Any updates? Did they throw this pervert out the school?

No, they are standing by the teacher :skull:

At least they are allowing students to join the protests though:

To be fair, the school seems to recognize that it’s also normal for students to protest this scene. “Students who participate in the protest are exercising their democratic right to protest,” the email to parents continues. “Staff will supervise students as they leave class and exit the building. Those students choosing to join the protest will be just off school property with others at the front of the school.”

It's kind of unclear what that teenager is trying to say, but I can see how the students protesting and the adults protesting would have different views.

The students are mostly there because of the way they are directly impacted - that's what matters to them. They want their teachers to be held to the same dress code/standards of professionalism as the students are.

The parents are afaik not attending the protests in significant numbers. They might be writing letters to the principal and school board, and may show their disapproval at the ballot box in the upcoming local elections. However, this is an affluent school where most of the parents are probably working for the government or big business, which are both quite "Liberal" so they may be concerned about impacts to their careers from getting canceled for being transphobic or associating with the "wrong crowd". Many of them are probably working 9-5 too so they aren't able to show up.

The adults who are most motivated to attend the protest are the ones who see this as part of a greater problem, wherein Justin Trudeau (and maybe Klaus Schwab) are the main villains, trying to destroy Canadian society, so you'll get the anti-WEF, anti vaccine mandates (or even anti-vax), anti-groomers sentiments as well. Not all of them hold these views, but definitely a decent number do. They're also a mixed bag in terms of how they feel about/whether they support more normal trans people.

https://www.thestar.com/politics/provincial/2022/09/26/halton-teacher-controversy-prompts-request-for-review-of-professional-standards.html

Education Minister Stephen Lecce has asked the Ontario College of Teachers to review and “consider strengthening” professional standards in light of the controversy over a trans high school teacher in Oakville who wears oversized prosthetic breasts with protruding nipples.

The Halton board is now also conducting a review of its dress code.

The situation at Oakville Trafalgar High School has garnered international headlines, sparking protests outside of the school and even a bomb threat after photos of the shop teacher in tight tops appeared online and went viral just over a week ago.

Halton police have been stationed at the school and will remain there for as long as is needed in order to ensure public safety said a police spokesperson on Monday, adding that officers are investigating alleged threats made toward school staff. So far, there have been no arrests in connection with the alleged threats or protests.

On Friday, Lecce wrote to the college of teachers, the oversight body for the profession, asking for a review. In this province, in our schools, we celebrate our differences; he told reporters at Queen’s Park. We also believe there must be the highest standards of professionalism for our kids, and on that basis, I’ve asked the Ontario College of Teachers to review and to consider strengthening those provisions with respect to professional conduct, which we think would be in the interest of all kids in Ontario.

College spokesperson Gabrielle Barkany said in a statement to the Star that we have received the minister’s request and our response will be shared with him when it is ready.

Barkany would not provide any details of the review, nor divulge if the college has received any complaints about the teacher’s dress.

Sources, however, say the review could include some sort of standard dress code, which for students in Halton bans any clothing that leaves nipples visible, or a tightening of ethical standards which currently state teachers must uphold the honour and dignity of the teaching profession.

Under professional misconduct regulations for teachers, there is nothing specific about dress codes. However, teachers must maintain the standards of the profession, and not act in a manner that is dishonourable or unprofessional. They can also be found guilty of professional misconduct for conduct unbecoming a member.

The Halton District School Board would not comment specifically about Lecce’s request, but education director Curtis Ennis said the board continues to handle this matter in a way that stays true to our values and commitment to human rights, respects the privacy and dignity of our students and staff, and with the safety and well-being of students and staff as our highest priority.

In an email to the Star, Ennis said “as staff, we are guided by numerous legislation and also fundamentally by the privacy and confidentiality of each of our employees. While I understand the desire for information by the public, we will not and cannot publicly discuss any matter that identifies our staff directly or indirectly. I trust the public will understand the parameters that guide us.

Trustee Tracey Ehl Harrison spoke about the widespread attention this matter has received from Halton and beyond, adding she reads each and every email. Some of them have been quite nasty, from groups far beyond the borders of Canada, described as hate groups, she said. It has been an interesting time, to say the least.

She said that in her role, it is important to hear and try and understand what people are asking, which is why she introduced a motion calling on the director to return to the board by the end of November with a report addressing the various considerations regarding dress codes. The motion passed unanimously.

Now student dress code stipulates dress codes must prevent students from wearing clothing that exposes or makes visible genitals and nipples. The board has said it is committed to establishing and maintaining a safe, caring, inclusive, equitable and welcoming learning and working environment for all students and staff. It has also noted that gender identity and gender expression are protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

I can't believe that the school still hasn't apologised for melon gate

The school board has finally made its decision. They've decided that they're not going to regulate how its employees dress and groom themselves and that this is ok.

I mean, anyone who understands basic civil liberties and legal precedent could have told you where this was going to end up. Y'all so angry still should start a GoFundMe to help the good sis Kayla get her actual breasts done if she desires. :cm:

This makes zero sense. Nearly every workplace regulates their employees attire for professionalism and appropriateness, especially schools.

Students themselves have dress codes, so should teachers.

I wouldn't be shocked if one of the students eventually assaults the teacher out of disgust.

Voodoo went on to say that he was only focused on jumping out of the plane and discussing his personal feelings about transgender people with Lemieux would be counter productive to their safety. He also stressed that Lemieux did not know who he was either.

Do you regret having remained silent, I guess in hope that the conspiracy of this being a troll would cause enough blowback to get the outcome you wanted (punishment by the school board), despite personally knowing for months by growing up in this area that this teacher is indeed a trans woman named Kayla and has been living her life as such for multiple years at this point? :celestial5: Why didn't you confirm it wasn't a troll when knowing for so long?

Good on the good sis for living her best life skydiving. :clap3:

I'm honestly not sure what to make of all this.

This teacher was only at the school after I graduated, so I don't know her personally. The town has a population of over 200,000 people and there's millions more living within commuting distance. It's not like a small town where everyone knows everyone.

I don't know about multiple years. What I've read is she started transitioning last year and started wearing the prosthetic breasts this year.

I am trying to get a sense of how likely it is that the teacher would have found Voodoo Pornstar to go skydiving with him without seeing his Twitter feed. Do you know if he works for a skydiving program as a side job? All I could find is that he got fired for a skydiving sex stunt from a previous skydiving employer.
