You know they wouldn't play MJ on MTV right? MJ had to have undeniable success and talent to reach his peak and he was still outsold by Garth Brooks a country star.

i didnt say he didnt face any racism :rip: the fact that hes still the biggest, garth brooks is local anyway

It's definitely the most boring stanwar between pre-2010s artists.

Garth Brooks US sales are heavily inflated and even then he is far behind MJ globally.

Yes, yes we do.

Swifties are insufferable, running into every thread tripping over themselves to declare Taylor the winner of accolades she's not even eligible for. It's flagrant success-stanning done to agitate other bases and nothing else. Very low-hanging bait.:pool:

I can't believe we're discussing pop culture with people whose historical scope doesn't go futher than 2014.

But your argument doesn't make any sense? How is Michael Jackson being the biggest artist alive correlating to Taylor appealing to white people more because she's white? Michael is also the exception, not the standard. The USA has historically always favored white artists above black ones.

No one is saying Taylor = white and thats where all her success comes from. But to outright ignore that variable in reason towards her success (especially in the US and some territories outside the US where white beauty and white skin is held in very high regards) is just ignorant

Most beyonce's fans don't think or care about Taylor like that at least from my experience. The stan wars didn't really start until Beyonce started touring

Keep trying to analyze things critically, with nuance, and without bias. I promise it doesn’t go unnoticed. Your first take in this thread was outstanding, insightful, and most of all, accurate. As is this post. We can only keep trying to inspire civil discussions amidst the immaturity of the few loud and annoying stans that give both fanbases a bad reputation. But overall most of us respect both women and a good chunk even enjoy the music from both, like myself. We’re just not as crazy or loud as the annoying ones so we go unseen, like you said, and all the negativity unfortunately sticks in peoples minds :rip:

Aww thank you! You are so kind.

I always try to be critical, but I’m still biased towards things I like/love. I don’t like when I get into those pointless arguments. However, I do see so many Swifties bringing Taylor in Beyoncé threads and it frustrates me deeply, so I might sometimes say things that wouldn’t be the best. However, it wouldn’t change the fact that August and All Too Well (10 Minute Version) are on my mind daily since I’ve heard them for the first time.

This stupid stan war is even more ridiculous when you consider that those are the two women that respect each other and look up to each other. Beyoncé is the one who was there for Taylor at the VMAs and she was the one that helped shape the way Taylor does business, and Taylor has always said only the kindest things about Beyoncé and I’m sure Beyoncé follows what Taylor does and is inspired by her.

Isn't that what hive does too? You guys always parade with: Beyoncé is the highest grossing black artist so this makes her most talented black artist ever!!!!

Beyonces success isn't intended to put her peers and predecessors down. The issue is that there are many hurt feelings from Beys culture regarding what black artists of the past and present have gone through at the hands of white artists being pushed to the forefront.

Black culture and society as a whole would never allow for Beyonce to be called more talented over MJ, Prince and Whitney and Aretha. No matter how much she sells.

It's very one sided. Most Taylor fans have other stuff to care about.

If it's not Bey stans who keep feeling insecure of Taylor's success, this stan war wouldn't exist

Let me get this straight

Taylor is on top of the game, her tour is celebration of her entire discography, so of course she will surmount Beyonce's tour number

from the Spotify number data, Taylor eclipsed her too. Sis collected 100mil+ streams daily

Idc what anyone said in Twitter on this forum, I always see Taylor's fair competitors are Drake and The Weeknd

The comparison with Beyonce doesnt make sense at all

If there's someone Beyonce fans want to pick up the fight with, Renaissance and Chromatica's numbers are not really far

and everyone can see and knowS the eras tour is clearly the biggest live social cultural event at least post pandemic and this reinassance tour it's not even the most talked tour Beyonce has ever made :ninja:

Very one-sided indeed … and this is just page 1 :grump:

because if race was not that big of a factor why mj was able to reach his status then idk why they keep using it to defend beyonce numbers

and i already said that i get that taylor appeals more to white people and thats one of the reason why shes more successful than beyonce, like...

also you know the bold part is not true, especially on this site

The hive only cares about numbers when it suits them. Numbers are a good way to measure popularity when we compare Beyoncé to Gaga but when we compare her to Taylor it's a different story

This :rip: They love to use numbers when it benefits them; suddenly when it doesn't against Taylor Swift, it's "Swifties are so obsessed with numbers!!!"

Racism doesn’t imply that a Black artist can never be #1, but that the barriers to success impact artists of minority groups to a greater degree than artists of majority groups. The fact that you have to use the exception to disprove the rule is exactly why your point is idiotic.

You’re serving “If racism exists how was Obama president?”

And @byzantiumand @ugo are clowns for co-signing this nonsense when y’all shouldn’t be this dumb.
