Imagine a whole Coachella main stage dedicated to this

:bibliahh:This is a disaster oml.
I’ll forgive the sloppy choreo cause its a moving float but their lips aren’t even moving :deadbanana2:

If SM f**** this up, i'm going to disappear off ATRL for at least a week. :giraffe:

I might consider handing in my stan card for a few months :giraffe: Love the girls but the mess surrounding their live performances needs to be dealt with

Uhh how did he not decide the result? :rip: Taeyeon is good but Wendy is literally arguably THE best vocalist we have today in Kpop :rip:

I think a lot of people default to saying Taeyeon is better because she has more solo material to judge, plus she is more senior.

Wendy bodies Taeyeon in range though and her versatility is insane, she can pull off so many different styles. "Omni-directional" as the Rolling Stone review put it; she's really in control of her voice. I don't think Taeyeon's voice is as adaptable as that, her zone is definitely rock/ballad.

All performers typically lipsync at the Macy's event because the parade floats can't carry the necessary equipment to allow for live microphones apparently.

John Legend and Rita Ora explained it after they got hate for lipping and others have mentioned this limitation as well.

I really wish SM had sent seasoned and reliable performers like Red Velvet instead, they would have smashed it out the park.

It's such a risk for Aespa :deadbanana4: Let's break down the situation, the girls have:

- Never sung live

- Never performed in front of a big audience

- Only performed in front of a Western audience on a parade float

- A preexisting reputation for mediocre/boring performances

All of these things mean that they seem doomed to fail. Prove me wrong girls :deadbanana4:

not when O.O is a copy of Next Level lololol

dont get it twisted! one is a song with a beat change, and the other is an avant garde song that mixes different genres to create an unique experience that only twice was done to that level before (bohemian rhapsody and IGAB)

As much as I would love to see my girls up there, I'm kinda glad they didn't send RV. I'm not sure how much time aespa had to prepare for this but it seems so sudden

Really hoping SM and aespa were approached months in advance and just kept it secret til now. Also will they be part of 88rising's set?

aespa has been in the practice room for weeks now. I posted about it pre-ATRL reset but I thought it was for their comeback. I guess it makes sense now that it was for this Coachella performance.

If they are premiering new material at Coachella then a full comeback is not far away though.

The way they went from international hits to flops instantaneously is hilarious :rip:  What their horrid fans get for asking for less Mia

I have a feeling Aespa will slay at Aeschella. I just know their stage and production are going to be crazy, lipsynk or not. LSM knows this is one of the greatest opportunities to market and sell their lore to the western audience. LSM is a business man first and foremost! We shouldn’t doubt him

He’s not YG! Imagine shelving the biggest group your company has ever managed for a whole two years when their contract is ending soon. LSM will neverrrr

How were they able to chart?! Are they growing in popularity  with Canadians?

I agree to an extent about the 88rising part, but apparently that group has a bad rep in California, so might be for the best aespa is solo.

How come? :biblionny:

I'm hopeful that SM has learned from his mistakes with his past US efforts and aespa will eventually do well in the US and I think @Zack mentioned that it seems like he is based the meeting fans thing in NY?

Red Velvet is an old GG, their members are pushing 30 and 40 (Irene), there's no point pushing them now.

They made the right decision to send the rookie instead.

That's what makes the song so good. The repetition helps heat up the song for the dramatic collapse "LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU KOREAN" :jonny5:

31 actually :rip:

I've always thought it's very weird that this thread (full of males) is so comfortable in making jokes about Irene's age meanwhile if it's a hot male it's yasss breed me daddy

NCT should have performed at Coachella and covered this classic. I could totally see Kings slaying the vocals and Legend Taeyong dropping a hot rap verse :smitten:

This girl has the kind of natural-looking innocent visual Korea loves but isn't really 'in' for today's trend maybe. She would have been great in IVE :alexz3:
