I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and was blown away. Of course, the visual and audio aspects of the film carry it (the visuals are stunningly timeless, and the Daft Punk soundtrack is amazing), but I also think the narrative was good too; not groundbreaking, but seeing as it was supposed to be a franchise I could see them wanting to expand on the story in future films. 

 

I feel like it had all the makings of a classic film, so why did it flop?
