Doja Cat - 'Scarlet'

The album starts off pretty strong in the first half, but I need a few more listens for the second half. Regardless, I think I'm intrigued by the whole project. The artistic direction is more interesting this time around and there are fewer low points on this over Planet Her which just had some tracks I didn't care about despite the high highs.

Overall, I like this evolution from Doja (especially with the visuals) and I think this will do well in the long run :celestial5:

I thought “Can’t Wait” was just OK at first…but woke up with it stuck in my head.  Addicted now.  :gaycat6:

Hmmm…might work as a single, but like after Agora and Gun.

Except no promo lol (outside of VMAs).  I really feel like explaining what she was going through + talking about creative process would’ve helped tremendously.

I was perched for the album after hearing Attention and Pain The Town Red which were quite promising but unfortunately those two ended up being the best this album has to offer... The tracks kinda blur into one another and there's a lack of strong and catchy hooks compared to HP and even PH. This album is just not for me. Agora Hills is the only song that stood out to me which is ironic because it could easily fit on Hot Pink. That song is exactly why people gravitated towards her in the first place so I could see it going viral on TikTok.

Only 1M less than PH with 5 less hits lmao :clap3: I was shook when I saw the 15M but that was only the songs in the top 200

The chokehold Agora Hills has me in. :jonny5::jonny5::jonny5: The mv is such a serve too. Got me giggling, kicking my feet, and twirling my hair in the backrooms.

There only like 4 songs on this album that I consider skips. Demons, Wet ******, Often, Lovelife

My Top 5:

Agora Hills

F*CK THE GIRLSSSS

Ouchies

Skull and Bones

97

Everything else is pretty much tied for 6th place:

Attention

PTTR

WYM

Go off

Can't Wait

Balut

Gun

Shutcho

Other than Gun (which sounds like a Planet Her deluxe reject). I get more of a soundcloud/Amala/Purr vibe from this album. Nothing else really sounds like it could fit on Hot Pink or Planet her.

Ouchies and **** the Girls are my obvious stand outs from the new tracks

Single selection was excellent to represent the album

Gun - Love Life honestly all kinda blends together with me and reminds me more of Woman than I expected- perhaps they'll be more my vibe later but they were too chill and samey

the one exception is ofc Agora Hills which is so good. A mix of that sound, valley girl character and hard rap is wonderful.

Unfortunate she reused the "whatrthose" lyric from Demons on 97 btw, oddly out of date reference + lyric lol

Send Cant Wait to URBAN/R&B AC pronto

The clear choice for a single after Agora Hills, I don’t see it for any other songs on this album

It’ll be perfect for the post-Holiday season

I guess Nicki is gonna have the biggest female rap album of the year

I will be legitimately shocked if all of PF2 combined surpasses PTTR alone
