The narrative that “people who don’t like the album aren’t real rap fans” is not true at all. lol. I think it just has to do with certain choices she made in the album. If the album had more of a focus on hiphop bangers over including some of these clear snoozes than the reception would’ve been better tbh… 1

Ebro and other hiphop reporters push this "doja is RAPPING rapping on this album" narrative so hard when this literally is on par with planet her and hot pink sound wise IMO. Only difference is that like 4 tracks have some boom bap production on them 2
orange22 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 If Doja Lamar hadn’t convinced everyone this was her Illmatic I might like it more 2
HEAVYONIT Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Finally finished. Super forgettable album. Release Agora Hills and then go on hiatus to drop DC5. 5
SimpleKindofLife Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 The more I listen the more it sounds like something she felt she needed to make at this stage in her career. Like she wanted to prove to herself that people still like her even when she does some left-field ****. This might not appeal to everyone but the effort put in is undeniable, especially because of the visuals.
Solaria Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Love Life is the first REAL snooze off the album so far.. way too repetitive 2

Tbh, the album sounds more like a mixtape to me. 12 minutes ago, KatyPrismSpirit said: Please. She sounds good just different imo She said she’s been in heavy vocal training…her singing voice sounds stronger for sure. Lowkey makes me sad that she promised a Rap album, b/c now I want to hear more singing, lol. 1

Truth Teller Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 The triple punch of Ouchies - 97 - Gun. She ate that a bit. Ouchies is giving 3rd single tbh. I like it more than the singles indicated. And more than her other albums, which were not my type of thing tbh. This is vibey and mellow and flows well. It does get a little boring though.

Mystic Boy Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 (edited) The second half of the album is more Neo soul than Rap and im living for it I Hear Erykah, Lauryn,Solange,a little bit of Missy. Well done Doja Curious to see how this will do cause it really aint GP friendly. Edited September 22, 2023 by Mystic Boy 1

Mornings Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 I wanna curate the features on the remix album. go off needs a Coco & Clair spin. wet hyena needs Tia Corinne Often needs L.ive
@michael Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Agora Hills, the one that sounds the most like her last album, being my favorite I guess she had to prove she could still make those pop bangers even if that wasn’t her focus this time around. Let’s hope she got this out of her system and goes back to pop
