Good lord. WBs entire back catalog going down the shitter for My 600 Lb Life and Guy Fieri.

It’s truly symbolic for how media consolidation is ruining entertainment

This is why we should have never gotten that many streaming services. Should've been only Netflix and that's it.

We're now back to cable TV times again, where you need to sign up for every company channel otherwise you cant watch their content.

If everything was unified, then that would've been much better from a consumer point of view.

That's historically incorrect :rip:

The more competition, the better for the consumer.

Netflix alone in the industry would completely inflate prices and cease investments :mazen:

On the other hand, I would rather pay more for one unified platform than to pay almost a hundred just so I can have Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime and Hulu just to watch some content from time to time.

Nah. Warner for movies ok, but not Discovery for series, Discovery is known for reality trash nowadays. Nobody would know HBO originals or those HBO Max/WB Television originals/Cartoon Network would be in a Discovery streaming service, that name might even pull people off.

How are Paramout+ and Peacock doing?

Yeah cause quality is what men in suits care about. :skull:

Clearly they don’t care otherwise the merger wouldn’t have occurred.

Discovery+ have 25m subscribers and possibly 3x more of trash series they don’t want to produce is all they care about.

Ummm, what does that mean? There won't be any HBOmax at all anymore. They won't come to Europe? I'm lost.

yes. basically, Discovery+ will become HBO Max and they will stop producing any scripted shows (like Hacks or Gossip Girl). HBO Max exclusive shows will still be on the Discovery+ service, but it will probably slowly drop any original scripted programming and focus on reality shows etc.

so basically the dumbest business move in streaming history apart from Quibi.

I'm sure you'll still be able to just pay like $12/month for regular HBO without cable.

If they don’t release their scripted original content on whatever HBO max becomes, I will be cancelling my subscription x
