2024 US Election Megathread πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ›οΈ

Message added by Lee!!,

It was decided based on feedback from the spring 2023 town hall to transition this thread back to being election specific. With the Civics section being able to house specific threads on many issues, we think having a generalized politics thread is not completely necessarily anymore.Β
Β

With that said, please continue to be respectful and remember that you do not always need to respond to everyone.Β

It's a couple times now I seen this bs compared to the Civil Rights Movement or abolition.

Ya'll need to come up with some new material and get you some more black friends. Cause its beyond embarrassing.

Some of yall are so desperate to "be on the right side of history" when history is literally written by those who winΒ :rip:Β at this point, I'm convinced you don't care about what's actually going on in Palestine, but stroking your own ego of online activism that does nothing to actually prevent people from getting murdered.Β
Β

For a generation that was raised to "not believe everything you see on the internet," you do just that.Β
Β

this isn't the civil rights movement. It's another goddamn play to drag the world into a full out war. And Benjamin Netanyahu is the one holding the trigger, period.Β
Β

but go off and blame senile Joe, who is literally trying to thread a needle of being for both law and order and protests; being against humanitarian crises and supporting an ally who has limited to no support (historically, to this day) from its neighboring aggressors.Β

This **** is barely even comparable to Vietnam

Β

Β

America is not at war. Palestinians civil liberties are not being restricted in the United States.

Β

People are so stupid you actually have to point this out.

By being for "law and order" Joe Biden is by definition AGAINST protests that criticize the state of Israel, which is viewed as a hate crime by the US government and many states throughout the country. As of a few days ago, protesting the apartheid government of Israel is legally defined as antisemitism and therefore cannot ever be considered a lawful, orderly protest. If universities do not immediately and violently crackdown on a protest of Israel as it is emerging, they will be at risk of having their funding rescinded. That is the America that Joe Biden and the vast majority of Congressional Democrats want.Β
Β

"Online activism" does more to stop people from getting murdered than standing by and letting it happen. Β Joe Biden doesn't want the slaughter to stop. He's not threading any needle at all. You just want people to stop saying mean things about him online, even though he is illegally supporting a rogue terrorist state of genocidal maniacs without a single condition or red line.

The way none of these opinions have any meaningful impressions or come from any media source.

Β

It's like you're posting your own personal Tweets. :skull:Β

Anyway

Β

The Zionist movement is inherently racist by nature. One of the biggest proponents of it on this forum is literally infamous for calling your fave an ape.

I take for granted that people who speak about the Civil Rights Movement have a basic understanding of the social and political strategy involved in making it a success.

Β

If I have to "cite" that getting arrested was a feature, not a bug, then you shouldn't be having this discussion...Β :rip:

There's a reason why she doesn't play sides.

If you can win your seat, you have the support of the caucus leader... everything else is on you.Β :cm:

the point is, liberals here on ATRL mock leftists for posting tweets from rando asshats with less than 4-5 digit like totals, yet here you are doing exactly that.

Β

Anyway, Joe Biden was an opponent of the Civil Rights Movement AND equality in South Africa, so it should be no surprise that he's on the wrong side of yet another issue as well.

Because what they post are prescriptive, niche political suggestions. What I posted isΒ descriptive, verifiableΒ historical context:

None of those examples reflect the dynamics of these current day protests. They're demanding universities sell their Google stocks. Be for real.Β :rip:

All of that to say that the police brutalizing of protesters you dislike is constitutionally justified and good when you could have just said that. :rip:

Β

Your hang up on "selling stocks" when the whole idea of BDS is to send a message that Americans' tuition and tax dollars shouldn't be contributing to an ethnic cleansing campaign. A message that the Israel lobby is so absolutely terrified of if it's allowed to succeed that they've successfully pressured 38 states into passing laws to make BDS illegal. Be for real. :rip:Β

"Brutalized" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Ya'll wanted it to beΒ Kent State so bad.Β
Β

Protestors were evacuated because the school isn't going to sell stocks in the S&P 500. It was either that or let things spiral into a dangerous CHAZ situation.Β
Β

Also, it's not "American's tuition". It's Columbia's endowment (i.e. rich people's gifts and donations). The very same endowment used to fund many poor students' tuitions. This is why nobody listens to leftists.Β

Quote

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.; Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio; Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y.; South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem; and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum

Β

Kristi's out for the dog, Tim's out for being too on-the-nose as an Uncle Tom and the closeted accusations, Marco's out for that Politico (I think) story on avoiding running mates from abortion controversy states, Elise has the personality of a lacquered armoire, and Doug has no personality.

Β

My money's on JD as Ohio's now solid red and the NRSC can afford it, followed by Doug, then Marco as the wild-card for Latinos. Kristi's now #4 but I did have her as #1 prior to the dog story which apparently Republicans care about and aren't remotely consistent on anything.

These personalΒ attacks will never land cause you don't know me.

You can tell an observation was accurate when the subject of said observation takes it personally and complains it is an attack.Β

You: *repeatedly post that progressives are wrong because most successful Americans, including yourself, enjoy premiere private health insurance and enjoy comfortable six figures wages thanks to a strong economy that is going right for people who know how to invest well and that is the base of the Democratic party,, not whiny socialists*

*gets pointed out how your self-described circumstances are atypical despite your personal claims of your own political views being on the PULSE of America*

You: "THIS CRINGE DESPERATE PERSONAL ATTACKS!!!"

...it was the age range that felt like an attack, wasn't it? Sister, we as gay men can't live up to such stereotypes to be so vain as to be embarrassed over perceived *age* ddd.Β

What a weird statement that seemingly suggests certain rights within American history..weren't won via war. How is the concept of civil rights and war at odds with each other?

Β

Oh wait, you're trying to imply somehow Palestinians being occupied for 75 years are the ones trying to "start" said war because you support Israel and think we should be as ignorant to the history of anti-war movements (to be anti-war in this context demands being pro-Palestine) as you are to how such is connected to civil rights movements.Β

Β

Supporters of Israel are not on the side of civil rights, peace, or justice -

It's jarring to read through an argument and then encounter a completely random description of someone you made up in your head. And it's a slightly different person every time. It's giving Hallucinate.mp3.Β Β Β :gaycat6:
Β

Sorry to spoil the fantasy, but you don't have to be a 40 year old, urban elite to recognize that "law and order" is a major political wedge issue for the left.Β
