Pop Emergency: Camila barely made it to top 10, what went wrong?

That H.E.R album only peaked at #6 :skull: and like you said only sold 10K more after years and years of intense industry plant push :gaycat6:  You know very well that as much of a push as she has had and with her countless pushed Grammys nominations and wins, should have done WAY more than that.

That #86 one was considered to be enough of an album to have real radio singles and be nominated for the Grammy Album Of The Year.

Plus, I see H.E.R has another album that charted at #139 :deadbanana4: So clearly, there’s no room here for you to be talking about Camilla’s #13 position lol. You could have used almost any other artist against Camilla but had to choose someone as unsuccessful as H.E.R. :lmao:

Billboard 200 Weeks

H.E.R - 219 Weeks

Camila Cabello - 138 Weeks

Welp, guess your misleading statistics using #139 peaking EPs to drag aint check out

H.E.R debuted with nearly 2X as much streams last year than Camila's predicted to as well. 30k vs 16k

Obviously Back of My Mind underperformed, but Camila is doing much WORSE which is the point:skull:

No she's not at total irrelevance level yet. "Don't Go Yet", a solo single, peaked at #42 which while a flop by a relevant pop girl standard is decent compared to someone like Nelly F, Alessia Cara, Meghan Trainor, Iggy (listing girls who used to be huge for a while and then became irrelevant). Those girls can't even chart at all anymore. But she might be an album or two away from that status. And DGY got major playlist and radio support instantly. If she didn't have those things I wonder if she can still chart.

Good point. She’s definitely not at that level yet.

Im shocked at how badly Alesia Cara is doing and she’s the closest to Camilla in terms of genre/format being a contemporary peer and she was having hits at about the same time as Camilla but she’s doing way worse :dancehall:

Alesia’s 2018 album debuted at #71 and had the lead single peak at #65 while the other two singles did not chart

Alesia’s 2021 album did not chart :chick2: and none of the singles charted either :chick2:

So things can always get much worse

H.E.R considers her EPs to be albums so they count in this discussion over Billboard 200 peak

And you still haven’t explained why an industry plant with so much industry press and mysterious Grammy noms for Albums of the year can’t peak in the Top 5 :gaycat6:

Well, H.E.R. Is down there in hell with them and she’s crossed that bar at least :rip:

I think it's all about momentum in the industry, once you start flopping it's harder to get the top playlist placements, harder to convince radio to jump on board, to get booked on major promo spots like SNL and award shows, etc etc. Alessia, Iggy, Meghan all fell off hard enough that they stopped being able to get all that and so it's very hard to reignite interest. Camila has been able to keep getting that thanks to hit collaborations, and even seems to be doing that now with "Bam Bam", but eventually the penny drops. It will be interesting to see what happens from now.

I am convinced her team is marketing her as 'Camila is one of the few young Latina celebs, she will help your TV show/product/award show/etc get interest from young female Hispanic demographic which is the fastest growing demographic in the USA', so regardless of how she performs we may still see her pop up. I think this is the same thing that kept JLo a semi-relevant celeb when all her projects were bombing hard in the late 2000s. There's a lack of Latino celebs in US media compared to how big a % they are of US population. Karol G and Rosalia are rising fast in America though and may snatch that spot if they aren't already getting there. Yes I know Rosalia is Spanish but to the US media it's the same. They still cast Javier Bardem and Antonio Banderas as Mexicans all the time.

I work in marketing so this is my take lol. But her career does feel very smoke and mirrors right now, between using features to get hits, not being able to tour solo (she's opening for Coldplay, which shocked me tbh, I figured she could at least do a theatre tour), etc.

I know you’re not talking about smoke and mirrors when your industry plant fave H.E.R has literally built her entire career on smoke and mirrors :deadbanana4:

Right, I guess because Camilla’s last album had Senorita and My Oh My, she’s still getting some backing here, but if she doesn’t get some kind of a tangible hit this time, things are probably going to get even rougher on the next album. I was surprised she had a collaboration with Ed on Bam Bam, but I’m guessing they may have mad a deal back then when she guested on South On The Border to do a trade in the future

I think it was probably that + Ed is targeting the Latin market, he also released two collabs with J Balvin a few weeks ago.

I mean, even Kesha’s High Road sold more and Raising Hell bombed

H.E.R is in this for a long game, she even owns a festival that sells out that will likely keep getting bigger:skull:

Not sure what Camila is going to be doing in 5 years judging from these numbers. A massive decline every single era in all aspects

You bragging like H.E.R. is some touring force because of a little festival she organized :rip:

I’m sure H.E.R. will be here for a long time, she always survived this long with little to no real success, so what’s a little longer? And that’s why she is still known and will always be known as the biggest and most inorganic plant in the music industry :rip:

Will Familia even have a tour?

Will be interesting to see how it performs in comparison to the Back Of My Mind tour. I'm assuming she doesnt do Arenas this time despite all her Pop peers including Shawn Mendes able to arenas.

H.E.R already has 6 multiplatinum songs certified that equate to 2.4 Billion streams alone in the US, looking like a slow burner to me. Plus she'll have a Double Platinum album by the end of the year judging from the numbers

"no real success"

I don’t even follow Camila to know her streams like that, but I’m pretty sure Havana and Señorita have way more streams than that and probably more than H.E.R’s entire career combined :rip:

Yes, “no real success”. Get back to us, when those industry plant Grammys she gets actually translate to some actual Billboard success for once in her life :dies:

Camila always had the makings of a flash in the pan artist. No fanbase, no strong artistic vision, radio driven hits, less touring/album power.

She rode the wave of the Latin trend to a few hits, and now that it's gone there's not much left for ha :cm:

Senorita & Havana combined dont have more streams than H.E.R's career in the US. WW, yeah

I guess it'd be even more embarrassing if it did though

Cuz she still cant sell more than 25k 1st week now

Spoiler

I mixed up H.E.R's RIAA total Streams with her multiplatinum songs.

She has 3.7 Billion streams equivalent certified in the US total, her 6 multiplatinum songs alone amount to 2.4 Billion.

Why are H.E.R. stan"s" beefing with Camila now :dies:  Am I missing something? :dies:
