Some people on here are so weird. While both were abusive there's is strong evidence that Depp DID abuse Amber like :rip:

Given that the vast majority of men who beat, rape, and kill their wives get away with it, I'm not sure it's a dunk to claim that society at large believes the objectively abusive man over his former partner. Like he could have killed her and still have fans. That's how 99% of domestic violence cases go.

Oh please, you of all people are not gonna try and guilt trip me into showing sympathy for a woman who admits on tape to hitting him, shitting in his bed, and putting a cigarette out on him. Miss me with that bs

I only use IG but it's INSANE how many meme/big accounts are posting stuff that paints him in a good light:rip:

She never denied hitting him. She did say she always hit BACK to either defend herself or her sister in one particular instance.

Depp wasn't able to prove that her hitting him wasn't in RETALIATION and that's one of the many reasons why he lost the UK trial. In 12 of the 14 incidents reported by the defendants, the judge agreed that Amber had been abused by Depp.

No one is asking you to feel sorry for Amber Heard.

As someone who grew up living in a domestic violence household and repeatedly saw one parent try to murder the other, I'm telling you that citing public opinion is not a logical framework for deciding who is in the right wrt domestic violence, because 1) the vast majority of intimate partner violence like domestic violence and rape is perpetuated by men and 2) as a consequence of this, the vast majority of domestic violence and rape goes unpunished because society is tilted to believe men over the women they abuse.

You can look at my previous post calling both of them toxic and horrific if you want to continue to speak over the voices of domestic violence survivors; none of this changes though that your edgy posts mocking people for approaching this topic with nuance and sensitivity like @NausAllien and @suburbannature , dealing with something as triggering and traumatizing for domestic violence survivors as this trial is, shows you're not approaching this topic with survivors' interest in minds.

In fact, it seems like you are just one of the many in this thread who are less interested in showing concern for what they genuinely believe is a male victim of domestic violence and instead are more interested in hoping to have an imperfect vector to place all of their resentments towards women on and further discredit women who face domestic violence in a society that already enables their abuse. I'm glad adult men who stan actresses like they're teenagers on Twitter think something as horrific as domestic violence is the correct venue to play out their version of stan wars with stupid nicknames like as though they're discussing chart metrics.

And for the record, what @suburbannature said is true for many victims; my mom wants to forget all the times my dad tried to murder her, but they're so seared into her memory that even the slightest trigger of the memory brings everything flushing back. It has made trying to heal her trauma and talk through it impossible because she remembers everything - the feeling of being woken up by having your backed kicked in; every thought she had while being locked in a closet and thinking she was going to be killed; literally every detail of seeing my brother and I crying on the floor as she was being choked and felt herself blacking out.

"lol the public believes [x] to be true about domestic violence" is not a reasonable statement to make me forgo and forget every thing I understand about domestic violence and the realities of it just because people at large are ******* stupid.

That was some horrific acting on ambers part. If she is truly lying about these types of things when women do actually go through them then she’s sick.

Well said, and I'm sorry for how this case and the many uninformed responses to it in the media/public may be impacting you as someone who experienced domestic violence.

They’re both abusive assholes. I can’t believe Johnny is being painted as some guardian angel when he was texting his friend saying he would burn his wife and rape her corpse. Even if joking, what kind of psychopath says that  :biblio:

I did another deep-dive of articles and this trial after a few days and I've concluded again they're both twisted individuals that clearly at least several times physically assaulted each other over the course of several years, at a minimum. Comparing who's worse at this point is pointless once you cross a certain threshold, putting the overzealous transparency of men's right activists to one side to have Johnny win in the court of public opinion. Not even getting into the emotional manipulation, nor supposed diagnoses, nor Amber's recent testimony which I believe to an extent despite the overwrought performance.

There's a really lurid aspect to all of this and the public's observation of it. Like a Mad Max Thunderdome quality. I won't be supporting either of their projects and good riddance to all of them and any involved parties that covered up any information or lied.

Right? I remember how he had been shown the footage of him wrecking the kitchen, he was like 'all I did was abusing some kitchen cabinets' and everyone let it slide like it was normal :priceless: Honey if my man did that I would be calling 991

Are people really believing this type of conspiracy theory video? The lack of nuance with how this trial is being discussed is shocking and yet not.

It's not "the same monologue." :ahh:

It's very heartbreaking listening to her testimony.

He is obviously a drunk, a narcissist and an abuser.

Reading all the comments underneath the ABC video with the typical misogynist narrative is sad, but not surprising. I hope she wins this.

No, it's not...

This was Kate's story:

pYieW9H.jpg

Kate and Amber's stories are NOTHING alike. Amber's story didn't involve an uknown assailant, didn't take place in Brazil, and didn't involve a MACHETE.

People need to be careful because there's an obvious DISINFORMATION campaign going on.

Absolutely heartbreaking testimony from Heard:

It truly made me sick to my stomach that she had relive such an awful moment. This trial should have never been broadcast.
