This season of ATRL Survivor was an absolute strategic disgrace. In all of my years of hosting, I have never seen such an unbridled fetish for complacency as displayed over the last 2 months. It was pervasive; like a curse spreading across almost the entire cast. Its presence was only rivaled by a record-breaking number of selfies used as currency to succeed, and a perplexing main character syndrome complex from those who had two minutes of airtime. One arguable upside to this season was that, in the absence of complexity or intrigue, the narrative was very simplistic to follow. Life is stressful and busy -- so perhaps we should thank you all for making this season so easy to understand. If you missed a few episodes, you wouldn't have had to play catch up, as most viewers' predicted boot order was cemented around the time of Lemon's elimination. The Houdini tribe was assembled in round one due to a poorly designed tribe splitting concept, and they were able to steamroll their way to the finish, assisted by a few enablers and long-standing friendships. Despite a plethora of red flags blaring and many advantages in their favor, a competent opposition group refused to form, instead targeting each other. Every round, we were teased with a potential strategic shakeup, only for another non-Houdini to be sent out the door - seemingly shocked at the betrayal and not realizing the obvious. Once Houdini started to cannibalize, the players fell in the exact order telegraphed since the start of the game. Basically every single twist and tribal result went in the most boring and expected way, without any true pivot in the season's strategy. Taking this path of least resistance, I must congratulate our final 3 - @Armani?, @EnterTheAttic, and @fiercE - on making it to the end. Ultimately, despite the journey being predictable, you guys (along with Aurora) were the strategic core of this season. You saw the advantage that you had from early on and ensured that it would take you to the end. It was the winning strategy and regardless of what I (or anyone) says about this season, nobody can take this fact away from you. You made it to the end and that is a huge accomplishment. You survived many twists and curveballs that the hosts tried to throw at you, and outlasted 21 other people! You should be proud of yourselves!! And one of you will get to be extra proud in a few minutes! __________________________ Of course - we want to thank our main judges @Auburn @boys @Gateau @luckystrike @Rotunda @Staryu @supaspaz and @wish - for dedicating so much of their time to provide thoughtful critiques and rankings for everyone! You guys are amazing. Thank you to @touya kinomoto for serving as overnight host a few times this season!! This was a very diverse cast time-zone wise, and having that coverage was critical. RL and I are very appreciative! And of course thank you to our wonderful viewers too for a) not spilling anything and b) really engaging with what was going on during the season.
