They never made the same kind of music and Britney could never pull off a live performance of single ladies Beyoncé has made it clear that hard working and talented women like Tina Turner were her inspiration. Britney’s thing was something else. and I suppose imitation really is the highest form of flattery edit: the left one shows the before pic. it's supposed to show how they've been inspired by each other. Shelter Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Brit fans are still salty that Beyoncé has the better career. You bring this on yourselves when you bring Beyoncé up. 7

James_Dean Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Absolutely! Her relevance even after a 7 year career hiatus is insane. She has been cited as an inspiration to many and her influence in the industry is very much present
MingYouToo Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 The Brit fans need to chill and support their fave, no one disagrees that she's not a legend but don't expect to not have **** thrown back at you the moment you try to undermine Beyonce or say they're at par with each other... They're just not. Britney is a legend but Bey's thing is just something a tad bit bigger and different. 1

Abracadabra Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) Of course she is She's the epitome of a pop legend. Anyone who says no is just delusional and wrong. Edited October 15, 2023 by Miichael

Yes for obsessing over Christina Aguilera, touching basket ball players & having knives around her pets . Shes always making headlines for embarrassing things. It has nothing to do with her legacy. Her latest single bomb with so much hype & most of her album streams are being carried by ONE SONG! imagine coming for BEYONCE when she’s been bigger pop force since what 2005 She will always be a pop icon but she is not a legend sorry babe nice try! Oops ! Edited October 15, 2023 by Power love 1 2
XSuperior Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Britney is an example of the dangers of the music industry that preys on young women. Nobody wants to be the next Britney Spears. Just thinking about the recent incidents like the basketball player who didn’t recognize her or the racist comments she made about Jay-Z or the photo with a dog sniffing her cooter. That’s just not legendary behavior. She’s really a tragic figure. 2 1 4

She will always be a pop icon but she is not a legend. I agree with some of what you said , recently whenever Britney comes to my mind it’s always the embarrassing things she did and said comes first and not her iconic music and songs , sad ? Definitely but it is what it is
Tropez Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Had she continued on her path with In the Zone and that whole debacle between 2005-2007 never happened. I would say yeah, she was looking like she was getting better and better. But that never happened. She’s known now today as a tragic figure. Bigger for her scandals and problems than her music. She’s an icon. But not a legend. The only way to fix this would be to do a total 180 and revamp her career and public image.
Starshine Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I love Knee, I really do but a lot of her middle aged fans living in 2007 have posters of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton on their walls, also take pride in making collages of her "iconic" moments like showing her puss coming out the car, shaving her head, or wearing a pink party city wig (and also used to say delulu things like Nicki Minaj copied Britney). Using that ugly blue dress at the 2013 Smurfs premiere is somehow a drag towards Beyoncé even though that big wig is clearly from the IASF era 5 years prior, tells me something is cognitively wrong and I do get secondhand embarrassment as a Britney stan. 5 1

If you have to ask the question, then the answer is yes. That doesn't even get into the breakdown. Ya'll don't want me to post my dissertation notes...or maybe you do? 2
Trent W Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) Yes she is an absolute legend, this is not ip for debate. About this thread: She did not influence Beyonce tho, they came around the same time both influenced by Janet/Maddona Taylor was influenced by Britney but very minimally, Bad Blood video was toxic 3.0 and the use of Max Martin, but that would be it imo And Gaga and Britney are not in the same level, of Gaga was forced to retire like Britney was she wouldn’t be as relevant. Britney’s impact was unmatched. She was pop culture in the 00s. Everything was orbiting around her media wise. And for the ones saying she did not have longevity she did last 15 years getting hits and big albums. Right until BJ album she never flopped. Edited October 15, 2023 by Trent W 1
slw84 Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Music- Changed the landscape of pop music and she is THE FIRST multiplatinum teen female popstar to successfully transition into adult pop stardom as a multiplatinum artist. Before Britney, there was no one: Not Debbie Gibson/tiffany/Brandy/Monica/Aaliyah/Leann Rimes...After Britney did it with Britney and In the zone, there was Miley, Rihanna, taylor, Xtina and others. Pop music- Trailblazer not only for teen pop but pop music in general thanks to her #1 breakthrough hit Baby one more time which broke Max Martin through. BOMT was his first #1 global hit and he is now #3 in line against two Beatles for having the most #1s either as a songwriter or producer in music history. The hits started years prior but the phenomenon started with Britney. Tons of classics and innovative outputs that are still referenced, samples, and inspire generations. Entertainment- As many outlets put it, Azealia, and Joe Budden: She changed music and changed the game. She was the main act and other acts were created to be a new version of her for other labels. She's made exes and antis iconic just by their affiliation with Britney. Very few artists hold the recognition of: Before X/After X The Beatles, James brown, Aretha, Diana, Elvis, the Supremes, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney, Britney, Beyonce, Gaga, Eminem, Taylor, Drake, Lil Kim, Jay Z, Biggie, Tupac, Lauryn Hill, Missy, Kendrick to name a few. Iconic stage shows/performances basically what Azealia said her in tweet. Best selling female artists of an entire decade. Pop culture- I won't even bore anyone with the obvious music, videos, visuals, performances but even references in music, movies, commercials, in general. She's embedded into pop culture for the good, bad and ugly. Even her Instagram is making iconic legendary memes just on her having fun. Then of course you have the pap years, downfall, comeback, legacy sustainability of awards and accolades and the residency, and #FreeBritney. Stats, too- There are too many to count but the longevity, hits, sales, and will forever serve as a top 10 seller WW amongst females. 2 1
