I'm so excited to be part of the judging panel this season!! Thank you @fountain and @Aurora for the kind introduction and for inviting me to the panel in the first place!! This is my first time judging any Platinum Hit/Golden Hit season, so this will be a super different experience for me! I am very much looking forward to sharing my constructive commentary as a peer reviewer and big music fan. Can't wait!

My name is (surprise) Jackson. I'm 25 and have my degrees in accounting which unlike @Element I don't (always) resent. I'm from the western US but live in Chicago.

 

2. What is your previous experience with song writing?

I've been writing songs since before I could read. I participated in every Platinum Hit season either as a contestant/judge/host between 2014-2017 before taking a few years off. I've also written songs with friends and even a few ATRLers, performed at some open mics and post songs sporadically online. I'm currently working on a project - whether it ends up being an EP, mixtape, or album is yet to be decided.

 

3. Who are your favourite song writers?

I'm not going to pretend to have profound music taste. Much like @Aurora, I was raised on pure pop and my first fave is Katy Perry. I was also the OG Kacey Musgraves stan on here. I'm a big fan of the storytelling in country lyrics and the way pop paints such vivid pictures lyrically and melodically.

 

4. List some examples of your favourite lyrics and the best written songs in your opinion.

Proof that Katy CAN be an excellent songwriter

 

5. What are some of your main sources of creative inspiration?

I like to write about all aspects of life. My writing tends to be quite introspective, often about my own anxieties and insecurities. In the past, I wrote a lot about my struggles with religion and identity. I'm also not afraid to write a basic pop bop too, though.

 

6. Lastly, feel free you share some examples of your writing!

You're absolutely right, that vulnerability can also be used as a strength and a way to empower yourself, and you're doing a great job of doing so

Thank you for sharing your writing again, these are clearly emotional songs and it's really a privilege to get to read them. I enjoyed reading both but particularly enjoyed the first one, the little person details you scattered into the song really help make it unique to your situation and special. Also, hope you are doing okay  you always have a place and an outlet here with us!

Right  It definitely feels like it blew up in late 2021... and due to the reset it was harder to find but luckily Google's cache archive came through.

You say that now but that petition will go straight to the supreme court (or something like that) and then ATRL will go down for a while as an investigation occurs - and we all know only one game will be able to survive that
