DRod93 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 TXT, SKZ, ITZY, (G)I-DLE, aespa and all of them feel like they all belong to the same generation and I'd say they feel more like 3rd gen. 4th Gen truly feels like it started with IVE as that felt like there was continued success.
hallucinate Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) lbr this generation thing only became important because almost every record is owned by BTS (and BP) there is a reason why you never see fans brag about “first 3rd gen group to…” records and if 4th gen really started in 2020 then the previous groups like txt, skz and itzy will lose 95% of their records Edited February 28, 2023 by hallucinate

Similar to how an influx of groups like APink, EXID, AOA, HELLOVENUS, debuted around 2011-12 As u said, it became dry around 2019-2020, and only truly kick-started in late 2021/2022 with IVE, Kep1er, NMIXX, LSRF, NewJeans, XG etc. It didn't kickstarted in late 2021, only 2 groups more in 2022 than 2021 and most of them are already in the talk of disbandment. This time around the big companies which usually kickstart the generations debuted late.
Pluto6 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) YG still needs to debut a 4th gen gg, and SM still needs to debut a 4th gen bg before we can move on to 5th gen. Generations are always centered around the Big 3. So it’s not really up for a MNET flop Survival group that’s going to disband in 2.5 years, to decide whether we are in a new generation or not, just because they don’t wanna be compared to SKZ and TXT Though imagine if we were to move generations already, which means that YG will not have a gg representative and SM will not have a bg representative in the 4th gen Edited February 28, 2023 by Pluto2022

MusicFan98 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 NCT Dream should be 4th gen, I mean the SK guys are older than them

Spain is not in Europe? Plus, I heard him a lot on French biggest radios, just like J balvin,OZUNA, Rosalia etcc. Reggaeton is not a niche in Europe, it’s actually one of the popular genre. 1 hour ago, Bonjourtristesse said: Worldwide. Illyana Frost Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I always thought that IZ*LEGENDS started the 4th gen for ggs and ITZY and Girdle were 3.5, just like AoA and AQueens were 2.5.

I'm concerned that they'll suffer from the same issue GOT did by having the music out way too early. Hopefully they didn't perform the title track at the concert so at least there's some surprise left. 2 minutes ago, SRIRACHA said: I always thought that IZ*LEGENDS started the 4th gen for ggs and ITZY and Girdle were 3.5, just like AoA and AQueens were 2.5. IZ*FRAUD debuted before ITZY so that doesn't make sense. I think there's a case for .5 gens existing though, in which case they would be in 3.5 gen and (G)I-DLE, ITZY etc. would also be there too.

For example, his latest album peaked at #23 in France & #35 in Germany. Of course he's very successful, but his success is rather concentrated in certain demographics. The point I was trying to make is that popstars used to omnipresent across the globe. Nowadays, their presences are much more fractured. The biggest artists in Latin America can be mostly unknown in Asia and vice versa, whereas people everywhere could agree that Rihanna is one of the world's biggest popstar.

I don't know why ITZY seemed much older to me...or maybe it's because a lot of the 4th gen groups were formed with the IZ*CHARTS ladies. I, too, think there's a case for a 3.5 gen.
