yeah, KAI version is better but I’m confused

why is SM doing things like Next Level and Rover? are they truly incapable of making good original song? one of the biggest companies in Korea doing this AGAIN yikes

I mean, most of the Kpop songs are just Koreans versions of English demos :toofunny3:. SM do that since day 1

okay, but I don’t reckon any other company doing it in such shameless way as SM

those songs were literally released before by another artist, as a performing artist I would be really upset in both positions

like, people in here (including me) were dragging Twice for sticking to the same music direction and being inspired by Dua and The Weeknd retro era, while SM isn’t bothered and just releases already existing song, without any retouches, just with the new lyrics

Kai still so sexy and the song is a BOP. The original is fun, too. Gonna give this album a listen. Loved the first mini, the second a little less.

Yup it’s extremely lazy, but these artists are credited so they can earn some money from it. These songs aren’t stolen.

And that’s why Mmmh>>> Rover

Lol SM has been doing that but they give credits and the original artists know about it.

If a song is not by kenzie or the other guy it will have a high chance being a remake of another song with some twists specially if they are western composers :gaycat1:

I honestly don't care though because if it weren't for that remakes I would have no idea about the songs and if SM is paying for it and the original artist is getting the coins there's nothing wrong with it :giraffe:

Most of them are Demo songs that are being bought by SM instead of remakes though :gaycat1:

yeah, either way it’s Mmmh >>> Rover > Peaches

it’s just that it’s so hard to believe any company would go this way :rip: NMIXX sample in YDS suddenly is much more acceptable and in comparison to SM’s recycling seems like a genius idea lol

Maybe we should replace JYP with Starship now in Big 4.

it’s still extremely lazy and may be inoffensive to the listeners if SM pays the royalties but as an artist… I would be embarrassed

not a good look, I would say

BP was dragged for getting Bebe’s unreleased reject but SM releasing already existing songs is fun :rip:

Like I said, most of the Kpop songs are from English demos and they just change the lyrics or sometimes not even that much (ex:Tally or OTG)

passing demos is a common thing in the whole music industry, not only in kpop

could you imagine any big western artist releasing previously released song by some niche artist? the lashings and backlash :rip:

no one can do it the way SM does, it seems, no one cares, but if any other company would even try it... it would be a field day

Didn't Katy do this? And it turned out being one of her well known songs especially post PRISM

N/A on the emv lists for the FW but some will call us haters or obsessed if we question their « power » :coffee2:

But also why the most popular one by far is the one with zero gigs? Even the 14 years girl and Eunchae are more booked than her :rip:

Kpop Idols are not considered as real artists, that’s why no one care in SK or in general.

Umm, literally every major company buys demos, some just do it more than others.

It's literally how the K-Pop industry has worked for decades, given the short gaps (compared to western markets) between releases, which makes it harder to produce everything in-house. It's just outsourcing.

Not sure why we're acting brand new here?
