Gaia Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 aespa is over 2 years old without individual instagrams. Like wtf is SM doing right with them at this point?

They've kinda always treated him differently and they exiled him to WayV when really, he should have been added to NCT 127 instead of Jungwoo. Mark could get NCT's first solo album and tbh I wouldn't be mad at that.

Guest Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 (edited) Having a core fanbase in east asia, where its the norm for bgs having bigger fanbase than ggs isn't equal to having bigger global fanbase overall. Some people also forgetting born pink albums literally cost like 50 dollars in NA or EU or many other non asian countries/websites excluding shipping Edited February 24, 2023 by Morsmordre

katyberry Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Watch that NCT solo he Lucas since they aren’t naming it like they did with Ten

King Felix deserves better! 2 hours ago, kendoll2001 said: Yeah, JYP needs to do what Hybe did last year with Seventeen and push Stray Kids for “Best New Artist” at the VMAs and EMAs — and make sure their schedule aligns so they can collect the awards and perform at the shows. Raise their global visibility with the gp more, and start making “Stray Kids” a household name with the locals. I want interviews this year on the Tonight Show, Good Morning America etc etc The way you guys spilled! The fact that SKZ has barely done anything in the US like AT ALL And yet they are this big in the US, and still no official English debut single or anything Their US success is so organic without JYPIG barely doing a thing for them. Their US label didn’t even restock their albums once they were sold out in the first few days everywhere as well. Like they need to push SKZ like they are doing with TWICE right now in the US. Like it’s not fair that SM are forcing all their music acts in the West where there’s no demand, while JYP is barely doing anything with SKZ who acually has a HUGE demand. You can still kinda tell sometimes that JYP is still not 100 % used to have a huge boy group globally which is why they can be kinda inexperienced, since they are a company who usually focuses on girl groups for the most part. If SKZ had the same HYBE payola as HYBE groups, it would’ve been over for everyone I fear 2 hours ago, Bonjourtristesse said: Blackpink selling less than… Stray Kids? If you go by that logic, then Beyoncé’ sold less than 7 Kpop albums on the list That doesn’t mean that these Kpop acts are bigger than Beyonce or anything? 1 hour ago, Bonjourtristesse said: In Korea, sure. But I thought BP would have an upper hand in global sales. SKZ are very popular and huge album sellers, though BP are definitely more popular than them, especially if you look look at every other stat. It’s not like they outsold BP with a huge margin either. 2 hours ago, Save-Me-Oprah said: he look crazy Idk why he looked botched that night, but his face doesn’t look like this right now? Illyana Frost Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Ok....these girls are srsly KILLING IT. I never paid attention to them but this whole concept is really working for them. 1. They really said "mics ON". 2. I'm LIVING for the girl serving THIQUENESS and vocals...challenging korea's stupid anorexic standards for idols. 3. The vocal production is amazing...very interesting vocal colors. The dance too. 4. Purple hair, bangs and the main vocalist are SERVING...well all of them, really. 5. UGH...I wish some miracle could happen and this could be a surprise hit in Korea. We need NewJennies or IU to acknowledge them in public or smthn.

It's weird because Irene was vastly more popular than say Yeri, but that didn't stop SM from making her the it girl of 2016-2018 before Jennie really became the prominent it girl idol + her scandal. I'm not sure why SM is trying to treat aespa as some "all or nothing" group when they never did that in the past... their ggs always had solo endorsements. SNSD had a ton of group endorsements just because they were a mega superstar ngg and brands WANTED them as a group, unlike SM forcing brands to take aespa as a group. The whole point of a center/face is to be the pretty popular member to attract the public. So why hold her back
Cotton Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 (edited) 1 hour ago, Witnessed ET said: A bulk of their sales come from their core fanbase, while BP’s YouTube and Spotify streams also come from a lot of casual fans (and big playlists). You see the difference? What are you trying to start here? Those boy groups get more sales in Korea and Japan. That doesn’t at all mean that they’re more popular globally (especially knowing the bulk buying culture of Kpop fans) please it just means they have a bigger album buying fandom. None of those groups can tour the way BP can nor can they rake in as many streams Edited February 24, 2023 by Cotton

fauxtography Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I feel like TripleS are releasing a-tier BOPS but their weird set-up and goldfish rotation concept is kinda hindering... Or is korea into this now?

I said they have a big album buying fanbase and that’s literally what you’re saying too lol. BP is more popular because they have way more casual fans beyond their existing fanbase along with better marketing and playlisting in the west compared to those boygroups (except BTS). So what’s the big deal? None of that is a bad thing. some of y’all need to start READING and comprehending the post before putting words in people’s mouths and being offended.

I don’t think SKZ is even popular in China? SKZ has been popular globally since 2020 with the Go Live era and particularly in 2022 they get further popularity boost in China and Japan with Oddinary and Maxident era respectively. I believe the Hyunjin bar during the Maxident era broke the record became the most 4th gen bg Cbar sales at one point. Plus they're not entirely unknown in Korea with them being the only 4th gen bg so far to ever get Daesang let alone 4 Daesangs the most awarded 4th gen groups tied with IVE, and their songs being covered by other groups and even on survival shows like Boys Planet recently.

For real, who is gonna buy Ten album? Nobody is checking his solo songs. It is different. If I'm interpreting right, there should be 3 NCT solos this year and 2 new units (maybe 3?). I think everything in the list is indicative of what's coming after May, and we already know a new unit is coming in April (that isn't NCT Tokyo, because NCT Tokyo is supposed to be debut in 3Q 2023) and a solo in May (that isn't Ten).
