The thread has been essentially one side arguing:

- LGBT teachers should be crucified for not being closeted and fired

- Teachers who say it's okay to be LGBT should be crucified and fired

- Education professionals who respect children's privacy rights should be crucified and fired

- Those who build curriculums around basic facts of racism & gender should be crucified and fired

- Trans youth should be crucified and demonized and denied essential healthcare

 

While the other side you're more concerned with and comparing to ISIS is saying:

- To leave LGBT people alone and stop baseless accusations comparing being LGBT to pedophilia 

 

I don't think there's a greater example that people who complain about "wokeness" are arguing in bad faith than two right-wingers saying that teachers who aren't forcing religious indoctrinations on kids are "like ISIS".

They want to be able to say the n-word in public, whether at someone or along with the lyrics to a rap song. They want to be able to deadname trans people on Twitter without the threat of being banned. The goal is to keep white heterosexual cisgender Christian men in the position of power. They feel like they are getting dethroned by minorities and want to go back the good ol’ times, the 1950s. The 50s were a great time to be white, male and unskilled but it was a very oppressive time period for everyone else. Women, immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ+ or disabled people were treated as a second class citizen and that’s the social hierarchy they want back.

This. Achieving social equality means their perception of reality is that they are losing control and power. They know that other demographics are exceptionally talented and strong leaders, and are terrified that their time in control is up. It’s definitely at a tipping point. Stirring up panic and “otherisms” is the main power play that they have left. It has been their MO for decades.
