn't have impact" is not objective) 7
Pheromosa Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 shes very young still all she has to do is age up atm
Peak Now Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 How many pages do we think this one will get? 2 6
Solaria Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Legends are past their prime and she isn’t past her prime yet. She is 100 % gonna end up being one though. 4 2 1
AxelFox Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) No, I don't think so. I mean, you could say her commercial success is legendary but the actual music, artistry and talent are definitely not on par for her to occupy that lane in music history. I do not see her be regarded in the same breath as the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Prince and so on in the future; artists that have actually pushed boundaries and challenged the way we listen and experience pop music and culture. But then again this forum calls anyone a legend and the bar is in hell so... Edited October 20, 2023 by AxelFox 7 1 4 17
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 What are we doing here debating this? The answer is yes and that is just that at this point. 1
Popular Post Feanor Posted October 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 20, 2023 Of course. Her catalog is going to go down as one of the most significant in music history, alongside The Beatles, Queen, MJ… 13 3 1

Cotton Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Her sales are legendary. But is Taylor Swift legendary? Mno 2 1 3
Trent W Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Sorry but if Taylor is not a legend in 2023 then no one is 10 1 1 1
Obsession Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) She was already a legend the moment she became the first artist to debut with 1m+ copies four times in a row. And even if you SOMEHOW disagreed at that point, Midnights selling 1m+ copies in the streaming era and her becoming the first artist to debut 10 songs in the top 10 cemented that. But people will argue nevertheless because they don't want to believe she's a legend, but her success is unprecedented and that alone makes her a legend. It doesn't really matter how old she is, or what she goes on to do from here on out. Her name will permanently be in the history books. That's a legend. Edited October 20, 2023 by Obsession 6

Using this logic Beyoncé isn’t a legend either. Wouldn’t the fact that both Beyoncé and Taylor have been able to reinvent themselves and stay relevant for so long confirm their legend status rather than reject it? 1
babyboy1 Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 No. You need to be 40+ to be even considered for the legend status. 1
Chartman Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Her commercial career will go down in history. 170 Million album units so far and she is pacing to join a top5 with the Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson and Queen in that regard. That would make her the #1 female recording artist of all time. The Rolling Stones sold north of 35 Million concert tickets in their career, the biggest total in the history of music live entertainment. After the eras tour Taylor‘s total will be 18 Million tickets sold. She can beat them in the future with large global stadium tours. 1
