Aretha is the greatest vocalist of all time along with Ella.  There is no debate. They have consistently got this right at least.

The list is appalling.

The exclusion of Celine Dion, Deborah Cox, Jill Scott, Tamia and Kelly Price is disturbing!

What's even the point of this :psyduck: Like either make a best vocalist or best artist list but it makes no sense to arbitrarily do a mix of both and end up with this mess

Ariana being the only person born in the 90s or younger in the entire Top 50, let alone Top 100.

A young queen amongst legends. THE premier vocalist of her generation. :clap3:

I think the top 10 is pretty solid and correct (though Celine not even being mentioned, and no Ella is a sin imo) but the rest of it... its just really sad like others have said that RS is come to such a middling, desperate point to make these baseless lists these last few years. Poptimism is one thing, but in what world does Rihanna, for all her amazing songs and who I listen to a lot more, have ANYTHING over Patty LaBelle?

Gaga, Taylor and Rihanna above Donna Summers, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Barbara Streisand and Carrie Underwood? Can they even reach a C6?

The Top 10 is fine, but the rest of the list is UTTER TRASH

Some omission are absolutely MORONIC:

Even if you restrict the conversation to modern singers, the idea of Taylor or Rihanna above Kelly is... :skull:

Even with the leaps and bound they've made over the decade-plus they've been making music, they simply just don't have the vocal talent to ever come close to the kind of ability, agility or color of someone like Kelly. :deadbanana4:

There will never be a moment in history where either leaves a room in tears by the power of their voice alone.

Aretha Franklin above Whitney Houston? Yeaaaaah... strongly disagree with that.

She worked hard for that spot, taking into account Broadway, her tributes, etc.

How is one of the greatest vocalists of all time being shunned? Celine deserves to be on the list vs most of the people on it.

How on Earth did Taylor or a BTS singer make this list and how in the hell is Adele #22 when she’s off-key constantly live :rip: Kelly Clarkson being so low :rip:

I don’t think they’re necessarily referring to vocals here. Otherwise, they’d have said the “greatest vocalists”.

That’s the only way this list makes the tiniest bit of sense.

You do know she had major vocal cord surgery and her voice totally changed, right? Pre-vocal surgery, she definitely had a sublime voice that was up there with the greatest of her generation. You have to judge singers by their peak, not by their worst moments. If we’re judging artists on their worst moments, then Mariah wouldn’t make the top 1000, but that’s not how it works.
